My twitter feed seems to be filled with discussion of another new Ghostbusters movie. This one has Channing Tatum attached and is also rumored to have Chris Pratt involved. Huh.

I like both actors. So this already interests me more than the other one.

If I'm being honest, it's the same for me. Some people, however, are losing their minds over this.

It's supposedly going to follow the Marvel example with the whole shared universe thing, and lead to television and toys and such. The flagships are an all female and an all male cast movies, one with Channing and the other with Melissa McCarthy. The newer comics from IDW have been pretty good reads, for what it's worth.

I'm holding my opinion until Bill Murray's involvement has been confirmed.

Why is everyone trying to do this now? It makes sense for DC (although, in my opinion, they already botched it with their separation of the TV shows and not all of the upcoming movies belonging to their Dawn of Justice thingy) but a Ghostbusters universe? Seriously? Maybe it's because I only mildly enjoyed the old movies and I'm not a huge fan, but it seems completely unnecessary to me.

Remember they had the original "Real Ghostbusters" cartoon series, then the 90's sequel where Egon was training a bunch of teen stereotypes as the next-gen Ghostbusters. I can see it happening in the movie-verse.

If Hollywood is going to trot out a reboots every 10-20 years until the end of time, they really missed the boat on Ghostbusters: 2000 starring Jim Belushi, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Keanu Reeves.

Because this, like the "four movie trilogy," made someone a lot of money.
