Still no updates to the Vana'versary thing...

They are actually going to give us the rest of the KIs at some point, right?

Announcing the September Version Update

A fine September to you, adventurers!
Matsui here with the usual version update rundown.

Our September version update will be brought to you on the 11th, a special day for FINAL FANTASY XI.
September is autumn here in Japan, and we’re looking forward to cooler weather ahead.
But things are still hot here in the office as we work feverishly to bring you more content! Let’s break it down piece-by-piece.

The biggest thing on our plate is the next step in the Escutcheon questlines. This fourth installment is a bit of a beast,
but I have confidence that you’ll all be able to tackle this near-impossible to gauge foe and boast of your synthesis prowess to all your companions.

As usual, simmering on the stove are the monthly changes to Ambuscade, which feature wyrms this month. So of course, you’ll need to get out there and start vanquishing...dragons. I leave it up to you to decide which foes to tackle.

In this month’s Intense Ambusacde, we’re increasing monster HP, hallmark rewards, and badges of gallantry rewards at certain difficulty levels.
This is intended to alleviate some of the problems we’ve been seeing with congestion,
as increasing the duration of a given battle should free up a bit of pressure from people knocking on the front door.
The effects of Abdhaljs Seals will also increase—but if you’re like me and tend to take normal Ambuscades slow with a small group of friends,
you shouldn’t notice the changes too much.

And what kind of meal would be complete without a couple side dishes?
We’ve taken a look at the calculations behind receiving high-quality items and adjusted them upwards.
These, coupled with adjustments to the HQ success rate attributes found on certain equipment and foodstuffs,
mean that you should especially notice the changes for items which had a low base chance of becoming high quality.

And for dessert, how about a brand new alter ego? We took a look at some of the entries you submitted for the next NPC you’d like to see as an alter ego,
and we think you’ll be glad when she makes her presence known in September!

For a complete rundown of the September version update, please refer to the tables below.
The standard disclaimer applies: some of these items may not make the September update if last-minute issues arise.

Wait, what!?

Their solution to congestion in Ambuscade, is to make battles take longer so that everybody has to wait longer? lol?

I don't get the mentality.

Well, that includes some sort of increase in points awarded, at least when using seals. Still, Ambuscade has been largely dead on my server recently, as a result of really crappy fights, no new rewards, and other events capturing more attention. So, I haven't seen a lot of congestion issues recently, but maybe I'm just not going at the right times.

It sounds like the seal thing is only for higher difficulties...

If Ambuscade is stagnant, than most of what you'll see are people multiboxing mules, etc, which means Normal or lower.

And yeah, crappy fights.. you got that right. This stupid morbol is just ridiculous, and next month it is wyrms... yay, tail spikes and breath weapons... what better ways to ***** over people who dare use Trusts?
