Personally... i dont like this dungeon, its kinda boring and the xp isnt all that great. Ill get back to that.

Aight... here are the simplest direction i can give you.

There is a guard tower north of Howth. Go behind that guard tower and go west over the hill. Once you are at the bottom of the hill, turn right and you should see the den. It looks like a giant rock.

Groupwise, a healer is a must. Perferably a druid at this point, but im a little biased ;-) Anyway, have a tank and a couple of casters and you should be golden. Tank is there pretty much to pull aggro off your casters or healer.

Be aware, some of these mobs BAF. Actually, several do. Be on standby for someone to root incase too many come.

Also, there is a named mob in a part of the dungeon named Tabor. He looksn like a giant sprag. He was red to me @ 23. Be careful, when he dies, his ghost comes and he con grape to me and hit with some nice spells. Be careful

Earthen Defender is not at all hard to get.All you need to do is go to the enchanters or whatever you thing will drop(enchanters have it most.)It has been red to me for a long time atleast 3 levels you can keepvit till level 30 I think.

Max level too low

There is no way 25 is the max level for this dungeon. I play a level 25 Eldritch. He is still in there looking for Earthen Woven Root Pants and some things still con orange. Most are green to yellow now, but he will be able to hunt here until 30 I'd say.

And I still laugh when people say 25 is too high for a group there. Compare the exp you get in a full group there to what you get solo, you are still coming out ahead and the drops are great for the level you can get in there at (and stay there to.)

Just bring two or three healers and a couple of tanks along, if you plan to go deep.

The above post seems like it refers to Muire's Tomb, not the Spraggon Den.

The level 20 or higher warning is a little paranoid for Muire's Tomb except, perhaps, when soloing. I have been in 6-8 character parties between levels 13 and 17 and have had great success (and panicked disasters!) in the lower levels of the Tomb.

Yeah, he's right.. it seems. A lot of people talk trash about how hard muire's tomb is..so after I went as a level 9 and saw purple everywhere, I stayed out until 19th..and went in and destroyed dozens of grey con mobs..soo.. dunno..consider the subject and consider the source i guess..

In terms of spraggons den..I've come here to read about it because a ranger I know has been hunting there since level 22, and she is now 24 ..she groups..and solos in there.. so..
EASIEST WAY TO GET THERE
# Dec 05 2001 at 9:49 AM Rating: Default
simpliest way to go:
go to bind stone in Howth
go "DIRECTLY" NorthWest
after "TWO" hills, you'll end up directly on the entrance.

Great farming for high 20s, and the fastest exp I could find for low-mid 20s. A good group can get 2-3 levels a day down here, as well as pretty decent EarthCrafted armor (cloth, leather, reinforced and scale sets), with excellent stats, some of which was yellow to level 31. Some of the best magic rings and bracers currently in the game for Hibernia can be found here (I found rings here that were better than items from Treibh Caillte).
Loc + Loot

Easy to find, go north from Howth on the road till you get to a guard tower. Turn left (west) and go over your first hill. On the ohter side at the bottom turn right and it's right there. Loot is fantastic in here. Found a ring that gave +3 to parry and it was a lvl 19 magic item, staves, jewelry, etc. abound. We had 4 tanks, a mantalist and me (Bard) with avg lvl. being 21. No sweat.

Ok, from Ardagh, head SW. When you come to the feire ring (circle of mushrooms), head West up a little hill, then SW through a ravine, you can't miss it.
P.S.

It is possible to find all the loot from the first group of mobs, but this is usually camped, and I suggest going in deeper since it is more fun, and less "trains" from the people stalking the dungeon entrance. It also proposes a bit more of a challenge, and it is nice to be able to "crawl" through the dungeon, rather than sit and camp. Unto each their own, however.

After spending considerable time here, here is the scoop on this place.

We had a full group of 8.

19th Hero (Shield/Blade)
23rd Champion (Shield/Blade)
22nd Druid (mix)
19th Warden (mix)
19th Ranger (Bow/Pierce)
18th Mentalist (Heal/Nuke)
23rd Bard (Heal/Buff)
21st Eldritch (Void)

This group was the most successful we had, and I recomend a balanced group.

You can get by with 1 tank, but I'd recomend 2. Sorry, but blademasters are not tanks. :( If you have 1 tank, you'd better have a 23+ mezzer since almost all pulls are multiples.

Most attacks in here are Earth Based. Half of the mobs root/snare, and they hit my 21st level Hero for 120+ PB spells/melee hits.

2 Healers is a must.

Like all dungeons, it seems, the spawn times are completely random and can be as quick as a few seconds to as long as a several minutes. Lots of wanderers, few "safe areas" once you get into it. Group needs to be smart since there are tons of mobs that were purple to 21, and most are red to 21. Keeping mana up is vital, and being "ready" will be hard to keep up. A bard and mentalist really help here.

Its all spraggons, some worms, rock sprites, earth sprites, etc. The loot is COMPLETELY random. Loot?

This is a list of things we found so far. I will not give stats because I dont believe in that sort of thing.

Earthen Defender: Kickass tank sword. It adds to all the defensive skills. Orange to 21

Earthen Shield: Best shield I've ever seen. Large Heater Shield. The sword and shield match color and look very unique. Yellow to 21

Worm Tipper: Spear. Didn't use it much, but yellow to 21.

Rock Dagger: Crappy.

Caster Staves: Add to all your caster spell skills, and add HP.

Rib Tickler: Very nice pierce and can be used in off-hand. A must have weapon for dual wielders in pierce.

Several magic rings and bracers. Found ring that adds to all melee skills. Rings that add to all caster skills and add power. Found bracers and necklaces that add to stats and resists.

Nice bard drum.

Reinforced Armor: AF was 40, I believe.
Caster Armor: AF was 20? Cant remember.
Scale Armor: AF was 48.
Leather Armor: AF was 30 or 35.

All armor was magical and had very nice stats, resists, and bonuses that I could remember.

Hope that helps some. :)

Yes, type "/loc" and it will give you x,y,z coordinates. In the case of the previous post, he omitted the z component.
