Evenings Empty Blessing

DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Note: All classes can do this quest, but the reward will be studded leggings, no matter what your class is. The quest begins in Mularn after level 15. You talk to the Aegan, the guy next to the wagon in Mularn. He asks you to take a Bear Mask to Kell in Fort Veldon. Kell is the weapon merchant in the building on the east side of the village. He tells you to talk to Sydney inside the guard tower near the fort. She asks you to bring anything to tell who the Vendo are. Go to the lake vendo camp and kill vendo there until you get a bear skin or bone. Best bet is to kill Vendo Scout Prugor. Return to Sydney and she sends you to Huginfell to Virge if you got the bearskin, or to Daga in Vasudheim if you got the bone. Virge or Daga translates the item and sends you back to Fort Veldon. After talking to Sydney, find and destroy the vendo leader Rathis (he is in the hunter party that wanders the valley). Rathis coned green to an 18. He is hardly ever alone. Aegan says, "You have learned much since I spoke to you last." Aegan says, "It seems there is much amiss to the north around Fort Veldon. Kell sent word earlier that he required [information and assistance]." Aegan says, "I have done what I can from here, would you care to further [help my friend]?" Aegan says, "Take this with you and seek out Kell in Fort Veldon. You must hurry!" You have been given the Evenings Empty Blessing quest. You receive a bear mask from Aegan! [Step #2] Speak to Kell; learn of what is happening at Fort Veldon. You hand Kell the bear mask. (In case Kell doesn't respond, /say Sydney) Kell says, "I see you have spoken to Aegan. I'm glad you have come, we are having some [terrible upsets] here lately." Kell says, "Each evening, as dark appraoches, you can see a clan of what seems to be walking bears [coming from the hills] and laying waste to the area." Kell says, "They [scare and steal] any livestock our past dark as well as many of our goods. We can 't seem to get anyone to trade with us or to stay in the area for long." Kell says, "Perhaps [Sydney] can tell you more." Kell says, "Sydney can be found in guard tower up on the hill. You should hurry." [Step #3] Speak to Sydney for more information on the situation here. Sydney says, "There have been many rumors throughout my lifetime [about bears] threatening our homelands. I never thought I would see it with my own eyes." Sydney says, "They are clans of bear-men, known as the vendo. They [come from the hills] with little else in mind but terrorizing innocents. Be wary, and keep a good lookout." Sydney says, "I have watched as night falls how the hills to the west come alive with motion. Please make haste and be careful. There are many different ones out there, but thou must seek [a specific one]." Sydney says, "Seek out the Vendo Bone-Collectors in the surrounding hills. Bring back to me anything you may be able to obtain from them." [Step #4] Search for those known as the Vendo Bone-Collector in the surrounding hills. Bring back whatever you can. Kill Vendos, get a ragged bear skin or bone. [Step #5] Return the ragges bear skin to Sydney in Fort Veldon. You hand Sydney the ragged bear skin. Sydney says, "Hmm, it appears there is writing upon these skins. However I cannot [translate what it says]." Sydney says, "I only know of one person who could translate such runes. I, however, don?t know where to [find Virge]." Sydney says, "Please find Virge and have him translate. He is the only one who can help solve this riddle now." You receive a ragged bear skin from Sydney! [Step #6] Find Virge and see if he can translate the runes upon the Bear Skin. You give Virge the ragged bear skin. Virge says, "Well hello stranger. What is this you give me?" Virge says, "You have gotten this from a fabled vendo! I have nothing like this in my lifetime. Tis quite amazing I tell you. May I [keep this]?" Virge says, "I shall try and translate these runes the best I can and send you back with it." Virge scribbles down text quickly and give it to you. You receive the vendo rune translations from Virge! [Step #7] Return to Sydney with the translation. Sydney says, "You have returned! I feel you are just in time, the evening comes quickly." Sydney says, "All it says is [Rathis]..." Sydney says, "Rathis must be important. Possible a leader. That should be our target." [Step #8] It is time to seek out the Vendo captain known as Rathis! Rathis says, "You have defeated me, but you shall never defeat the vendo!" Rathis says, "Do not think you have won!" You receive Berbenet Leggings from Rathis! You are awarded experience! You have finished the Evenings Empty Blessing quest. Reward: |

Ok.. just to make it easy, Rathis is in the camp located at 25000 23270. Might have to kill some to get him to spawn.
Found a number of Vendo Stalkers in the Vendo Camp along the lake just southest of Svasud Faste at loc #23996, 22441. First one killed dropped the ragged bear skin needed to give to Sydney.

I was given the hollowed bone back from Sydney and she wants me to take it to Daga. Does anyone know where Daga can be found?
btw, I tried to give her a Vendo Bone Ring, +3 strength, and she didn't want it. I got the ring from a bone-collector before she asked me to kill a vendo bone-collector. Next one I killed autodropped the hollowed bone.

rathis will sometimes roam around in a group near wolves i just stalked them until they hunted a rabid wolf then i ambushed them and kill all will 90% hiy points at level 15 i used my zerker ability though

I started this quest @ level 15 and couldn't kill Rathis. I went back @ level 18 and attacked him first, then after he died, I killed his "Vendo Mafia." After that I didn't get ANYTHING. I had to find him again, kill his Mafia FIRST, then kill Rathis. Then I got the leggings. They are still yellow @ level 18.

