shamans

I currently have a level 46 shaman. Shamans are awesome buffers and weak healers all around anyway. If you go aug spec route. I would do most aug and minor healing for backup heals. Healers are much better healers all around and the best teams in grouping have both a shaman and healer. With the HIgh dex buffs annd high const/str buff ...shamans make a great duoing companion. Healers and shammies compliment each other greatly, much better than a healer/healer or shammy shammy duo.
Healer vs Shaman

I have a level 16 Healer and a level 12 Shaman. I would like to start concentrating on one to make her go higher. The question is, which one?
Who is more valuable when you get higher? What are the best skills to train?
Gloom's Wisdom

I'm a level 7 shaman with 7 on the aug skill. I still haven't got "Gloom's Wisdom" however. Should I have this skill by now? Or is it something the patch altered?
Mana Regen

Regarding feb 8 post,
Shaman will never be more valuable than healers,
even with their time heal u always need massive insta heals and we still have buffs that they don't. Purity line and haste line of spells are greatly appreciated by many knowledgeable group members. Don't give up on healers so easily, we're awesome.

Here, Here!!

As a Shaman I could not agree more. While the changes to the buff system defenitely increased the value of us Shaman to groups, by no means has it made us more important to Healers, just made our roles more specific than they used to.

I have found both playing my Shaman and my Warrior alt that groups work much better with one Healer and one Shaman, than with two of either of class. The Shaman give better buffs to the melees and the regen lines help reduce the need for constant heals. However, Shaman cannot do crowd control anywhere approaching the ability of the healers and when things are going very badly the healers have the insta-heals and more powerful heals to keep the groupp alive in a bad situation.

As a Shaman, I feel much better about a group when I have a healer at my side.

I couldnt agree more. while in a duo I prefer to be with my shammy friends in a larger group pulling 2-3 purples conning mobs at a time you NEED that healer. he normaly has the bigger heals and the healers mez can be a real life saver on those bad pulls. Though I have noticed that the shammys roots seem better for pulling and have the healer back the shammy with the mez.

What happened to lvl 31 Base spell Guardian's Barrier
# Feb 13 2002 at 11:57 AM Rating: Default
I am a lvl 34 Healer and have asked other Healers in my realm if this is an isue w/ them as well: Correct me if I am wrong on this. At 31 ALL Healers are supposed to get an Aug base spell called Guardian's Barrier. I still have YET to see that spell appear in my listing. Is this due to a patch "fix" when they moved the con buffs to base spells in the latest and greatest patch??? Anyone have an answer?
Healer augmentation
# Feb 08 2002 at 11:00 AM Rating: Default
Since they changed the constitution buff to a base buff rather than a spec buff, Shaman have become more valuable than Healers.

Because base buffs are limited by the level of the recipient as a result of recent changes, the constitution buffs are now less effective for the Healer, but the Shaman can now stack that buff with their combined Str/Con buff.

Also, since base heals are more efficient than spec heals, the Healer's additional spec healing lines are useless (with the possible exception of the insta-heals).

dude, your very wrong. have you seen a 2h savage in a HL raid with a healer haste buff? they hit like every 2 sec and we ALWAYS get the loot. healers mana regen is uber, when i look down at my power, it usually full when i got mana regen 5. their heals are very good, instas are great since they dont take time to cast and dont take power, im a shammy, with 47 aug and keeping it at that since i dont mind not having the last resist. healers are very valuable, healers and shamans have pretty mucch the same value.

all buffs do more than they say. so do heals. so do debuffs according to my one piece of cross-realm evidence. probably based on your spec or something.

Would be nice if the Healer and Shaman specific skills were seperated, would make it easier to read/use. Thanks.
Spec Aug Advantages
# Nov 06 2001 at 2:25 PM Rating: Decent
Probably the biggest advantage is that Shaman str/con buff stacks with the healers/shamans base str, as well as the healers con buff. Im a aug spec healer on merlin, and with a decent shaman str/con buff, as well as mine i have broken 200 con at lvl 32, which is a life saver in all situations. The running speed buff helps alot as well, because its basically a permanent sprint. If you get in trouble you sprint out of monsters melee range, then the song kicks in and you can out run anything, and its great fun when people try to run from you in pvp. Not to mention the haste spells which help alot with not only killing mobs faster but helping tanks get agro back. Then there is the damage add, which for me at lvl 32 adds about 50 damage to each of my swings with a 2h hammer (on yellow/blue cons, more for green gray, about 30-40 on red/purple cons). Which is of great help when questing or soloing for cash, not to mention pvp =).

Bottem line Aug spec for healers is great. I can still handle CC just fine, and the smallest mana buff is still noticable. Tho my mend could use some work =).

At 50, 40 aug, 32 mend and 15 pac looks the best to me. Still have the ae stuns and mezes with slightly shorter durations than a spec in its 30s, and 32 mend is about all you will have mana to cast heal wise.
Spec Buff = More Buff
# Nov 05 2001 at 9:01 PM Rating: Default
Each spec point in buffs raises the amount of all buffs. These points are baseline points only, just like the bolt damages are only baseline.

Try it yourself when you level up. Also mentioned in threads discussed by Hibernian Naturalists.
Healers pay attention! 8)
# Nov 02 2001 at 1:02 PM Rating: Default
Don't underestimate Augmentation. Healers are the only class in Midgard that get Haste (attack speed buff). This is not to be overlooked. That said however, I really see no reason to go over 31 in augmentation since all you really lose is your self dam buff, con buff and %5 additional attack speed (seriously, who is going to fully spec augmentation to ever see that +%40 attack speed buff?).
RE: Healers pay attention! 8)
# Nov 06 2001 at 2:39 PM Rating: Decent
I would say anything over 40 would be a waste. With aug spec you get new spell upgrades at 35 38 39 and 40. Each of them would be worth the points it would take to get to them, especailly with the new 40+ points that have been added in. But going over 40 would deffinately be to pricy and your other skills would suffer.
Reason your milages are varying...
# Oct 30 2001 at 4:18 PM Rating: Default
The reason it is varying (some hi and mostly low) for is your specialization is usualy lacking, or in the one case, very strong. Lack of specialization not only affect damage in DD spells but duration of mezzes, how effective buffs are, duration of roots, etc...

I'm a level 29 Shaman named Ralik, also on Merlin.

I went pretty much straight aug, and my Deep buff at 28 gives 58 str and con.. Listed here as 45. That is nothing to scoff at considering STR adds weapon skill, and that con bonus adds 116 hits.

Also, my power of the viking buffs to 52, rather than 42 as indicated, resulting in a net STR boost of 110... Huge weapon skill gain there. Didn't bother to write down the af and dex buffs, but I know they're bigger than listed here as well.

As a shaman, I'm not a big fan of augmentation.. rather have a strong mend and cave. Don't like Force of the Deep line cuz of stacking issues and it just isn't worth all the skill points for a str and con buff. A big let down there
