Are these guys in the same faction as the clurican trips, or is the name just coincidentally similar?

All Cluricauns share the same faction;

Cluricaun Trips
Cluricauns
Cluricaun Aquavitors

Killing them gives a positive faction change to Lugradens/Leprechauns.

Drops

The Cluricaun seem to drop two full suits of cloth armour (Sturdy Woven (AF21) and Hedge Weed(AF24)), a full suit of reinforced (AF44), at least one piece of leather armour (Helm of Shadow Melding, AF42, +3 Stealth, +4 Dex) one of each weapon type (8.5 to 9 DPS), several jewelry items (Mollachd Coin, rings, etc), and decent general loot.

However, be aware that they do not drop commonly. In general, having killed these ugly little creatures for levels, I'd say their drop rate is about 2-3%. One magic item per 40 Cluricaun seems to be about the norm. So, while the houses NW of Tir na Nog are decent camps for experience (Solo, or group, thanks to BAF), do not expect to be able to get yourself a suit of armour from them. You are better off hoping for cloth drops in Spraggons (though rates are still bad there) or Reinforced from the Koalinth.
Where?

The best place for them, IMO, is NW of the Connacht TNN entrance, approx. loc is 10k, 36k. There are two house like buildings on top of a hill near the Ghostly Siabra type mobs...

There are loads of them there just running about in and out of the buildings.!!
