The secret to soloing OJ's is twofold, 1st find out what type of damage (arrow) is most effective, 2nd get the fastest bow possible. I am currently firing my crit at 3 seconds and my follow ups at 2 sec. Using a dropped (Heart piercing) bow. I can get up to 6 shots off at max range.
ok.. thx . I know that you are right, cause, yesterday i soloed 2 blues and 2 greens. (whit very low Hp after the battle) and i die to yellow mobs sometimes to. SO yea,,, you have to be very sneaky, before attacking any mob at all .
stats are ok, orange at lvl 30+ is only a decent target if its a caster and you can make use of your long range (not in a dungeon), mostly it's not worth the risk
at 40+ you will acknowledge that your defense increases rapidly blue ones have 1 20% chance of actually hitting me by now. it's the same with mobs, the higher lvl mobs get better defenses, so its pretty normal that you do orange mobs up til lvl 20 and then have to be more careful in the mobs you choose to solo
i can kill about 3 blues at once easily, but one yellow mob can wipe his back with me sometimes
At level 21, I have nice equipment. I have never soloed an orange mob and have to be carfull with yellows. Either people are exaggerating or they are using a buffing bot. But that would not really be soloing. With much higher level buffs, hunting takes on a whole game.
So from what i hear it is pointless to train in composite over 27. Is this true and can somone explain it to me? If it is true i plan on putting composite bow at lvl 27 then raise my stealth and spear till they max out. Is that a good RvR god? Can anyone shine some light on what is the best RvR god in thier opinon?? Thanks you
To be able to critical shoot someone equal to your level, your critical shot ability must be the same as your level either through item boosts or by specialization alone. If on the frontiers for RvR and a level 50 mage is in range, make sure you have level 50 in critical shot to be able to use that ability on them. Like I said, this can be done through items or by specialization alone to raise the skill that high. So, in my opinion, it is not good to leave critical shot at 27.
There are no higher Critical shots than level 27 And for the person who wanted to know about Composites bow level you get a new critical shot every 3 levels.
I would say that you could train higher in bow still because your skill with the bow has to do with how well you use it. i.e. how often you hit/miss or how hard you hit. So I don't think it is pointless to go higher just because you don't get crit hits. I notice whenever I have a +skill item like a +hammer item on my thane that I hit for more damage. This must be true for a bow, I will find out soon because I just made my hunter.
whats the idf between the great comp bow and the comp bow... in stats the dps is the same but the great comp bow is .7 slower and cost more... so why pick GCB over CB???
Although the DPS is the same, the Greater bow will hit harder but at a slower rate. I prefer this for two reasons.
1. Your critical shot, which you pull with normally, hits harder. Thereafter, youre doing the same DPS shooting at the mob as it runs towards you with either bow. 2. You fire less arrows to do the same damage, saving the time taken to make trips to the arrow merchant and saving cash.
heres the difference. Im not sure if you realize DPS means damage per second. Therefore both bows have no difference in damage over time. Great comp does high damage, but its slower. The reason it costs more is best explained in the Hunter FAQ linked in a previous msg. (you can only decrase a weapons delay by half)
I noticed that most of the best arrows, thoes being the x-long, x-heavy, improved accuracy ones and all of the more expensive (good) arrows are "slash weapon" being the Sword skill type, while the lesser arrows are "thrusting weapon" being Spears. Can anyone tell me if you use spears and use a slash damage arrow if it will improve or lessen dammage, accuracy, and range. I personally hope this is some sort of error or not relevant, because I want to be the best possible archer I can be but I also put my spec points into spear... Can anyone shed any light on this for me and everyone else? Thanks, Sukarik-
thought i might mention that spears in midard are Slash weapons too, the different arrows damage types make them more or less effective, depening on the targets armor/skin type... thrust arrows are good for chain wearers, bad for boney undead... slash ones are better in general. And no, your weapons skills in spears/swords makes no difference from what i've seen, tho dex helps tons
I think arrow damage and chance to hit is dependent upon bow skill, and perhaps dexterity in chance to hit. Arrow damage also is derived from the quality of arrow you use.