Quest is pretty easy for me and the reward is awesome (first quested leggings I've got so far). I was level 16 but I am pretty sure you can do it the same way at level 15. Because I had been fighting arcanchites (purple spider looking monsters) in Myrkwood past Gna Faste. Location 7840, 14450. After killing the arcanchites for a while my vendo faction was neutral and I went back to Fort Veldon.
I followed Rathis around for a while and since no Vendos aggro'ed on me, I just watched his patterns. For me, he never swim in the lake like someone said so I instead attacked only Rathis while his bodyguards were fighting a wolf and killed him before the bodyguards finished and they didn't even attack me. Not sure if they would aggro on me since I am neutral anyways...

hi,
i made the quest, got the bearskin and went to the girly at the tower. i gave her the skin but i could not klick the white types and then the bearskin disappears.
so, now i dont have the skin to give it to virge and the story at my questbook is always at ... Bearskin??
is there anybody who has the same probem with this quest and is there a way to get this to an end?

I was required to kill a vendo stalker. There are 2 in the patrol, but not wanting to try that, I looked around some more. Going over a mountain a bit to the south of the rabid wolves area is another vendo camp that has vendo stalkers that could be pulled solo. I killed one and got what I needed. Maybe this will help.

in the german version of DAoC there is a bad bad bad BUG
the white linking words of some Quest dont work ... they are written in german but you have to say exactly what is written in the english version and HOW should one know what was written there once in english ...

when you talk to kell again the bearhide disappears but the quest log stays the same. is it possible to finish this quest?

OK I may have found the secret to killing Rathis. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test it out cause they decided to patch just when I did. For the second day in a row...grrrrr.
If you follow Rathis through the Rabid Wolf valley you'll see he comes to a village of Vendo's near a lake. When he does he decides it might be a nice time for a swim...alone.
He doesn't head out too far on the lake, and immediatly turns around and heads back when he gets to his farthest point and the first time (and so far only time) I tried to cut his wittle head off his buddies ran out from the shore and saved him. However even if that ultimately happens everytime you may be able to kill him by immediately running from Haggerfal (or whatever its called ) (make sure your bound there) and catching him on the way back from the Valley of the Rabids when he's still pretty wounded. Of course you'll probably die twice but to me it's worth it.
Still I haven't had a chance to try the first method (killing him when he's out on the lake) more than once so I kinda think that might do the trick. It may be just a question of getting him as he's at exactly the farthest point from the shore ( remember he turns around immediately).
Oh and you can even mess around and kill the Vendo's in the village while you wait for him to show up cause as soon as you see his scout, Prugor you know Rathis and crew is about 2 minutes away giving you plenty of time to rest up and be ready for him.

Well thats an interesting way to do it but there is an even easier, safer way. K you follow bera-boy and his bodyguards to that valley with the rabid wolves a wolf attack the little party. while they are fighting just pick off the leader guy. I did without even knowing he was part of a quest.

One of my Guildmembers needs help.
We are playing on a the german server and the translation of the game is horrible.
One keyword of this quest istn translatet and he cant click it on.
It maybe will help if he types in the correct keyword in english but what is it??
It is the one with "in order to translate, which there is" (sorry its from Babelfish :) )

Same Problem ... It's the first keywords in Brackets Sydney says after you give her the Bearskin. Has to be something like [can not decipher the writings].
Please help us, there are a lot op People who can't finish this Quest in the European Version.

After being told to kill a vendo bone collector and returning the "hollowed out bone" to Sydney, the prompts she gave me were
"pattern of runes"
and
"Daga"

I just killed rathis when him and the other 3 conned green, however nothing changed in my quest book and sydney wouldnt talk to me, is rathis supposed to drop an item or something?

i got the quest got the bear mask to give to kell in fort veldon gave the mask to kell befor i could finish talking to him i went link dead loged back in to talk to him now he wont talk to me my journal still says im on step 2 but now i have no mask to give him what do i do ? please help

i am doing the quest and i got a bear skin went to virge in hungin and gave to him. i tried to talk to him but the words in [fdsgfvsa] that are white would not click, er did not make more convo. know what i mean?

If that happens again.. Logging out can make the white text clicky on things work again. But if you have the NPC selected and type
/say whatever was in the white letters
it will work even if it's not responding to the clicking on of the aformentioned words

Finally got this one the fourth try...
That time around, all four conned green to my L17-
Prev times some were grey and blue
The problem is, there are two healer mobs in the group, and both spam stun. Is it just me for does mob stunning work a lot better than mine does?
When I stun a mob, he still gets attacks. When I'm stunned, I stand there.
Also, one bit of critisism, seems like even when you resist a spell, your combat timer still resets- thus ruining your movement spell, sprinting, etc. Should you really be punished for resisting?
Anyhow, won this by doing an area effect stun, on all four, while they were fighting a wolfy. Charged Rathis and got him and another before the other two jumped in. They managed to get me, but I finished the quest. Bleah, cheating mobs.

Hmm, I think there's a stun/mesmerize spell, which only steals your movement and besides a paralyze spell which does what its name says. ; )

Anyone know if a Shadowblade can turn these back in to someone to recieve a different reward? I was hoping that since I got the quest I would maybe recieve a different item, but nope. I got the studded legs that are really nice but I have no use for.
