That is really ridiculous that you guys can't figure out how to make the ranger a worth while class, making weapon hotkeys is OH so simple. And after you do that, Rangers own.

geeze guys it isn't really that hard to use this character class if you use the simple quicky bar like you're supposed to....the setup is easy to use and your character should be able to get enough shots off before getting to melee that you shouldn't be having any problems...

there is no need to switch through inventory if you just clik on the melee weapons and such in your quicky bar it will be all don't forget that you need to hit either auto attack or i do... have your blade skillz put into quicky bar right after the blades so that as soon as you equip them you are trying to hit the creature...just put them down in a line so you hit like 4,5,6 to get your weapon, shield, then Ex; Shining Blade skill on right away

it works try it before giving up

Switching Weapons

You don't have to remove the bow from your inventory slot to switch weapons.

Make a hotkey for your bow, a hotkey for your weapon, and a hotkey for your second weapon when you get Celtic Dual.

To use the bow, click on the hotkey button once (or hit the corresponding number). This will let you wield the bow. Click it again and you will aim. Click it again and you will release (or you can wait until it says you are ready to shoot, then click it, but auto-releasing is much better). If you click it a fourth time, you will automatically reload and aim after firing. If you click a fifth time, you will automatically fire when ready. Clicking a sixth time, though, will cancel the automatic reload (if your first shot has not gone off yet).

It doesn't matter if the creature moves unless it moves out of range. No other movement is a factor (well, except for the movement towards you after your first shot -- that's where automatic reload and fire come in handy).

Using flight arrows at level 9, I can often shoot 3 to 4 arrows at my target and have my sword in hand by the time my foe gets to me.

(Oops, forgot to continue the original thought.)

Once the creature is upon you, click on the hotkey(s) for your weapons and you will automatically wield them without having to remove the bow from the inventory slot.
Bent Stick Issue

After finally receiving my bow and eventually getting it to fire, I have found it to be the WORST setup possible, since it must be removed from inventory to melee, and returned to fire again, with the hot-key for it disappearing when it is unequiped. I am deleting my Ranger and trying another route.

Hehe ok learn to use hotkeys. I think it's stated elsewhere in this thred. You don't drop the bow in inventory, and then drop your weapon in place. That would be insane.

My hot key 6 is set to my bow, 7 is my piercer, and 8 is my shield. I hit 6 (whield the bow) then 3 (to line my my critical shot) 6, 6, (i double hit 6, this releases and auto reloads) then I hit 6 and double hit 6 again (firing at will from this point on). Once the creature is disrupting my shots, I switch to my shield and piercer by hitting 8, 7

The process is seemless once you get used to some sort of similar hot key method.

Perhaps you might try experimenting a little before you write a perfectly good class off.

well first off if you didnt know this isnt an autoshoot type of deal. you have to first click on the bow or special ability then wait a few seconds. pray your prey doesnt move then click again when your ready to fire. also if you are in hibernia as a ranger you get a magic bow as your starter by your guild leader. and not sure if this is a bug or not or always in there but the leader also asks if you need arrows. just click on that and you can get as many arrows as you could possibly want but they arent worth anything to sell. but great to practice with.
