Keltoi Fogou

Type:Dungeon
Realm:Albion
Min Level:15
Max Level:30
Description:
The Keltoi are a very spiritual people and often gather in secluded places to live, worship, or practice their spiritualistic arts. These people use the fogou as their spiritual center for ceremony, initiation and teaching. Birth and death rituals are conducted in it as it is seen as a transition zone between this world and the next. Some scholars theorize that it may also be used for initiations involving entombment where the initiates are sealed in for a time to face the underworld in order to over-come fear and so emerge 'reborn'. It is never used for burial. The whole site is considered a sacred space and its design is perhaps not so much to keep invaders out as to keep certain forces in. Those who have journeyed there and back claim that it has the feel of a world apart.

/loc for Keltoi is about 60k 54k in Campacorentin Forest

I am a level 15 wizard and jesus it's fun. I love playing the game and grouping with who ever. I love helping younger mages grow. freezing while they cast. It makes the game more real. interacting with the people around ye and the whole idea of...for the good of the realm. I created a guild in percival THE WATCH just for this purpose. TO go out and help anyone and everyone. levels will come with time. and if we help each other..they will come faster.

I've fought in Keltoi for about 3 of my past levels and have seen several different types of groups come and go. Simply put those with a person that is under level 15 are not going to last (esp. if they have more than 1 person under 15). With all the extras that are picked up having a few "leaches" in the group will most likely result in the entire groups demise...

not necessarily true. but keltoi is known for mobs that run up and just start attacking random party members whether they cause agro or not. Nisse's Lair in midgard is another big one for that.

perhaps the mob code makes them go for lower levels. but if the leader is worth a damn, he'll tell the low guys to stick back, use a main puller, etc. common sense group tactics. i dont recommend this dungeon without a healer tho. those keltoi banishers (swordsmen) are agro, and hit for 100+. caster nightmare :)

some of u seem to understand it is just a game. as for 15 being to low some guild members let me tag along with them at 15 i had a ball i died once but i understand the cleric saving power to heal the bigger tanks that is np i dont mine. i got big time xp from it. as for soloing at 15 good luck since most things bring adds and are purple at 15. as for low lvl group members as long as it is not the main tank i have np with lower lvl chars. in my groups.

ps if your going to die plz yell or something if im standing there ill help so will most people but getting flammed for helping some a-hole who is about to die and getting accused of ks dose upset me.

Frustration
# Jan 12 2002 at 7:45 AM Rating: Decent
Why is it that everyone seems to be so angry with one another? This is only a game. It is not RL. It is supposed to be fun. These forums are supposed to be a help to other people, not a place to bash one another. Save that for the RvR. What the original messages intended was to give helpful advice. It is not written in stone. You have the CHOICE to listen. If you want to take a low level character somewhere dangerous thats your CHOICE. No one else has the say. You all remind me of kindergarten students fighting over a toy. Lets all grow up a little and stop bashing people trying to give helpful advice. Life would be much peaceful that way. You know, the peace that soldiers are fighting and dying for now and have in the past. Please be kind.

I know. It seems bad that when you see someone in trouble and if he is near a group of people you have to have him acknowledge the fact he is in trouble because you have had way to many people blame you for KSing there enemy.

My first time in the dungeon was at lvl 14 and i was asked to come i was only healer in the group 2 tanks had protect on me and our group laid waste to ant room within 4 or 5 hours I was 19 melee and casters would have a hard time hitting the mobs but healers can do fine if youve got a couple good tanks to protect you.

Is it just me, or does anyone else see at least a little bit of irony in many of the rants on this thread? Everyone likes to lash out at the "young and immature" of the game, despite the fact that their long-winded rants do nothing but make them sound like the "young and immature" that they are scorning.

Just a thought...

I really don't see what the problem is for level 15's going in Keltoi. Most likely, if you know a single thing about dungeons, you'll be more of a HELP than a HINDRANCE...especially if you're a cleric or a friar. I came in here at level 15 with my friar and kept several party members alive with my heals. Even as a tank, I don't think you'd be a hindrance for a group unless you were the only tank. Most likely, if there were other tanks, you couldn't take the aggro from them unless you taunted every single swing for some unknown, moronic reason.

