If you are level 13 (about), [arnt an armsman,] cant find a single place to hunt, and there is no group that is your level, try soloing the promise room. Everything (the guards and the promise) were either blue or green to me, a 13 infilt. You get about .05 for greens and .08 for blues, which is pretty good for most Mithra soloing.
my 12th level palading and a 13th level merc reeked havac here, we were barely hurt taking on reds and oranges. Went from 12 to 13 in under an hour and got lots of goodies. Like a pair of golden bracers (+12 hp) and a cool sword (+2 slash, +2 strength)
whoops anyway i have a pally who is under 10 but rox and a 22 scout who can well own stuff pretty well i neet to know the name of that sword listed below, so i can impale the holder's head opon an arrow ;)
hey everybody! This is an awesome place to go for a large group of lvl 5-7 to group! if you get a lage group of casters, healers, and a couple of tanks, this is an awesome place to lvl up. just stay at the top of the tomb and pull smartly. all mobs will be purple, but you will be able to take them out, have your healer, only heal a certain tank or casters, have the other heal diff ppls, might be hard, but you can get about 1 bulb per kill, at lvl 5. nice.
with the exception of quest drops, everything in DAoC is random. everything has a chance to drop everything. ive gotten Forlorn, Staves, and weapons off of nearly every mob there, including silly ones like Bleeder. what's a lizard doing with a staff?
I'm a level 12 Friar and I've been having a ball soloing the first floor in Mithras. I could probably go a little deeper but I'm an admitted chicken and prefer playing it safe. The "square" near the entrance is all green and blue to me. All my equipment is yellow and I can take 2-3 mobs at a time without worry.
I fill up on loot within 1/2 hour (even dropping the nonsense stuff) and have gotten some pretty good drops for my lower level characters (yes, I'm a newbie). For me, this is safe, fun and profitable hunting after a hard day's work when I want to kick back and relax. Granted, it's not "powerhunting" but I don't mind the tradeoff of xp for loot when I'm in the mood. I run to the bandit tower to the NW to sell when I'm full (except for the special items, of course) -- run back and fill up again. When I start filling up with special items, I hit the Keep and/or Camelot and hand out any duplicates to lower level peeps and depo the rest in the Vault until I can distribute it to my other chars.
Hello! Im a Fire specced (no comments plz)Wizard that enterd this dungeon at lvl 7, by this time I was fully specced in fire, and had a full party, almost all of them at higer lvls than me. It tured out that I was lucky to have such a good group, because I didnt do any dmg to the creatures there. So dont go to this dungeon if you fire specced or dont use fire in this dungeon.
that is odd. many of the guides ive seen list undead as vulnerable to fire. insects hate ice, humanoids (bandits and such) are mixed.
perhaps it was just bad luck? or maybe the mobs were a little high for you. im slaughtering skeletons with my fire wizard, blue mobs dont even reach me. yellows seem to take significantly less dmg from DD and bolt spells. blues i can do 1/3 life or more per hit.
Im a level 11 theurg and am wondering if there is any loot worth while for me in here it seems the main thing is this forlorn armor which is totally useless so if any one knows of some good magic items in here for a theurg it would be appreciated
Something is wrong with you or your tactics. I'm a level 9 friar, not especially well equipped (read - alt) and I can solo the appropriate areas just fine.
Would it be possible for a level 7 armsman to solo here? Or would I have to group with someone? If you play on the Igraine server and you want to group the first level or something send me a tell.
You will have a hardtime soloing here at 7th. I don't want to say you "can't" because you may be a better player than I, but I will say that I doubt you will have much fun. And you will probably die a lot if you go past the entrance. You can probably group OK if you are with a smart group. But that's always the trick- finding a "smart" group. I died more times in here because of nimrods than I can count. However, the groups do seem smarter lately, so you may get lucky. Find a group of around 10th levels who are gonna camp the "Promise" room and attach yourself to them. Don't wander around in between spawns; stay near the healer and appoint yourself her bodyguard. Join in the fights, but let the higher level fighters take the aggro. You will be most effective hitting from behind because the monsters will be orange or red to you. Offer to share any forlorn armor that auto-splits to you because it will probably be red to you anyway. You have many levels to find more and there is no point getting a rep as greedy so early. Forlorn armor is orange at 10th level and stays yellow until about 14th, so you see, I'm not advising you to be stupid - If you take the armor at 7th it will have a durabilaty of 3 by the time you hit the levels where you need it. A good rep as a smart and "team" player will get you on a lot of "friends" lists. That ensures plenty of help when you need it, and will yield large returns over time.
