Dialog from quest:
Talk to Molteyr at loc=45153,19127,11710 dir=302 Veil Rift

Molteyr says, "What brings you to The Veil, Celt? The prospect of new treasure or new lands to explore, or is it maybe a little bit of both? Of course, you have also come to aid us in this terrible war being waged in the [Otherworld], I presume."

Molteyr says, "Yes, such a dreadful war it is. The forces are holding the evil army at bay, so your help is not needed right now on the war front. No, indeed it is not. As a matter of fact you can notify your leaders of this and make your way back into Hibernia. We really have no need of help from the Hibernian Forces. We are doing just fine without your kind...well...there is a minor problem that I...ummm... we, the loyal and devout supporters of the Shar Queen, could use your [assistance] with."

Molteyr sighs as though in boredom.

Molteyr says, "Some scaanagh have moved into an area of extreme importance to us and we need someone to slay these creatures. Are you that person? Can you provide a small [service] to your realm? It is but a small favor to ask."
Molteyr distractedly picks at some lint on his cloak.

Molteyr throws a glance your way which resembles a look a cat would give a mouse.

Will you aid Molteyr? [Level 5]
You have been given the The Deceiver quest.

[Step #1] Speak with Molteyr about the dark elves.

Molteyr says, "We could use a brave Celt like you to fix this dreadful problem. The terrible circumstance surrounding this problem involves a certain Dark Elf...you do know what the [Dark Elves] are don't you?"
Molteyr looks at you impatiently.

Molteyr says, "Very well then, Celt, I shall tell you the story of how the Dark Elves came to be. I suppose it starts with...once upon a time...there lived this and that...so on and so forth...To get to the point, the original Elves, my ever so noble ancestors, decided to separate the world of magic from the natural world. In doing this they decided to bring their favored castle, Marrach Briollag, into the Otherworld through the [Veil] with them."
Molteyr sighs exasperatedly.

Molteyr says, "Marrach Briollag was built of stone and wood, but Elven magic was used throughout the building. The castle also had inhabitants. The Elves and Lurikeens of old decided to pull this magnificent structure and all of its inhabitants through the Veil into the Otherworld. But my ever so noble ancestors the Elves had underestimated the hold that Hibernia had on the castle. The hold of Hibernia was resisting the magical pull of the Elves. The [natural] world was attempting to ensnare Marrach Briollag."

Molteyr says, "The elves managed to pull the castle into the Veil, but with the natural world's hold, it became ensnared. The castle and all of its inhabitants, including the castle's Prince Yraellyn, became trapped. No hold of Hibernia or amount of Elven or Lurikeen magic could move the castle. They were trapped in a terrible limbo. They could never enter Hibernia and were [barred] from entering the Otherworld."

Molteyr says, "Marrach Briollag and its residents were completely forgotten up until the reopening of the Veil. It has recently been discovered that there are still inhabitants of this castle, and they my friend, are the Dark Elves. The Elves, being quite ashamed of their failure shunned the Dark Elves, the creation of their [carelessness]."

Molteyr says, "The Elves, despite trying to forget the error of their ways, rediscovered the Dark Elves when the Shar opened the Veil to the residents of Hibernia. In this time they came across Prince Yraellyn. See, he had a long time to think about the carelessness of the Elves, and over time, he and the other Dark Elves came to hate the Elves. Really, one cannot know if these creatures' hate stemmed from their being [forgotten] or from being warped by the magic of the Veil."

Molteyr says, "Prince Yraellyn started launching attacks on trespassers of the Veil. The Elves, realizing this was a result of their foolish mistake caught the prince, and instead of destroying him they put him in a suspended [existence] inside a shield of powerful Elven magic."

Molteyr says, "They are holding him until they can discover some sort of solution to atone for their grievous error committed indirectly on their own kind. He is held not far from here, and this is why I need you my [brave] friend!"

Molteyr says, "Only someone of your noble stature can venture in and deal with this problem! Some spellbound scaanagh have moved into Prince Yraellyn's Barrier of Restraining. They are reflections of all who pass through the Veil, and are drawn to this shield of Elven magic. They are created from the Veil. When the Veil tries to close itself, it fractures and creates ethereal shards which possess the will of the elves, the evil of the shar, and the [magic] of the veil."