I went into keltoi at level 13 (armsman) with highest player at 15 (only group in keltoi being as I play UK ver and we only just started), it was fine, you just have to be careful not to overpull.
RE: hmm

I just take what I can get out of it. The poster was basically saying that the dungeon is tougher than the 15 lvl minimum suggests, and that's fair advice. Mithra was the same way for me, min level may be 7 but I didn't start having fun until 9. So I buy the warning here.
As far as not being willing to accept lower levels into his group; I guess that's his choice. Sometimes (most times) I don't mind power leveling somebody, but other times (I admit) I'd rather group strong and gain some experience. I rarely object to any cleric over tenth level because my Paladin can almost always hold the monsters aggro through anything the cleric can do. I usually let scouts in just as a duty to the realm - they are supposed to be awesome in RvR but they can't level well unless someone gives them a break, so I do. I don't shed tears if somebody massively too low for the group dies, though; that's the chance you take for trying to powerlevel.
Overall, I say "thanks for the warning", and I don't sweat the flames. It's just a game.

Oh. And "Yes". I do see the irony. It's not just your imagination. ;)
Minimum level 17
# Dec 11 2001 at 3:53 PM Rating: Default
I don't recommend this place to anyone under 17. I came early (at 13) and I was way out of my league.

I'm at 18 now and I can just get by. I see some 15's about, but they are just a burden at that level. You are totally useless at 15 since absolutely everything will con purple for a while. You will miss and/or get resisted all the time.

I came back at 17 and still couldn't do anything without a good sized group. Even then, we got wiped out a few times.

So if you want to do Keltoi, do everyone a favour and don't even show up until you are at least level 17. You could come a bit earlier if you bring your own party and don't mind dying all the time. Otherwise, no one really wants to group with someone that low. You can't contribute anything to the party and you just take valuable time/power from the healer.

I don't mean to discriminate against lower levels, I group with them all the time, np. I just mean that you will not be even close to ready until 17. I see posts about "I came at 13" or 15, please don't. Nobody likes a leech, and that's all you would be until at least 17.

I find this whole thread somewhat humorous. Me and a tight group that hunts together all the time went in the other night, level range 15-19.
I got there first and got in a pickup with a group of 20-22, me at 16. We got so wiped out it was sad. No organization, pulls all over that place, nobody controlling agro. Death and mayhem for all.
Then after the third death in 15 minues. My regular group makes it in. We moved from the entrance to the blue room and spent 5 hours with one death, not a total party wipeout, one death.

Our tank pulled with a crossbow, nobody did a thing to it, and he turned and attacked the add. We all concentrated on not doing any more damage than he had. One down, one to go. Healer casts on tank, mob pulls to healer as tank uses enrage. Back on tank. Small heals are the secret for the healers, small and only as often as needed. I am a wizard, so I had to control myself so as not to pull agro, but i made it through easy enough. I went from 16 to 19 in five hours.
It is possible, dont rule out the level, rule out the disorganized and over nuking. A well organized and smart group can handle alot more than the levels would indicate.

I would recommend not comig here at low levels for a pickup group, you will be toast. a good tight group with and average around 17-18 will do great and level like mad.

So when I turn 15 with my cleric Im only a burden?

Hmm okay...

Dont you think with a good healer or 2 and a higher enough tank to keep agro on him people should be okay?
RE: Minimum level 17
# Mar 29 2002 at 3:49 PM Rating: Default
If your a good cleric, know when to heal, and can keep a cool head, then yes a 15th level cleric could do well here. We had one that's only job was to run if things went bad, then return and rez group (didn't happen often). He was also an emergency back up healer for the main healer (which was me! saved my life a few times, keeping me alive until the tanks could get the agro). Just remember to have fun, and don't worry about anyone silly enough to swear and call you names on a forum.

No because when you heal, mob will come to you and it may take time to taunt it off. and at lower lvl, you may not have enough HP to survive. Then everybody dies. The AI on this game is very smart
RE: Minimum level 17
# Mar 31 2002 at 10:03 PM Rating: Default
not that smart, but i have seen adds target people who didnt cause aggro. they seem to often be healers and nukers. maybe my imagination tho...

Keltoi is quite dangerous, but if you are smart, youll do fine. it is highly dangerous to lower level casters, because the damage here is absolutely punishing.

I came here at 17 and leveled very fast here. Got to 22 in about a day. After that this place REALLY got on my nerves. There are a lot of KSers here and it is impossible to find a group and if you do manage you can plan on dying really fast. My suggestion is to go in, level, get some gear then leave and never return.