Thus, it should not matter if the arrow is thrust or slash; I believe it is your bow skill, not spear, that decides the damage and chance to hit of your arrows.
Hi. For all the hunters out there with questions LOOK AT THIS http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp...6150&replies=32
This site tells you every thing and why. weapons, stats, how to, typs of hunters I remade my 6th level hunter after reading this. In 1 weekend with little play time I am a 9th lev hunter that kills yellow 95% + of the time : )
Heheh actually....killing yeallow 95% of the time isnt that col for a lvl 9 hunter....i am lvl 8 myself, and i do oranges 75% of the time ad yellows allways :-)
I have 6 comp bow, and 6 spear (only raise to 10) and beastcraft 4, and my hunter is great in groups...and very good solo to :-)
First off, do will we get these beacuse i heard they are scout only, second if we do does anyone have any information on these or links to info beacuse i would enjoy knowing.
Ok I understand how to shoot and use the bow, I still have a sword but have to put the bow back in my pack After I use it before I can start using the sword, What I am I missing here?
I use a sword instead of a spear, no points have gone to spear, and i've put about 6 into sword, so u can imagine where the rest went ..... Is my choice to use sword gonna ***** me later.. What i've been doing now is using a two handed sword for a couple big hits, then using a dagger, or fast onehander to finish off . works well actually.
You start at lvl 5 with Crit Shot 1. Keeping my bow skill maxxed each level, I received Crit shot 2 at lvl 8 and Crit Shot 3 at lvl 10. I haven't played my hunter much further than that, but that's what i've noticed so far. Hope it Helps
At level 50 can the bow skill go beyond 50 due to buffs? Lets say I max the base skill to 50, and I get an item that adds +10 to bow.. will i get 60 bow skill?
Right now I am level 20 and have an item that causes my bow skill to be 21. Will the same be for 50?
Your skill can go higher then your level, but there is NO benefit whatsoever to having a skill level higher then your player level. This has been very specifically stated numerous times by Mythic themselves. Having 50 skill at level 50 will give the exact same benefit as have 100 skill at level 50 (though I'm quite sure it's impossible to get nearly that high) Having 47 skill at lvl 50 with +3 to the skill via items gives you 50 skill and saves you almost 150 training points to use on other skills. It's important to realize that +skill items do NOT give you skill based abilities or spells. Having 47 skill with a +3 skill item will not get you any abilities that are obtained at 48,49, or 50 skill such as spells or combat styles. But you will have an effective 50 skill for success and damage calculations.
Are you sure it on't allow you to critical shot creatures above your level? When I do a critical shot on a creature who's level is higher than my bow skill, I usually do less damage than a regular shot. This is the only bebefit I could see from having bow skill higher, but again it's just a theory.
You can get your crit shot ready... send in pet... then fire before your pet gets there. You will still get the crit if your shot gets off before your pet hits them. Remember... if your pet is engaged you cannot do a crit shot. You can still get a critical hit... but that is just part of the game and not this skill. I do 101 now with my bow and I am a level 13 Hunter. Nothing like getting the kills down to half before they arrive then still spearing them and doing more damage than many tanks out there :)
almost forgot. if the monster is in combat you cannot use critical shot to hit it. it will autoswitch to a normal shot. wasting a good deal of time aiming in the process. bascially critshot is an opener. after that its just clicking the bow on your quickbar a bunch.
put your bow on your quickbar. click it once to equip it ( if you already have it equiped it will start the aiming process). click it again to aim it. click it again to fire it. repeat.
slightly more complicated version: click the bow once to equip it. click your crit shot button. click the bow twice. to auto release and reload. when you fire. click the bow twice again to auto release and reload again. repeat till monster is meleeing you. click the sword you should have on your quickbar. hit your attack key
I currently have Crit Shot IX. For those of you who were not understanding how it works here it is. I have my bow in slot one on the hotbar, and Spear in slot two. I have Crit Shot on the 8th spot. I get in range, and hit 8 to start the Critshot, then I tap 1 twice to autoshoot and reload, then keep doubletapping 1 to autoshoot and reload until its close enough to melee. The reason Crit Shot Isnt working for you, is because you have been hitting it twice which automatically switches it back to a regular shot. Hope that helps.
