I watched the Poltergeist movie as a kid, and don't think I've sat through it since. I'm sure this one will get the usual remake treatment. I'll probably watch it when it comes out on the premium channels.

Sam Raimi directing Sam Rockwell & Jared Harris in a remake of Poltergeist doesn't sound bad.

On paper.

When I first saw the trailers I thought, "Great, they are going to go all Paranormal Activity on this". Then I started thinking about it, and the parts of it that reminded me of Paranormal Activity, really are similar to what Poltergeist was originally. I'm thinking it will be done well, but not sure I'd go see it in the theaters.

That toy clown was goddamn nightmare fuel first time 'round. Too bad, kind of premature to put what is probably the scariest thing the movie has to offer right into the trailer. Shame they can't bring in Tangina.

Looks like the same treatment as Evil Dead got a while ago. Completely different people and circumstances, but the same general outline and modernized to take advantage of a larger budget and advances in technology. I liked the Evil Dead remake, and generally trust Sam Raimi, so on paper I can't see me not enjoying this. I do want to see where he sticks that 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

I mean, not for $10 at a theater yet, but I'd certainly seek it out on Netflix or tv.