OK lets all be perfectly honest here. Anyone, I don't care what class or level, has to acknowledge the fact that any 15 character going into Keltoi is going to his *** kicked. Period. I thought I was tough enough to go down into Keltoi at 15 and lost 3 bubbles of exp before i wised up and admitted that this place was WAY outta my league.

This zone gathers all the idiots in your realm in one place. Be prepared to be ksed all the time. And if you are on Merlin, watch out when grouping with members of the Children of the Light. We had vindy pants drop, and 1 guy was still wearing Forlorn, vindy went to a CoTL member, and this guy is like " sorry, I need em for a guildmate". And this is not the first time these guys have done this to ppl. Beware.

Then I hope he was immeidately kicked out of the group and told to leave, and that a warning went out over guild channel to tell the rest of the guild about it.

If not, then you're a fool.
RE: I hate this zone
# Dec 21 2001 at 5:42 PM Rating: Default
Exactly. Do NOT tolerate that behavior. If I played on Merlin, I'd NEVER group with that guild if thats how they operate. However by the same regard, if you get the auto split, it IS yours. I mean, I play a cabalist and when Im in mithra and leggings of the forlorn drop, I sell them for 13silver to help pay for my next staff. That's rigth, but then again I'm normally solo.

The only time I don't give armor drops that I get to people who can use it in the group is when they're greedy. The people who die, then decide to quest on their way back, or level and leave and stay int he group and just be jerk offs in general, wasting yer time. People who the second any dang thing hits the floor that they may have some remote desire for, they'll be like "can I have that?". Yeah. I met a guy like this my first 2 days in the game. I promptly told him to **** off. I'm sorry, but 1 cabalist asking another cabalist to give up a +1 intellect item that they BOTH can use, AND needed since neither had one, is selfish, self-centered, BS. "rare" drops in this game are NOT really rare people. Nnonononononononononononono GO PLAY EVERQUEST IF YOU THINK THIS GAME IS HARD OR FRUSTRATING. But, whatever you do, BURN ALL THE IDIOT GUILDS AT THE STAKE!

Oh, forgot to mention.. Here's what's cool about camelot, you get to SLAUGHTER PEOPLE! The only downside is I wish I could find jerks in albion on my server, join midgard, cross over to the frontier and kick the crap outta everyone that pisses me off. Too bad I don't think it even displays their names.. =( let alone lets you join 2 realsm on the same server..(it doesnt). K, if it wasn't for the fact that it'd take like a REAL TIME YEAR in everquest to make a good character up to par with what yer level 55 butt is used to, to play on a pvp server or just a duelist on a blue server, I probably would for these reasons.

To me, this game is about taking out your aggresions on the jerkoffs out there in the gaming world, just like YOU

Hail and well met!

The dungeon entrance is at the aformentioned coordinates. It is a rather unassuming stone archway set back against the hillside with a Druid grove in front of it.

To get there, head SE from Caer Ulfwych and down the road a short ways. When you see the large oak trees off to your left, start heading SE E NE(compass). You will see a ring of stones ahead, but be careful around this area. A single, sometimes two Black Lioness (purple to me at 18) roam the area. As you see the ring of stones, cut to the SW S SE (compass) and follow the hill (zone wall) until you see the stone archway. Be careful after you leave the stone rings as Giant Bloated Spiders roam and will easily attack you en masse!

Safe travels!

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 21 2001 at 5:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Alright, for those of you less talented or just simply slow individuals.. there is no SE E NE compass heading. Christ. It's telling you if you're dead on east, or leaning more east by southeast, or what. WHATEVER IS IN THE MIDDLE, IS YOUR DIRECTION! Also, use /loc. It gives 4 numbers. First is east / west (forget longitude/lattitude, cuz im a tard like you), the second is north/south, the third is elevation, and the fourth is your exact direction.

Aye this dungeon has some lower level mobs near the entrance but as someone who has fought here since 15th with some of my older guild mates we are still doing it at 20+ and not to the bottom of the thing yet. some really cool plate drops and speaking from the postion of a polearm using armsman I got a Keltoi honed hammer. It was red to me at 17 and at 19 it is still orange and one very hard hitting weapon. It hits for about half again as much damage as my steel enchanted lucern hammer even though I am not as good with slash polearms as crush polearms. Also some staff drops are not uncommon as well as a very nice mantle( cloak) with +2's and 3's to dex, con, and str.(dont remember for sure which one is which)

Halberds use the highest base skill you have instead of just slashing. In your case, crushing, which explains why it performed so well for you.
