Quest Dialog:
Speak with Taskmaster Traint, near the bind stone in Cotswold, loc=11527,28420,2280 dir=5 Camelot Hills.

Taskmaster Traint says, "I'm sure you're already aware that the guards protecting our towns often pay bounties to young adventurers willing to help them deal with threats in the area. We've decided to expand upon this idea and begin what we call the Taskmaster program. Volunteers such as myself have been authorized to reward those willing to confront the dangers lurking within our dungeons. If you would like to assist, I can give you such an [assignment] right now, and you will be rewarded as soon as you complete it."

Taskmaster Traint says, "I hear that you have just received a magic item. This item is now in your inventory. On the control bar, left click on the second circle for your inventory panel. It is the one with the symbol of a pack. Once you have the inventory open, [click here to continue]. If you are already familiar with how to manage your inventory, equip your character and delve items then you may click on the word [cancel] now to close this dialogue."

Taskmaster Traint says, "I guess we can get [right down] to business then."

The Taskmaster will now show you how kill tasks work. He will also guide you through your first combat situation. [Level 1]
You have been given the The Task at Hand quest.

[Step #1] Continue your lesson from Taskmaster Traint. He can be found near the bind stone in Cotswold, not far from the Camelot Bridge.

Taskmaster Traint says, "I have been instructed to give you some information regarding kill tasks. I myself, and other Taskmasters like me, offer instanced kill tasks. There are several dungeons throughout the realm which have recently been discovered. It is my job to recruit adventurers like you to keep these dungeons clear of any creatures who might venture [into our towns]."

Taskmaster Traint says, "These dungeons are what I will refer to as ''instanced.'' What this means is that when you or your group zone into this dungeon, the game will create a customized zone that is just for you. There will be a set goal for these dungeon tasks such as clearing it of all creatures or defeating a named creature who [controls the dungeon]."

Taskmaster Traint says, "The creatures you defeat will drop coins when they are killed and will also give you bonus experience for fighting in these instanced zones. I offer the opportunity to fight in two different types of dungeons. The first type, labyrinthine dungeons, can be more difficult for spell caster or archer classes since they may not have much room to attack from a distance. I also offer combat opportunities in dungeons with long corridors, which should provide a better chance for ranged attack classes to be [successful]."

Taskmaster Traint says, "I think you are ready to take your first step into the dungeon. There is great risk involved in any fight so I suggest you bind here now in case the battle does not go your way. When your character dies in the game you must either be resurrected by another player who has that ability, such as a Cleric or a Friar, or you must use the /release command which will return you to your last bind point. You can reset this bind point by using the /bind command while near a [bind stone] such as the one behind me now."

Taskmaster Traint says, "When you release after dying, your character will have a negative effect called resurrection illness. This will last 5 minutes and make your character about half as effective in combat for that time. You can remove this effect by visiting a healer NPC in [most towns]"

Try to bind now. Type /bind and hit enter. You should see blue rings. You can also use the BIND button from your command window.
Last Bind Point: Cotswold Village in Camelot Hills.
You are now bound to this location.

Taskmaster Traint says, "When you are level 6 or higher, you will lose some experience, or exp, when your character dies. Half of the lost exp will be gone and the other half will be stored in a gravestone at the site of your character's last death. You can return to the location of your last character death and use the /pray command to restore this portion of your exp [from the tombstone]."

Taskmaster Traint says, "I am ready to send you to the dungeon now. Listen carefully. If you want to hear the lesson I just gave you again, you can right click on me to start over. If you are ready to proceed then tell me by typing the word READY while you have me targeted."

You say, "ready"

Taskmaster Traint says, "Based on your prowess and preference in engaging the enemy, I have assignments located in [labyrinthine dungeons] for close quarter melee and tasks awaiting in [long corridors] for those who prefer ranged attacks. Select which you would prefer and I shall assign a task for you to complete or if you wish I can go into more detail about the Taskmaster [program]."

[Step #2] Tell Traint that you wish to try the [labyrinthine dungeons] or [long corridors] of an instanced dungeon. When you get a task you can type /task to reveiw. This dungeon is south-southeast of Traint, up the hill past Magus Aelle.
(Instanced Dungeon is at loc=13818,33896,2935 dir=331 Camelot Hills.)

Click on the words labyrinthine dungeons or long corridors to choose your first instanced task.

Taskmaster Traint says, "Very well (Your Name), it's good to see adventurers willing to help out the realm in such times. Kill 6 corrupted tree spirits in the caves to the southeast. Good luck!"

