Low level gear rarityFollow

Hello,

I just came back after about a year and half break or so. I was going to level my BLM for a RDM sub. Well I wanted to get a weapon (sometimes I just have to whack the mob to death if I run out of MP), and other gear for past level 10, but it seems I can't really find any gear on the AH. I went to Jeuno, still didn't find anything. Found very few things for my RDM to use at around 30.

So my question is, is the gear for lower levels just becoming obsolete? What gear I did find some of it was a wee over priced. But not to bad. I don't have much money to my name anyways, spent some of it getting my spells on RDM I past up getting to 30 to begin with.

Last time I play it seemed a bit easier to get gear. I had my Beetle gear, and so forth. So what happened to all the lower level gear? Easy way to obtain any lower level gear without breaking what little piggy bank I have left? Does SE plan to address any of this? I saw the AHs being combined, but still very few options even on the AHs for gear.

Is it just Lakshmi or are other servers suffering the same fate?

Thanks

All servers are suffering. Low level gear isn't really that necessary anymore past 30 for any subjob leveling due to abyessa few good hours and sub will be done.

I see, well do to my odd play schedule I doubt I do much Abyssea. I'm not here to go through levels like butter on a hot cake either. I actually like the journey, not to worried about reaching my destination anytime soon. It took me 3 or so years the first time around to even get to 75. So in no hurry this time around. But seeing as how gear is scarce I do hope SE implements something for the people that don't care to blow past all the levels. I don't care about endgame, I find it rather boring to be honest.

I've read what Abyssea is like, although nice for those that are only worried about hitting endgame. I just don't care for it.

That still doesn't do much for the getting gear and leveling to 75, 80, whatever the level cap is now. I mean I guess I could just get gear and hope that I can get an upgrade. Seriously, it's nice that SE is adding all this stuff to help people level faster and all that, but I would worry about the low-level population too. If they can't get gear and so forth, then why stay?

Oh well, maybe it will all get worked out.

I thank you for your help, I appreciate it. I just don't see myself doing Abyssea. Best I can manage most the time is a couple hours play time, I do some FoV and xp off some mobs for a bit and that's it. And with the FoV changes coming this will get me some nice xp in itself. I won't have to worry about grouping then leaving or something come up. I prefer this right now till I can get a set schedule.

Like I said, thank you for the help, advice. I'll wait and see if SE addresses this. Doubtful, knowing SE it will take them a couple years to get around to it.

Meant to add earlier, but got side tracked pricing Bazaar in FFXIV. Anyways, I can understand not needing gear past 30 for those that do Abyssea. But will need gear to level up to get to 30, and right now their is a shortage on gear, weapons, not to sure about spells, as I'm using mine from RDM for BLM. So, again, I re-iterate SE needs to do something about this. I don't care what. But knowing SE, they will add a NPC with the gear needed, but make it cost an outrageous amount of money. That would be something SE would do, haha.

Most sub-30 gear, aside from the spiffier stuff like Astral Rings, probably needs to be gotten from NPCs now. Hell, even for higher levels, most of the ideal gear can't be gotten off AH either.

Nobody bothers seriously gearing for 30-74 anymore because of Abyssea. SE is going to increase EXP outside of Abyssea somehow along with removing restrictions on FoV, but still isn't going to come anywhere close to what you can get in Abyssea.

I imagine that after the patch, most people that want to level jobs to 30 with minimal effort will be doing it by leeching high level FoVs off friends.

Abyssea hasn't gotten me into endgame; it is its own endgame, and it's doable without needing massive amounts of people. I'm pretty much the opposite of hardcore endgamer, and I can still find Abyssea enjoyable.

I'll take a look at the NPC's and see what they have I can use. I'm guessing the NPC's are spread out over the 3 nations, or would they perhaps be the same in all nations (I've never really bought gear from the NPC's, so unsure. I guess I can look it up, but the one thing I looked up and went to buy wasn't there.) Wish SE would implement Gear rewards from the FoV, that would be a nice way to gear up as you level.

I may try Abyssea once I get my schedule regulated. Although looking forward to the Exp boost on mobs and the FoV boost. But I may try Abyssea yet. I have the Visions Of Abyssea, got it with the Ultimate Collectors from D2D.

I'll see what I can do, I think have to have a job at 30 to enter them anyways if I am correct, thought I read that somewhere.

I'm guessing Crystals still sell well for gil? I know they used to anyways.

Anyways, thanks for the help all.

Talk to Joachim asap and get your first traverser stone so that he'll start making more for you. Better to do this now and have a small stockpile of stones to use for Abyssea later

You need to be 30 or higher on your current job to enter Abyssea, yes. I don't think 30 is required to pick up your first traverser stone, though

They used to.. only about 1k to 3k per stack.

I miss those 2003 prices too.

Matter of perspective. Back in my noob days, 2-4k for a stack of Vulture crystals (yes, Vulture crystals, not fire crystals) was big bucks. Nowadays, that wouldn't even be worth eating up one of my AH slots :/

Alright will look that NPC up and start stock piling my travelers stones. I had my RDM to 30, but de-leveled doing Dancer quest. Those Ladybugs pack a punch. Shouldn't take log to get back up to level though.

Right now Crystal's are the best I can do for gil, I have quiet a bit of them, seeing as how I stock pile those for some unknown reason to me.

Thanks again for all the help, greatly appreciated.

If you have a bunch of crystals and are working on leveling low level jobs, you should check out crafting to make your own leveling gear. If you are that concerned of it. Another viable option is nation gear, I don't know what kind of mission access you have but some of the nation gear sets are fairly decent for their levels.

But those aside I would just check NPC's and the AH from time to time. Really you can solo to 30-40 are without worrying about the super gear for the levels. Heck most people didn't have super gear for low levels until they took their 3rd or 4th jobs up to 37, because they couldn't afford the Astrals and such the first couple times around =).

Thank you, I will see about crafting some. I may just push forward after getting my BLM up to par for my RDM. See how well that goes. I have some gear so I think I can get to 40 no problem. Will pick up what I can from time to time. Right now I am trying to get my money back up to get the rest of my spell. I passed up quiet a bit of them getting to 30. Mainly my Bar spells and my En spells, couple nukes here and there. But shouldn't take me to long to get them all picked up.

Thanks again all.

I know how hard getting lowbie gear can be...having to help my wife get new gear on our second account is a pain >.>

Some mobs drop low level gear...but by the time you can beat them for it, it's obsolete. Treasure chests can drop some rarer items, though (such as casaba melon tank, a rare/ex drop that adds +hMP and dispenses 20 melon juices to boot).

If you're doing a mage job, you can level clothcraft to get some gear for the job, although sooner or later that requires leveling goldsmithing and leathercraft to some degree.

If there's anything else to add, my sleep-deprived mind can't come up with it right now.
