Hi, me again!

I have Level 16 now in stealth, still no detect hidden or distract in my ability list.
Nothing in there except of stealth!
Does it depend on race also?

thanks and regards,

whoever posted saying you cant have a specialty buffed higher than your cap is, is wrong...
also, the reason that your buffed specialty isnt showing, is most likely because the item is broken...

I am not the person you responded to but I'm very curious. I believe you, really, but I'm looking for more information. Is there a level limit before bonuses take effect or something? See, here's the deal.. I have a level 10 cabalist, 9 scout, 6 arsman, 5 cleric, 10 cabalist on another server -- K -- I've never one seen focuses bonuses do ANYTHING. On Palomides I just bought my (new) cabalist an oaken cabalist staff of body. It's, I think, 9 body, 5 matter 5 spirit. None of my skills are higher. It doesn't show at least. I rigth click the weapon (for right-click effect, testing) which of course does nothing but inspect the weapon. The thing cons yellow. Is that too high?! The staff my trainer gave me when I turned cabalist at level 5 also did nothing.

My spells/abilities are based off my TRAINED level as opposed to my "enhanced" level. In fact up until level 9 I only had a 2 in Body magic and I was still using major vitality drain and hitting green mobs for 40 damage???

So I just gotta, gotta, gotta know... WHEN, HOW, WHY?! I just don't see the point?! I also noticed my cabalist will don a 12ac robe, and then get a whopping 7ac from it?! What gives man?!

Considering I fell through the pavement in Camelot the other day, on my way to the trainer of course, only to reload at my last bind point... yes, that was real cute, was almost there too... I tend to believe there's a LOOOOOT of bugs in this game. Are you *SURE* these bonuses do something?

Hope this helps, learned it recently myself.
Focus items dont add to your skill they merely make associated spells of the level indicated less costly in power. For example with appropriate focus item cost is reduced to 95% or lower I believe.

"It's, I think, 9 body, 5 matter 5 spirit. None of my skills are higher"

I don't think they show up because they aren't meant to show up, they are active though..Mythic I am pretty sure had stated this or someone else did but its there, aslong as you can use the item ie. its meant for you.

"I also noticed my cabalist will don a 12ac robe, and then get a whopping 7ac from it?! What gives man?!"

Well I just have one question did you have a 5AC Robe?(well actually its AF not AC) on before you put your 12AF robe on? just wondering because it wouldn't add 12AF total if you looked at your AF with your other robe on.(hope thats not to confusing).

What about all the other skills mentioned about stealth like safe fall and climb? Are they going to be implemented in a patch later? I'd like to know what lvl they can be obtained so i can plan ahead, i dont want to create a character that doesn't have those skills just because i didnt know they were going to be lvl 40 skills and i only put 38 points in! =) Other than that are there any serious advantages from specing in stealth to about 38 points instead of max for a hunter? Should i spec less? Any help would be appreciated.

To any that knows:

Many saying that untill Mythic fixes it, you can go in stealth mode and go into the inner part of the realm to kill the low level newbies (past the frontier part of the realm).

Any1 know how to do it? My level 9 friend was killed by what was labled: "Saracen Invader" who was in stealth mode. This has to be someone who knew how to get past the frontier of the realm.

thanks for your help,

Buffed Stealth Quesion
# Nov 12 2001 at 5:00 PM Rating: Default
OK here's a question for you:

Is there a benefit for having a stealth that is item buffed over your level? Say i'm level 28 with 30 stealth itembuffed. Will those 2 extra points in stealth do much? heck they might I just don't see the info anywhere, also heard conflicting reports.

Also, when you right click the Stealth Icon(looks like crosshairs) it shows your stealth ability info...meaning it shows your level of stealth. I've noticed that it also shows your BASE stealth level, and not your Itembuffed stealth. Now does your stealth ability work at the level of stealth it shows, or the level of the skill you look at in the abilities menu(which should appear green if you have +stealth items, aka itembuffed)

I'm really curious about this because If your stealth skill only functions at your level, why put max points into it if you have +stealth items?

In regards to your question, no, if you are lvl 28 and have skill lvl 28 buffed=30 it will not help at all. The only time when it will help is if you have skill 26 in that area and the buff goes to 28. That way, you have +2 stealth saving you 53 spec points. However, in regards to style you will not be able to use a new style/skill from buff. Hope this answers your question.

To answer the 2 eskstra points in stealth...
They will not help you if you already have caped your skill, so to use a item that benefits a skill they will only benefit if you havnt caped em. And skill items will not give you special abilitys if you get the skill level with an item.
Its something Mythic have said themselves, look at vault.

