Anyone know how much damage the level 50AE for darkness spec does?
?
# Mar 21 2002 at 4:45 AM Rating: Default
when i was killin scavengers the raven bolt did more dmg than the dd...
but the dd was supposed to be better....(according to stats)
and they both do the same kind of dmg?

that was puzzling...
didnt make sense
RE: ?

The bolt lowers resistances, so if you had casted the Raven Bolt before, then it will do more damage since it is getting bonus damage from the monsters negative resistance to Dark.

Is it just me or is the damage add line completely useless at high lvls? for example lets take an 8dps 4.2 delay 2handed sword. let say i'm lvl 26 and only speced in darkness. so i get the 4.2dps buff. I've tested this with these numbers. and before the buff the damage average was 150 or so. and after the buff it was only 16 more. the math adds up, 4dps*4 = 16. But when the tank is dealing 150 dmg per hit is 16 really worth it, i don't think so. I think that the dps. now take the weapon 8dps*4=32. by that math each hit should only do 32 dmg without the buff. Something seems skewed here. The dps should definately be added in before the str factor, not after, if it had an chance at being worth it.

The major point of this spell is not to buff yourself, but to buff the fighters. That way the two handed sword user you mentioned would get his damage PLUS what you would add with your buff.

I'd like to know how many of us use this spell and what you're opinion is. I have 12 in dark and use the Ravenbolt on mobs as they are incoming. This generally doesnt pull aggro (from a skald shout at least). Then I let loose with my DD. It -seems- to me that I can hit purples more often after the ravenbolt has landed. I'm assuming that ravenbolt is still a general resistance debuff. I know it used to add 10% to the dmg my DDs (even the RC ones), then it decreaed it, now it does not affect dmg at all. I group with another runey who says he cant see a difference after i cast it, but he's a couple lvls higher than me in RC and maybe gets resisted less anyway. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Ravenbolt is broken again.

With the recent changes they have made, it seems that all of the Darkness spells are doing Cold Damage.. and Ravenbolt still debuffs Darknes, rather than cold, so its effectively just a lower damage (very pretty looking) DD.. hopefully this will get fixed sometime in the future.

Ravenbolts Again
# Jan 06 2002 at 8:39 PM Rating: Good
The raven bolt line does seem bugged... the -damage after cast. I tested this for awhile and am 80% sure that the damage dark spells do are reduced (rather than increased or static) after a raven bolt has been cast. Has mythic commented on this at all? Has anyone else noticed this?

I've noticed it too. I think they are reduced, not enhanced. I was reading -4 today on all my darkness spells cast after a succesful raven bolt hit.

Do higher lvl ravenbolts do anything for resist debuffing or just add more dmg. Also, does that resist debuff apply to all spells, or jsut the darkness spells, like the description above implies?
Finally, has anyone else noticed a -dmg modifier for DDs after ravenbolt has landed? Didn't used to be this way. Is this a bug?

Darkness DD's

I have heard the higher level darkness DD's take only 2 seconds to cast. Anyone know if this is true?

It has nothing to do with the lvl of the spells, they have the same casting time throughout. And yes, there is a line of 2 second casting time dd's in darkness.
How dmg add works...
# Nov 29 2001 at 2:44 PM Rating: Default
You take the # of the add lets say 4, and you multiply it to the weapon speed.

So, if you have a weapon speed of lets say 2, and you put your spell on the guy which is 4.0, everytime he hits, he will hit for an extra 8 dmg, on top of what his normal hit is.

Runes of Darkness
Rune of Agony
Question....??
# Nov 27 2001 at 3:56 PM Rating: Default
I am a lvl 7 RuneMaster and haven't spent any skill points yet.
I'd like to put most of my points to the "Runes of Darkness" Line, but I've only got Runecarving, Supression, Darkness and Runes of Destruction. (Neither Runes of Supression nor Runes of Darkness!)
Is this a bug; do I have to spend some skill points to another spell line in order to use the "Runes of Darkenes" Spells, or whats the clue?
Thanks.

You need to get your skill to level 5 before you actually see the spec lines. At least, for Darkness and Suppression.
I spec in Darkness

And I am L30, I did not get the ::Runemaster Greater Rune of Obscurity 138 DD :: is this true for anyone else?
RE: I spec in Darkness
# Nov 26 2001 at 2:46 PM Rating: Default
You must be SPEC'd in darknes to lvl 30 to get the Greater Rune of Obscurity. This means that a lvl 30 Rune Master would never have that spell as they would not have had enough skill points to get to lvl 5 in runecarving (in order to enable the rune lines) AND get to lvl 30 in darkness, which is what is needed to get this spell. Keep in mind Darkness and Runes of Darkness are actually two separate lines of spells.

How Do I Get These Spells?
# Nov 08 2001 at 10:28 AM Rating: Default
I am a level 7 runemaster and have 4 skill levels in Darkness, 5 in Suppression and 2 in Desctruction/Runecarving. I have the Suppression and Destruction/Runecarving Spells from the specialist spell lines.

I do not have the spells I should have for Runes of Darkness, Do I have to quest to get them or something?

Thanks.

the reason for order of buff
# Nov 04 2001 at 2:05 PM Rating: Default
IF you look at the speel description more you will see why they go up then back down and up.

It is due to the power to cast amount. Some of the higher Lvl spells that due less buff actualy cost less to cast then the lower lvl ones that do more buff.

I hae NO clue about the lvl 49 one since it has same cost as lvl 39 and all costs and times are the same, unless there is a typo in there.

I do not see the use of going higher then 21 myself.
I still dont get it
# Oct 30 2001 at 10:48 AM Rating: Default
I still dont get it, you say that the 1st spell (marked as 1.3) is going to turn a 4dam3delay weapon in a 7.9dam3delay weapon? Still doesnt make sence and I dont understand the math at all.

Can someone please explain what the numbers 1.3, 4.2, 8.4 and 7.9 in the damage add line mean?

And also, can someone people why they dont increase with level? is that a typo?
RE: I still dont get it
# Oct 31 2001 at 2:30 PM Rating: Default
It only reduced the delay on a weapon... Dont look at the damage.

If the delay on a weapon is 4.3 the delay will become 3.0

Thus, the damage per second will increase. Hope that helps
RE: I still dont get it
# Nov 02 2001 at 2:20 PM Rating: Default
Nope, I was wrong. it added damage to the zerks weapons I was grouped with. I have no idea what those numbers stand for then, and why they would go down some lvls instead of up all the time
Damage Add
# Oct 28 2001 at 8:33 PM Rating: Default
Unfortunately fort, damage add only applies to melee damage, which at higher levels, isn't even an option for runemasters as far as I'm concerned.
RE: Damage Add
# Oct 29 2001 at 11:46 AM Rating: Default
Just to let you know, you don't throw your Rune damage adding rune on yourself you throw it on tanks. The way it works is very simple lets use the 1st spell and a fictional 4 damage, 3 delay weapon. After said spell the reciepants weapon stat would be 7.9 damage, 3 delay or 8 damage. :)

# Oct 25 2001 at 12:25 PM Rating: Default
Is it me or do the damage add spells not make sence? Are they in the wrong order or something? what does the number even mean 4.2, 8.4, 7.9. Damage add is the most important line in darkness from what I can tell.. it would be nice if more information was avaliable.
