Just a quick status update on the spam situation. I'm finally first in line for Dev time, and 3 of my 4 pending code modification packages were approved. We will have additional filtering on terms common to the recent spammers. There will be a "send all posts by this user to forum=999 spammer hell" button. The ban threashhold for general admins other than myself will be raised to allow them to ban accounts rather than just muting them after 30 posts until myself or darqflame or a dev can fully ban them. My request to have every ******* IP address in India and packistan null routed to some site about tacos was unfortunatly not approved for work.
I expect to see action on this soon. Then again i've expected this to be fixed for months now and could have done most of it myself if they wanted to give me access to that level of the code. /shrug.
I do get paid, premium does fund some of that, but honestly wiith the level of service against the spammers I am able to provide with the hours i am available i wouldn't pay for premium either. Even if I was here a full 40 hours a week, which would be silly given my other much much higher paying job, I'm still not certain i could keep up with the spammers given the methods and hours they are using. Until we get better tools to counter them, the situation will continue to deteriorate. The spammers are getting better at countering my methods and learning my schedule habits. Is frustrating.
