I'm sorry y'all are upset about it. It's not a matter of want. Kao gave you the answers we have, and I don't have any information you haven't been given. Getting mad at me won't produce anything new.

I'm here gathering bugs and feedback on the new network menu/login bar. Anyone have anything new on that?

Can we at least get something more than "suck it up"? Because that's all we've got and I can't believe that you think all of the filtered words should be filtered.

Well, I could lie to you, or give you false hopes. But I stopped being a tease about 20 years ago.

People are asking for a banned word list which has not been forthcoming, so ..not really.

Nobody here is mad at you. I know inflection of voice and all that is hard to render by text, but hey, really, we're not mad at you.

I just don't care that much on forums about free speech. They get moderated, and depending on who's doing that, shows how extreme it will be. With the ad company they use, apparently very extreme. So I live with it and move on, or I don't and quit subscribing. I applaud your desire for more information, but doubt it will come around. Maybe it's old age, I used to be one to always fight for what was right and just. It's just not worth the aggravation and energy expended any more. Maybe they are just hiding the list, but without them showing it to yet, why expect they'll change their mind from just complaining about it.

Please try to keep this post on topic. If you would like to take up the filter discussion again in a different, new post, you're more than welcome to. This is not the thread for it.

Any more feedback or bug reports on the new menu bar is welcome and appreciated!

No one cares that they're moderating. It had to be done, whatever.

But the ad service used is Google AdSense and, to the best of my knowledge, it holds such a huge share of the ad market that it's essentially a monopoly. It's really hard to believe that Zam had no choice but to censor to THIS degree. Y'know, since the majority of the rest of the Internet is using the exact same service.

If Google stated explicitly that this was the level of censoring needed, tell us that. Because, again, the scope of the censorship is what we care about.

We've also asked for a list of the censored words.

And there's also the problem that the filter is horribly executed from a technical standpoint. It's so bad.

At this point the filter is more of an annoyance than a dealbreaker. I miss the old version, where stuff like "lol dragoon" would be changed to "I'm a moron." Way more fun than just asterisks.

More feedback? I'm getting used to the drop down menu to switch, but I really don't want the switched site to open in another tab. If I wanted to open it in another tab, I'd have a second bookmark. The whole point of in-site navigation is to have it stay in the same browser view. Very irritating.

Yeah, I guess not! Didn't know Kao's stance on it. Revive the original one, then! ;)

edit: However, I don't think you'll get a better answer than what he gave this morning:

Kaolian wrote:
1. No, because they are filtered. The list could probably be e-mailed somewhere, but posted is not happening. If you search for the list you can probably find it online though really easily as has been mentioned several times.

2. Because google already sent us a "we're pulling all of your adsense rights" note once before and we successfully appealed it. The rate of successful appeal seems to be about 1 in every 100 cases. If they decide to pull that ad funding again, we would in all probability lose an appeal. If that funding goes away, the forums go away. Period. So we are not going to lose that funding. Period. If that does not make sense to you, then it just is never going to make sense.

Now let's return to the topic at hand here: the menu bar!

We'll ask about it.

Sorry I got hooked into the side-track. As far as the bar goes. It's not nearly as annoying as it was, and mostly I hope the other concerns will be dealt with in time. Lack of functionality / barren space. Not matching themes. Double Zam icons. A zam menu and and a game/forum menu in a different spot. The last one doesn't bother as much, since I primarily only use the game/forum menu and probably will not use the zam menu except in very rare occasions.

And this thread became relevant to my interests again.

Hello. How you doin'? Smiley: sly

Edit: To stay on topic: Header has gone from being annoying and useless to just useless. An improvement, I suppose.

I've brought this up in the appropriate places. I liked that functionality too.

If you can get that much changed, I'll stop whining about the FF sites getting piled on the bottom. Smiley: nod

Eventhough I don't use it often, I agree. There's a right-click menu to open in new window / tab if you want it that way from the Zam menu. Or maybe all the browsers need to add an Open in this tab option to their right-click menus? which I would only like for those links that force a new tab / window. The better solution is not to force it and allow users to choose it if they want.

I forgot to post, sorry. The menu bar should no longer open new tabs unless you make it, like with CTRL-click.

I've tested it on Chrome 37.0.2062.124 m (latest) and can't reproduce it. Try clearing cache? (I can't imagine why clearing your cache would help, but who knows.)

Hm. Why not make the drop down menu two columns? That would make it short enough that everything would fit on one page without scrolling even at lower resolutions, nothing would be "way down at the bottom" any more, and you wouldn't need that stupid extra click fold out thing in the middle of the list any more.

It's still happening for me.

We ARE talking about the long drop down menu from the header bar itself, right? It's still opening in new tabs for me on Chrome.

Works fine in my Chrome: Version 37.0.2062.124 m

Still opening in new tab in Firefox 32.0.1, but that's probably 'cause I haven't restarted / cleared the cache in several days.

EDIT: Restarted and updated Firefox to 32.0.3 and it no longer opens in tab now also.

Works fine on the latest Chrome. Did you try a cache flush, Cat?

Right, the new network menu on the upper leftmost ZAM. Have you tried the above advice?