[Task] You have been asked to kill 6 corrupted tree spirits in the nearby caves. (Note: Tasks given will vary from what is posted here.)

You have entered the Burial Tomb.
Current area is adjusted for one level 1 player.
Current area has a 50% instanced bonus.
You have found your way into the instanced dungeon. Your Journal has updated. Check it now by using the JOURNAL command.

[Step #3] You will now learn about combat. Right click on your New Recruit Journal in your inventory and then type /use to read more.

You use the New Recruit Journal.
The New Recruit Journal reads, "On your hotbar you should have an icon of a yellow hand holding a sword. This is your attack icon. You also have an ATTACK button in your command box. Try to use both of these a few times. You will see that this toggles you in an out of attack mode. If you don't have a weapon readied then open your inventory, right click on a weapon and drop it on the image of your character."

Try to use your attack icon on your hotbar and the ATTACK button in your command box. Your journal has updated.

[Step #4] Right click on your New Recruit Journal and type /use to learn about combat styles.

You use the New Recruit Journal.
The New Recruit Journal reads, "To increase your effectiveness in combat, you can use spells or styles depending on your class. To view your current styles, select your combat panel from the control bar. This is the circle with the sword icon. If your character has styles, they will be listed there. Your styles should also be added to your hotbar. Some styles are weapon specificl for example a crushing style will not work if you are using a thrusting weapon.

Styles can be used during combat. They cost endurance to use. See the green bar in your target window. Your journal has advanced.

[Step #5] Right click on your New Recruit Journal and type /use to learn about spells.

You use the New Recruit Journal.
The New Recruit Journal reads, "Spells can be used to increase your characters abilities or to attack a monster in combat. If you have spells they should be added to your hotbar. The green icon spells are beneficial or buff spells. You can cast these by targeting yourself and then clicking the icons. One example is a shield spell which will increase your Armor Factor. Damage spells have a red icon. You use these by targeting a monster and then clicking the icons. To view your spells you can click on the magic panel on the control bar. It has an dark and light icon with two dots."

Spells can be used before or durning combat. They cost power to use. See the yellow bar in your target window. Your journal has advanced. Don't use a spell on a monster yet!

[Step #6] You are almost ready to begin fighting monsters. USE your New Recruit Journal again by right clicking it and typing /use.

You use the New Recruit Journal.
The New Recruit Journal reads, "To begin combat you must aggro or pull a monster. Aggro means to get close enough to an aggressive monster so that it will attack you. Pulling is when you use a ranged attack or a spell to cause a monster to attack you. If you just run ahead into a pile of monsters then you will get two or more at once and you will probably lose the fight. Monsters can interrupt ranged attacks so once they are next to you, be sure to use your attack command. You are ready to begin fighting now. Good luck."

[Step #7] Fight monsters in the instanced dungeon. If you die you can get another task from the Taskmaster. If you want to skip the fight for now you can tell Traint that you are [done].

You say, "done"

[Step #8] You have defeated a monster! You can return to Taskmaster Traint now or you can finish your current dungeon task. Type /task or look in your journal to see the task status.

Taskmaster Traint says, "From levels 2 to 20 you can get various missions from named guards in towns. Cemmeth Bugwold by the bridge to Camelot and Sir Dorian at the tower by Master Frederick are two such guards who may offer these kill tasks. You can also get delivery tasks from other named NPCs in town. The way to get both types of tasks is to /say task while you have the NPC [targeted]."

Taskmaster Traint says, "You can see these pending tasks at the top of your journal. You can't have an outdoor task and an instanced task at the same time. These tasks will expire after 2 hours of play time if you fail to complete them. The instanced dungeon tasks [expire] when your character zones out of the instance. Both types will also clear if your character dies."

Taskmaster Traint says, "You have done well in your lessons. I think you should head back to Master Frederick to let him know how you are progressing. Remember, he is near the tower to the east."

[Step #9] Return to Master Frederick. When he asks you a question, tell him you have [learned much] about combat and your character.

Master Frederick says, "Ah, welcome back recruit (Your Name). You've been gone a while. Are things All right?"

You say, "learned much"

Master Frederick says, "I'm glad to see that you are ready to help defend the realm. For your hard work towards this goal I have this [reward] for you."

Master Frederick says, "You have shown that you are all that a recruit can hope to be. This token of my esteem and gratitude is but a fraction of the gratitude Albion will show you once you are a mighty warrior. Do not go far my young friend. I have more for you to do."

You receive the Recruit's Silver Bracer from Master Frederick!
You are awarded 20 experience!
You are awarded 2 silver!