Hope it helps.

k, whoever posted this chart is wrong. When I was level 5 I was hidden and resting when It said that ______ sees you (or something like that) Anyhow, this has to be my second most used skill (first of course being recurve bow) It is great, I can get into anywhere, and since most monsters aren't stealthy then they can't see me anyway.

stop asking about more skills.. you dont get any more.. if you dont want to be hidden then dont use the skill, but DONT plan on getting a good critical strike unless your stealth is at lest 3/4->max of your level!!! you will probably just get spotted and slaughtered if you dont have a VERY high stealh/level ratio

all u get is the ability to stay hidden, there are only about 4 skills total.. climbing and slopes have not yet been implemented by Mythic but WHEN they do, you will be able to read about it!!

Therefore I will refrain from mentioning that you aren't 50 and don't know everything. And btw I will also refrain from mentioning that a skill a lot of people have talked about in this forum is not mentioned in the above list, so why oh why couldn't that have happened to others? Until you fully spec stealth and hit fifty do us all a favor and just shut up.

I got distraction. Don't really use it, doesn't really seem to help any. If you havn't figured it out you use F5 to and the arrows to choose your ground target and then you "distract" or throw a small stone. Has yet to work for me.

if not, then theres the point to distraction(throw some rocks to distract enemies nearby, then pick off the target with an arrow... (just hope he dont yell for help))

The distraction skill is pretty good.

hold down the ground target key keep it held down and move the move to posistion the marker. then hit the distract skill.

what it does is it stop a moving critter and faces them in a direction. very usefull for when your stealthed and you need to stop the critter.
Why to raise stealth.
# Oct 25 2001 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent
For those who don't know yet... several things with hide are based off of your stealth skill. The more skill you have, the closer you can be to other creatures and still hide. If you neglect your stealth skill, you may not even be able to hide when something is in the next room over (I've had this happen). The skill also determines the chance that creatures have to uncover you, and the delay that you have to wait after combat to hide again. All of these are also based off of the level of the creature relative to you.

I was able to get Distraction to work by holding down F5 for a bit until the quardinates came up and then clicking on the hotkey. However I don't see what the point is. You throw the rock and it leaves a small stone on the ground, but the monsters seem to ignore it. Is this supposed to distract other players by leaving what looks like a bag of loot on the ground?
RE: Distraction?
# Oct 25 2001 at 2:58 AM Rating: Default
I've been able to get distraction to work only when the mobs are still, and even then you have to position the marker close to them (pretty much right next to them). If you do it right, the creature will turn to the direction that you therw the rock (usually behind so you can follow up with a backstab).

Distraction explained!
# Oct 15 2001 at 2:37 PM Rating: Decent
Hi for all those wondering how to use the distraction skill, here is how.

f5 by default is the select ground target button.

What you do is this, hold down f5, a yellow marker will appear, then use the arrow keys to move this marker to a position distant from you, the positition you want your distraction to occur.

Then let go of f5 and click on your distraction skill. Your character should make a motion and throw some rocks to the location creating a noise(distraction).

Well I hope this has been helpfull.

Actually you wont be able to see the ground target while in first person view because it defaults right below you, so you will have to move it foreward to see it, and from there you can move it around

Anyone actually figured out how to use distraction yet? Every time I try it says "You must select a location first." How do we do that? In keyboard setup there is a key for select ground target (F5 by default) but that doesn't seem to do anything. Am I missing something?
Backstab
# Oct 15 2001 at 10:42 AM Rating: Default
Does it require that the Backstab use a piercer weapon, or can you backstab with a slash style weapon? Also, found that if there is a battle already in progress near you, you cannot go into Stealth mode...Keep this in mind because like stated before you can only Backstab one time.

Info on the piercer vs slasher would be much appreciated.
RE: Backstab
# Nov 03 2001 at 12:28 AM Rating: Default
I'm not too sure about the above reply...

Most thieves depend on their opening backstab (combo) to do a huge chunk of damage. Since it's not weapon-specific and doesn't execute any faster if you have a faster weapon, I would highly recommend using a big, nasty two-hand weapon (******* sword is my personal choice) to do the combo, then switch to your weapon(s) of choice for the rest of the fight. This method also gives you the chance to use 3 types of venom (one on the 2-hand weapon) instead of just two if you usually dual-wield.

Backstab can be used with any "style" weapon you are proficient in as far as I have seen, althought I have had better results with peircing weapons.
Stealth / Backstab
# Oct 15 2001 at 3:21 AM Rating: Default
Pump up your stealth and you can use the backstab skill with it. It ROCKS! You have to go stealth, walk up behind, and stab... go figure. Kind of a pain if your teammates are already enaging it (since you walk slower), but you can still backstab (once) if you sneak into the melee.
