DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different 04.06.05 Per Patch 1.75: - Mucking through the Ick - The Ick spider has been hunted to extinction in Gotar. You can now find Ick in East Svealand near Audliten. The following dialogue is just one scenario, see steps for more information. You have the possibility to get any version. Barkeep Nognar says, Yver was recently hurt and needs someone to help him with some tasks. You should seek him out in Haggerfel and offer your services. Then talk to an Npc called Yver Tiu, near the entrance of the city, turn right as soon as you enter, he is right there. He is studying spiders. Your quest will differ depending on your class. Yver Tiu says, "Ah, you have never heard of us? We are rather small, I admit, but our work is very serious, I assure you! In fact, I am in the process of studying a specific spider as we speak! Have you ever heard of the [Ickerius] spider?" Yver Tiu says, "The Ickerius arachnid, also known as the Ick spider, is a small tree spider, roughly three feet in length with a yellow tinge to it's body. Truly a marvelous creature, one we're lucky to have found. It's [silk] is used to make some of our fishing nets." Yver Tiu says, "Some of the strongest silk comes from the Ick spider. Amazing, really, that such a small creature can produce something of such quality and strength. I was wondering, since you are here, would you care to run an errand for me?" Dialog box... You have been given the Mucking through the Ick quest. You are awarded 5 silver and some copper! Yver Tiu says, "Ah so kind of you. I was bitten the other day by a female juvenile red-back, and while I was able to treat myself with an antivenom I made, I'm not still feeling all that well. Could you run to Audliten and retrieve the silk for me from [Garon]?" You receive a note to Garon from Yver Tiu! [Step #1] Travel to Audliten in East Svealand and speak with Garon. He has the silk for Yver. Give him the note when he asks. Garon says, "Greetings friend! Welcome to Audliten, though you seem to be a more seasoned traveler, I'm sure no introduction is needed for our fair town. What brings you to Audliten today?" You hand Garon the note from Yver Tiu. Garon reads the note carefully. Garon says, "Ah, from Yver! Excellent. I see he's been bitten by a female red-back. Terrible lot that. It's good that's he's been able to treat the wound though, they can be deadly. One moment please." You receive spider silk from Garon! You are awarded experience! You are awarded 5 silver and some copper! Garon says, "Here you are friend. I've managed to pull the strands apart for easier inspection of the individual strands. I'm sure Yver will appreciate that. Make sure to keep it flat, or they will bunch. Here is some of my research. Please give it to Yver." You receive a sealed scroll from Garon! [Step #2]Give the silk to Yver Yver Tiu says, "Ah, this silk looks very nice. Did he happen to have any notes on where he found it or anything? [Step #3]Give the scroll to Yver. Yver Tiu says, "Ah, his notes, excellent! Oh ho! What have we here? Possible magic properties within the silk? Excellent! But, that means that we have more [work] ahead of us to protect and scrye out why this silk is magical." *Step 4 is different depending on class! *For Spiritmasters and Thanes* Yver Tiu says, "Aye friend, more work! While you were gone, I read more of Garon's letter. He said there was a small nest of baby spiders on the wooded isle near Audliten. There is something [preying] on them." Yver Tiu says, "Aye friend. They upset the balance of nature. You should hurry to Audliten at once. There you will find a small wooded isle. On the isle are the plague rats. Kill them and return to me when you are finished." [Step #4]Travel to Audliten. Find the wooded isle near there and slay the plague rats that prey upon the baby spiders. Go towards Audliten and before you get there, there is a spot where the water comes close to the road. Turn 30 degrees to the left and there is a wooded isle. Baby spiders and Plague rats are at approximate location of 27666, 19873. Upon you setting foot on the isle, the spiders and rats will spawn. There are about 4 rats and 8 spiders. The plague rat hisses as it falls to the ground dead. *For Beserkers* Step 4: You