BTW I'm sorry, but my characters on Igraine are Hibernian, so I can't group with you. But, on the bright side, maybe I can kill you on the frontier! ;)
Love this dungeon. Once you hit 10th, it's time for you to for-go groups for awhile and solo the first floor of Mithra. The mobs will all be blue, and the loot is just fabulous. (Because you don't have to share any of it ;-)
I started in here at 9th. By 10th I had a full suit of Forlorn (Armsmen). Now I'm 11th and the mobs on the first floor are still blue, so excellent exp and loot like crazy. You'll have a completely full inventory in less than an hour, with average sell rates of 50 to 400cp per item. (And some rare items that sell for 1500, but those you want to hang on to so you can trade them)
At 10th you should be pulling down 1gp an hour in cash and loot. Less than that and you're doing something wrong.
Exp in here seems low - took me a couple of hours to get from 10 to 11 in mithra with it being quiet (maybe 10 people tops). I was soloing though which always seems slow compared to grouped exp.
Just to let you all know there is a dagger that drops from the cyclops in the main room. It is very very rare to get though. I myself have never seen it, but one of my guildmates got one and sold it. There is a multitude of other weapon drops as well..some nice staves and 1hs weapons. So if you got a full set of Forlorn and still in lvl range keep looking for other items. I dont remember all the stats on the weapons unfortunatly as it has been quite awhile since I was there and like the forlorn it can drop from any mob except the dagger I mentioned. Good luck and happy hunting.
I was doing my soloing as I usually do in the Fallen room. There were a couple others in there when all of a sudden, the regular guardsmen were all gone. It is common since many peeps are in there wacking away, but this time was different. All of a sudden, the whole room was popped by fallen paladins, fallen clerics and a named ugly. It was a nasty death. Just a warning for all those who venture in.
Hey, I just happened to come across that a couple of days ago, was grouped with a cleric, and I pulled all the fallen paladins, and great exp, but then a dumb high-level group came in and aggroed everything. Rats.
hehe.. yep. You don't see them often in the Promise Room.. but some fallen clerics, fallen paladins and a big Roman skeleton guy popped all at once. I was against the back wall, and didn't catch anything. But most of the others died. They set that up so that people don't camp the room I guess. Now I am level 16 Arms and I head in there every now and again and see if the clerics and paladins are back. They have been a few times.. usually when it's not very crowded, early in the morning.
When you have a full suit of forlorn does it does it combined into something magical? I have a full suit and when I got my last piece it said the force of forlorn flows through you?
Every piece says "the force of Forlorn flows through you". =P You just didn't notice it before. All magic armors with stat bonuses have a "force that flows through you".
All you get when you have a full set is a matching light teal suit of chain armor.
This dungeon is exelent for anyone with any solo ability. I cam here as an armsman at lvl 10 soloed the first floor easy. By the time I made lvl 11 I had a full set of forlorn, a very exelent random dropped chain armor. So for all you chain wearing classes make sure you stop in here before lvl 13 and solo the first floor to get some nice free armor.
Forlorn Armor, like any drop in this dungeon, has a chance of appearing on any monster you encounter here, which is why this is such a good solo dungeon. Some pieces are rarer than others, however--for example, the Hauberk is, reportedly, much rarer than the other pieces of Forlorn, which tends to jack the price up back in town.
I and a buddy, for instance, had a Hauberk drop last night from one of the doomed minions that pops up behind the promise room. It was just the two of us, and I outdamage him, so I picked up the aggro and died right before my partner finished the weasel off. After a rather fortuitous rezz, it turns out he had one already, so he gave it to me (felt bad that I'd let myself get steamrollered, I suppose. Not that I'm complaining).