Molteyr flashes you a toothy smile.
Molteyr says, "The spellbound scaanagh are attracted to this shield as moths to a flame, and they indirectly feed off of its magic. Due to this, the shield is weakening. It is up to you to go slay these Veil creatures and reinforce the shield. Our forces are depending on someone like you to aid us in this time of [need]."

Molteyr yawns and picks at his nails distractedly.
Molteyr says, "Travel to the west southwest past two bridges search to the south southwest and slay the spellbound scaanagh. After that use this enchanted scroll and speak the incantation on the scroll. You must be inside Prince Yraellyn's Barrier of Restraining when speaking the script. You will know once the barrier is [reinforced]."

Molteyr says, "And that would be the end, my friend. See, not much at all. Slay the scaanagh, speak the incantation, reinforce the barrier, and receive a reward. We all win. Speaking of reward, you will need to visit Guardian Kaatal in the large cavern in the Veil Rift when you complete this [chore]. Just keep following the path to find him."

Molteyr grins almost malevolently at you.
Molteyr says, "He will provide you with ample recompense for your reward. My, my, how you will impress everyone! Young and old alike will hear of you and tell tales of this act! Well now, do not tarry any longer, Celt. Be off on your journey to provide a great service for your realm. We all thank you!"

Molteyr's appearance seems to change before your eyes but as quickly as it changes it returns to normal.

You receive the Scroll of Molteyrys from Molteyr!

[Step #2] Travel to west southwest of Molteyr to find Prince Yraellyn and slay the spellbound scaanagh. They can be found on the Veil land past two bridges to the south southwest.
  • Travel to loc=32122,25844,10029 dir=144 Veil Rift, there you will find Prince Yraellyn in his Barrier of Restraining and 3 Spellbound Scaanagh. Kill all 3 Spellbound Scaanagh, they were a gray con to a level 7, for your journal to advance.

  • [Step #3] Use the Scroll of Molteyrys to disclose the incantation to reinforce Prince Yraellyn's barrier. (To use an item right click on the item and type /use).
The script on the scroll reveals the phrase: Teasairg Yraellyn. Speak this phrase once you enter the Barrier of Restraining
  • Step into the barrier where Prince Yraellyn is at and type /say Teasairg Yraellyn. When you do this the barrier will fall, a Veil Shard will appear in your inventory and Prince Yraellyn will vanish.

  • [Step #4] Seek out Guardian Kaatal in the large cavern in the Veil Rift. He can be found at the top of the ramp. Search to the northwest of the Barrier of Restraining and follow the path until you reach the cavern.
  • Guardian Kaatal can be found at loc=24091,25101,13093 dir=199 Veil Rift.

  • Guardian Kaatal says, "What is it, Celt?"

[Step #4] Tell Guardian Kaatal that [Molteyr sent] you.

Guardian Kaatal says, "Molteyr, eh? Can't say I have ever heard of him. I know no one of that name. What's your business here?"

[Step #4] Give Guardian Kaatal the Scroll of Molteyrys.

Guardian Kaatal says, "Who gave you this scroll with this magical script upon it? Answer me Celt, speak up! Was it this Molteyr character that you [mentioned]? Looks to be like mischief of the Unseelie."

[Step #4] Continue speaking with Guardian Kaatal.

Guardian Kaatal says, "Aye, tis no one I know, but I do know that you have been deceived. Did you speak this incantation near Prince Yraellyn's Barrier of Restraining? Tell me please. We haven't much time to fix what I think you broke. Did the barrier of [Prince Yraellyn drop]?"

Guardian Kaatal says, "Oh you have committed a most grievous act! Foolish, Hero! You just freed Prince Yraellyn and now he will make life within the Veil most dangerous for us all. I must pass this information onto my superiors! Tell me, did anything good come of this act? Please, I must believe that you are not completely fool hearted."

[Step #4] Give Guardian Kaatal the Veil Shard.

Guardian Kaatal says, "Well, at least you committed some good while on your little journey. I do believe that you were deceived, and I feel for you. For that, I will not let on as to how this happened to my superiors. It is also my duty to provide you [bounty] for that ethereal veil shard."

[Step #4] Continue speaking with Guardian Kaatal to receive your reward. If he stops speaking with you tell him to provide you your [bounty].

Guardian Kaatal says, "Here you go take this cloak for the bit of good you did perform. I must leave here at once to inform my superiors of what happened. Safe passages to you, Hero and steer clear of Prince Yraellyn's grasp."
