Koalinth Tribal Caverns

Type:Dungeon
Realm:Hibernia
Min Level:20
Max Level:30
Description:
The Koalinth are a coastal / marine species of hobgoblins. A tribe of the Koalinth have migrated from their traditional homelands which are under the sea off of the coast. They have taken over a series of caves and ancient tunnels near the Cliffs of Moher. From here they stage hunting raids on nearby settlements, and can still reach the sea easily to communicate with their homeland. It is unknown why these creatures are moving from their natural element to invade the lands of Hibernia, which until now they have largely avoided. The fact that they would undertake such a drastic move hints at darker powers.

Peligan Blade Cutter

I parked a toon in there to farm a scythe for my VW. After 2 days of logging in and out and killing Koalinth Guardians, Elder and Pelligan Alliant I finally got the scythe Pelligan Blade Cutter off of the Pelligan Alliant The mobs also drop lots of armor & gems that would be decent for Thid toons.

Not bad loot coming outta here from main room to left branch and wrestlers. For a newb 2 bot 20 sword/board hero and warden have managed to get in 5 quick bubns of exp,

Hero
shield 7.2 dps with damage mod
bracer with 7 dex con and str
reinf abanded boot 44 favct with stats
reinf abandoned coif with 44 and stats

warden
ring with 10 emp 7 str and hits
bracer with 7 dex con emp
reinf abanonded boots

also nice for my 10 ranger a red con to 20 abonded bow 8/4 or sum en

Decent cash mostly

Overall very uglee dungeon and critters, leaves alot to be desired but perf spot for me wanting to farm gear (had farmed 3 complete sets of worn dark guardian) and wait on slower leveling friends.

Mainly happy with filling those wrist and ring slots as they had been seriously lacking and not knowing anything (soleley pve solo) this gear rocks as drops compared to that p.o.s. sony game i wasted 3 years on :)

Eukesha 20 Sword & Boarder
Duneadun 20 Bubble Warder

and
Dyrks 10 Piercing "what the hell is a bow till later" Ranger

...stumbled upon this with my lvl25 Animist while farming in the Koalinth Caverns.

Druid Tobryn NPC in Tir Urphost gave this to Belynda at lvl25. Kill 2 named Koalinths (Koalinth Castellan and Koalinth Elder), inside the caverns to recieve two items and return to the Druid.

Depending upon what is the lowest level for picking this up, this is a great group quest... I have killed the first mob solo with difficulty (he has a bad case of Pelegian Crabs), and the second mob has a few tied mobs... great for groups me thinks...

I completed it with my main lvl48 Shade and got a lvl27 Waterspun Belt of the Hidden, so I'm guessing it class related items, which is nice, but no xp other than from the kills I guess...

Stats on the belt are;
Dex+7
Con+7
Stl+2

Also when you return the items to the Druid he makes a Talsiman which you have to go back to the mouth of the caves (i.e., not zone into the Caverns themselves), and USE the item, upon which a Koalinth Defender pops immediately and attacks... you then return to the Druid and tell him 'cavern is not sealed'.

Not many adventurers do I usually see here. If Spraggons Den is Calcutta, Koalinth Tribal Caverns is Norberg :P
Anyway, this place isn't very decorated, and most of the time all the drops you get is cash. Though there are some really neat pieces of armour /weapons / jewellry drops do be had here, of you're lucky!
Suitable from 18+, with a group, I'd say. Mobs con mostly orange and red and purple to me (19)

Koalinth is like a cold, abandoned Kinder Egg

how to get here
# Aug 08 2002 at 7:13 AM Rating: Default
first, if u r near Mag Mell, get a horse form there to Howth. u should jump at Ardargh (the first village past Tir Na mBeo) and get a horse from there to Tir Uphost. u can ride all the way to TU, but i found it easier just to jump at a little white keep before TU. from here, just follow the road (not the road that leads off to the right)and eventually u shoudl make it to Koalinth tribal caverns. be careful about aggro on the way if u r under lvl 20. have fun

I was lvl 22 and helped out some other group that was lower as I was. I had never been there before, and the entry guards conned green to me, I took em out solo and went in. Every thing was green to me, some blue's tho. The others had a great time, and so did I, always good to help. Didn't get in there after that, but I will do it again someday just to help out (would be sprag den then).

It's not the fastest, but the easiest way to get there is once you get to Tir Upholst, go directly south, you will run into it if the wraiths dont kill you :)

To get there:

when you come out of Nog on the north side follow trail to the left. you will come to a tower with gaurds. just a little bit farther down the trail are lots of gales. con red at (13)

make a left to the zone wall when you see the gales and turn right when you get to wall. the follow wall till you saee caves on your left.

Brief Description

Very good "farming" money making zone. Guess designers were rushed, like anon said above, only thing dropped is cold hard cash, and a decent amount of it. Dungeon consists of a main "square" of rooms, with a branch off on one side to a "wrestling" room, complete with spectators, bouncers, and wrestlers.

Another branch off of the main large square leads to a thin bridge across a chasm, with spell casting (mainly DD and de-buffs) Wardens in this room. Down in the chasm there are some social toads, and also a room with some shock and regular auqa slugs. (These are all level 22-25 I would guess on average).

Continue on across the main bridge leads to some tougher guards, and the passage winds around in a descent, eventually leading to another room witha branch. One side leads to a high level spellcasting elder, flanked by two crabs and lots and lots of guardians (8-12). The other branch leads to more crabs, and it winds down in a descent, but I didn't venture down that way.

Overall a good dungeon for making money, but don't expect any good random loots.
