Functions better than the swear word filter at least.

Sort of impressive that they would work this hard to defeat the spam protection just to be able to post in what's essentially a ghost forum.

Either that or the spam filter isn't so hard to beat.

I'd imagine that ghost forum or not the existence of these threads drum up search engine hits.

What, do you already have a guy for that? I mean, I know a guy to call when I need an oil change, but I don't as of yet have an Indian love specialist on my speed dial.

Most of the time the spam filter (whatever it's doing) stops them before they get to this many posts. The problem here is that I and all the other admins have buttons to ban users, and then move their posts to spammer hell. These buttons stop working when you get above a certain post count, so we don't have the ability to do anything to this guy beyond muting him and nuking posts one at a time. Kao or DF or someone on that level is needed to actually fix this problem.

Ugh. Usually I can clear these up within a few seconds, but this one I had to manually Nuke 45 posts Smiley: mad

Forum will look empty until Kaolian comes in to sweep the nuked posts into the dustbin.

I'm not criticizing anyone's work here, just expressing amusement at how tenacious they are in their desire to spam this particular subforum.

Can you implement CAPTCHA for the first 10 posts on new accounts, and maybe a time limit between posts for those under 50 posts or something?

At this point, it might be easier to just make a Black Magic & Indian Love Specialist forum.

Maybe they'd spam it with video game links.

I suggested an increasing time limit for threads before, nobody needs or wants to make half a dozen threads within an hour or so after all.

The current threshhold might be a bit too low. We'll see about bumping that up some. It really shouldn't even have to be there at all, since anyone we give admin stuffs to is supposed to be a trusted keeper of the integrity of the site. But, there have been some incidents in the past that makes it a necessty. We usually catch the spammers anyways before they hit that many posts. but at the same time they are activly learning our online habits, such as they are. I like to think that my pattern confuses the hell out of them sometimes heh. I know that at least a few of their spambots have been real people, since I've recieved replies to some of the less than civil PM's I have sent them. Which is actually kind of hilariously annoying.

I think this is all about search engine manipulation, and someone who is particularily bad at it. Even in the bad days, we were banning the stupid spammers faster than search engines were spidering the spam, so it never even really gave them any benifit at all. I wouldn't put it past one of our competitors paying someone to come annoy us, but the content of the spam is just too dumb to be something like that. The Kitchen jerks, blahblah vastchicken spammmers, fake ID spammers and "hey watch this movie, no really it's totally not a virus" spammers are all the same people. It's just wierd,
