stat association
# Jan 07 2002 at 12:09 PM Rating: Default
what is the stat (not skill) that is associated with the mezzes?

piety? or Charisma?
I'm thinking it's piety, but fearing it may be Char.

Is it true that you can only use a mez spell once per mob? Meaning, I have to mobs on me and I mez one while whacking the other.. time uns out on the mez, but Im still not done with the first mob. Can I re-mez the 2nd guy again?
RE: Nogard

You can re-mez but the duration of the mez is 1/2. If you mez it again the duration is only 1/4.
heal Vs smite
# Dec 11 2001 at 12:12 AM Rating: Default
i somewhat disagree with the healing in RvR thing if you have a lower level getting targeted then it is tru there is no point but if you have high level tanks in yer group you can keep em alive for quite a while using both the heals and quickheal shouts. The other day i had a lvl 44 armsman in my group and in one battle i put all my mana + shouts into him. This basicall gave him about 4 lives as he was getting pummeled from all directions. He walked through about 6 guys. It really changed the outcome of that battle. Had i smited he would have dropped fairly quick and i would have been next in short order.
Pure Battle Cleric

Yes I am a pure battle cleric, I have nearly everything in smite, and plan on maxing it and throwing the left overs in rejuv. I agree with getting the some of the instant heals. Though at 37 i still do not have them. However with only 10 in rejuv i find that I can still heal reasonably. In terms of RvR smite is incredible. I find healing almost useless in RvR as most people are dead before you get a chance to cast it, but with the 35 smite spell i can keep a orange enemy tank in 3-4 hits depending on race. Also, enhance i find too self limiting because the upper buffs require insane amounts of con, if you're gonna go battle cleric, leave the buffing to a buff cleric unless you have some change when you reach 50 that wont fit to give you a level in rejuv.

As a pure Rejuv cleric, with a distant 2nd in enhance ability, I find that I dont use my largest heals anyway. To do so brings aggro on me, and most of the time there is a 2nd cleric, and larger heals go wasted because we both overlap on the same tanks.
Its far better for both Clerics to under-cast and expect the overlap... the target heals quickly and if you waste any manna, its only the cost of your lowest heal. (Not to mention keeping you both way under the aggro radar)
I think the two true Cleric types may be the Smiter and the Enhancer, both of which should use a little spec points in healing.

To stop the overlapping of heals can't you just say what you gonna do to let the other cleric in group know, that's what we do on EQ.
"Celestial Heal for {Target's name}."??

being a cleric
# Nov 28 2001 at 2:38 PM Rating: Default
i am a lv 41 cleric
i have 23 in rej so that i will have the group emergency which will be life saver.
going 28enhancement atm and 19 smite, the instant cast stun is extremely useful when u go to barrow celts and wrights. as well in RvR.
my finial spec will be 23 rej, 34 smite and rest all in enhancement. and i can see a bright furture with my cleric, note that a cleric is never a main attacking nor defensive force in battle. we dont need to boost anything to top like a tank.

As a reasonably specced smite cleric, at 26 I was 14 in rej, 10 in enchancement and 19 smite (22 with level 25 epic hammer +3 smite).

The tactic to soloing, if thats your bag is your armour. Get your af as high as possible, which will allow you to practically melee yellows to death with very little extra help needed from nukes.

Regarding multiples. The best strategy by far when you get multiples if you ask me is to ae mez, then back up a few steps and ae nuke the one you are fighting. You will lose a little over all damage for taking substancially less damage from 2 critters attacking you at once.

For the person who asked, mesmirise will stop an undamaged critter (once damaged they will not be affected by it), for a set period of time. You can mez again (although its on a 30 second timer), however the second duration will be half the normal length, and the 3rd mez will not hit them at all.
Smite vs. Evil
# Nov 27 2001 at 11:47 AM Rating: Default
For those Smite Specalists in training, also notice that when fighting anything evil, especially undead, your smite gets a Huge bonus. My Spec Lev 8 Smite is 44 Base, and normally does about 60 because I'm 8 out of 9 Spec Levels in Smiting. However, when I hit undead type-stuff I do as much as 70 - 80 per spell. It's damn sweet :)
Battle Cleric...
# Nov 27 2001 at 12:38 AM Rating: Decent
While I don't consider myself a battle cleric, by any means, I manage to hold my own pretty well. Spec'd at 9/5/7 and playing carefully, I solo yellows all day long. I've taken 2 blues at once and lived to tell the tale, though once, a third got me in the end.
Trick is to be at very edge of range and you should get minimum 2, but really 3 smites in on mob while he's incoming. by that point, if he's not down by a third, you've got a battle on your hands. this is where your instants come in, and your pre-applied buffs. Drive Evil is a sweet ace-in-da-hole, but you have got to have your Hammer (Blessed or of Pious) on to stand a good chance. Wait until you've cast (or been interrupted) your third smite before entering combat mode, and look-see if any other than your targeted mob is incoming. If not, DE him and wail. If so, wait till other is also in range and DE them both, it don't dilute with more than one, don't worry...they all get a face full!

This is a solo tactic that's worked quite well for me. Groups call for different tactics and usually it's best not to spend power on anything but healing your tanks, depending on group make-up. Too often, I find that I'm the tank in my groups, go figure! In that instance, I always like to have another healer along, but I try to make certain it's not absolutely necessary.

Just my 2c

I would say that if you want to go battle cleric then you would want to specialize more in enhance than rejuv. It is good to get your rejuv high enough to get the first instant heal since this is a real life saver at really deperate times but with better buffs you will be able to do and take that much more damage.

My vision of a battle cleric would be 2/3 enhance/smite and 1/3 rejuv. Though I have seen fully speced smite clerics that can truly hold thier own quite well.

If you want to be a wizard/cleric then the fully speced smite with enough rejuv to get instant cast heal is the way to go.

thanks fer the tip, at 27 i have all smite and 12 rej 12 enhance, i find this a great setup and look forward to more smite :) the battle cleric is a force to fear in rvr in my opinion. run in mez, stun then pummel them to death with yer offen spells...my guildmate is in his 39/40th season and is my idol on the battlefield. its great fun to watch a group run in to wax ya only to get mezzed and watch you run away, and be sure to get yer gift heal..a life saver for those iv just been sniped by a dam kobalt for 600 damage.
DD's off

those damage scales are way off as well, my direct damage with 17 smite spec is closer to 95-120 on yellows. I believe its called greater holy rage but i dont see that one listed either

To give numerical values to this, I've asked around, and it would appear that if the spec in question is 75% of the character's level, the spells cast will be 50% more effective. So that translates into 50% more damage for smites cast. These numbers appear accurate, because my cleric who is focused in smites does equal or more damage than my wizard who was at the same level, but I changed my mind on how I would spec, so I wasn't focused in any one line of spells.

The closer you are to being fully speced the more damage or healing or enhancements you get. There is basically a percentage to level at how much more you get. If you are fully speced or close enough to your level you will do more damage than some that was not fully speced.

The Drive evil line isn't right - you get that back every 15 or 20 secs not minutes...

Whats it mean by mesmerized, whats the exact effect...like stunned for a couple secs?
RE: Heavenly Images--Enemies in area mesmerized

Yes.. as long as you dont hit it.. or it breaks mez.

Also.. if the mob has taken more and about 10% damage it wont work on it.
