DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

In Adribard's Retreat, which is in Avalon Marsh, talk to Dyemaster Camdene. He tells you that he needs 3 components to make some special dyes and that he will reward you if you would collect these 3 special components for him. First he needs a rat tongue from a Swamp Rat. Second he needs a worm rot from a Rot Worm. Third he needs a bog mud that comes from a Bogman Grappler. All three of these monsters can be found within the Avalon Marsh. When you have acquired all 3 items, return to Dyemaster Camdene but don't try to give him the items right away...he will say that he doesn't want them. First right click on him to speak to him and he will say it appears that you have the items he asked for. He will then ask you to give him the items one at a time in order. I did this quest at level 6 and received almost a full blue bubble of experience in addition to some money and a bottle of light green cloth dye. At level 6 the swamp rats where green and the rot worms and bogman grapplers were blues. Only problem I had was that the bogman grapplers frequently like to travel in pairs. All 3 monsters can be found easy enough if you head straight out from the entrance of Adribard's Retreat into the Avalon Marsh.

Erm...I'm missing the point here obviously - it's a quest, it gains you experience, an item and some money, for three kills...<ponders> Better than a slap in the face with a kipper. Quit whining, any quest for three kills isn't going to provide you with a +47 Vorpal Long Sword, honestly...kids today...
Great Quest for Newbies

This is a very nice straight-forward quest for newbies to see what questing is like. Sure the reward isn't stupendous... but a fair bit of experience... and some dye (which newbies may not have experimented with using).

the minimum level for this quest should say 6 I think. I and my 5th level group was not able to do it.

I confirmed this last night. At 5th level the Adribard crier knew nothing about this quest. At 6th level, the Camelot crier sent me straight over.

...this hadn't been nerfed. You used to get a nice dye, one of the ones that cost 6 gold from a merchant. Which, of course, meant that you could sell it right back to Camdene for 3 gold.

You know, I guess it's a good thing they changed it. That's a ridiculous amount of money for the effort it takes. =P

I just completed the quest at Level 6. Sure, the coin and dye were not spectacular, but I did it for the fun, not for the phat lewt or experience.

I was up at the Bandit tower, east of Camelot and decided it was time to try the horse ride. So I decided to do this quest down in the marsh. I went to Castle Sauvage and purchased a ticket to Adribard's Retreat. Never having visited that part of the realm, it was a new treat for me, and the quest was just icing on the cake.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 28 2001 at 6:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you got almost a full blue bubble of exp. as opposed to what? yellow bubble?
Misleading

People are probably going to get really mad at this quest because the guy makes a big deal over his dyes which are actually just orange, green, or yellow light dyes (which you can buy for 1s). It's a quest for spare copper and a free bubble of xp for those around level 6.

I done this quest yesterday with my 7th Level Armsman, got a crap load of experiance. So don't know if they changed it or what. This was my first time to do it, and went fairly well. But do watch for the Bogman.

Traveling

Here's another tip for traveling... run )

I went from Humberton to Lethantis at level 3 on foot. And at lv 6 I ran from Lethantis to Ludlow. Sure it takes a while.. and it's a bit nerve wracking.. but a lot of fun!

Just be sure to consider everything. And if you do pass a town... bind yourself =)

Good luck

Besides that there's a starting city in the area, you can also take a horse from the east gate of Camelot, 5 silver.

How did you get to the marsh at lvl 6? DOnt you have to go thru salisbury plains?

All light Dye colors can be bought in Camelot. This only makes the quest worthwhile if u really want Light green or light yellow cloth dye (Both of which can only be bought far from Avalon Marshes), or if you want some extra exp.

I did the quest and i got light yellow... my sister did it and she got light green... so it would appear the reward is a random light dye
Killing the monsters

Make sure you kill the monsters in order or you wont get the item you need. =)