receive an egg sack and a ticket to Vasudheim. Take the egg sack to Darrius in Ft Atla where you receive a note and a ticket to Mularn. Also get 15 silver, some copper and xp. *For Thanes, Skalds, Warriors, Healers, and Shamans* Step 4 -- You receive 3 beetles to feed the spiders, find 3 wolf spiderlings near Fort Veldon and feed them. To feed wolf spiderlings -- it says they are outside Ft Veldon but continues with info about south on the road from Haggerfel. Ignore everything except info about Ft. Veldon. The nest can be found just north of the fort, just behind the Stable Master. (They are not wolves but small spiders.) *Conclusion* [Step #5]Return to Yver in Haggerfel. Tell him you have [completed the task]. You say, "I have completed the task." Yver Tiu says, "Welcome back friend! I'm glad to see you in one piece. I hope you don't mind, but I have one more task for you to do for me. I hope you're [up for it]!" Yver Tiu says, "Excellent! Remember the ickerius spider I told you about earlier? Well, it seems there's one that roams about in Gotar! We need this specimen for study! The locals have called it [Ick], apparently, ickerius is too hard for them to pronounce." Yver Tiu says, "Aye, the ickerius spider is a nasty spider. Be careful, it has a powerful bite. I can give you directions. Travel to Nalliten, from there, go south on the road. When you reach the fork, go southeast over the bridge. He is near the mountain." [Step #6]Travel to Gotar and seek out the ickerius spider the locals call Ick. Found at loc=30534, 24302, 4744 dir=83 East Svealand (also seen at loc = 29984, 24943, 4737). He does roam a little so you may have to look around for him. You receive an Ickerius spider body from Ick. [Step 7] Return the Ickerious spider to Yver in Haggerfel. Yver Tiu says, "Ah ha! You're back! Excellent! Do you have the specimen for me? You hand Yver Tiu the Ickerius spider body. Yver does a cursory exam of the ickerius body before putting it in a large bag he has at his side. Yver Tiu says, "Excellent work my friend! Excellent work! Here, I think you'll appreciate this fine token of my [sincere gratitude] for all your hard work." Yver Tiu says, "Here you are friend. I had my compatriot, Averrius, look over the silk. He said it had properties that would benefit someone like you. I hope you can use it for some time to come. Again, I think you for all your hard work!" You receive a Silkstrand Belt from Yver Tiu! You are awarded experience! You are awarded 15 silver and some copper! You have finished the Mucking through the Ick quest. This is not a cross realm quest for Mordred and Gaharis. Midgard classes only. lvl 9 received 5,120 experience and 15 silver. Unable to "feed the spiders" with the larvae anymore. I suspect the mobs became unresponsive to the quest after they were moved to accommodate for ft. veldon changing
The reward for a mauler is the Silkstrand Belt, with Power +2, not really useful...
I would have prefered the Hardened Silkstrand Belt as a reward; for a lowbie hunter, +12 Hit Points is more beneficial than +2 Power.
Level 9 was also rewarded 5,120 experience and 15 silver.

This is simply a terribly designed quest...run from Haggerfel to East Svealand..run back to Haggerfel..Run to Fort Veldon on north side of Mulan...run back to Haggerfel...Run to Gotar!! WTF?? At 8th lvl, you have 2 choice...spend a ton of silver hiring horses, or spend a ton of time running forever...A better design would have been to keep all the destinations in one zone...not spread them across 3 zones...This is what is called a time sink

after killing about 100 spiders near nalliten i found ick along the road south of the bridge. he was just sitting there not wandering

I did this quest with my lvl 8 Runemaster.
In step 4, I had to deliver a message in Fort Atla then go back to Yver Tiu in Haggerfel.
BTW, in step 5, the named spider Ick is yellow for a 8th lvl.
Runemasters received the +2 Pow belt.

After giving the message to Yvel, Warriors (who are unmentioned in this guide) should do the same as the Thanes, Skalds, Healers, and Shamans and go feed the wolf spiderlings.

Darrius is in the room where the healer is. Is right at the back in the northern most shack in Ft Alta
The guards will point to him being outside or in the totally wrong direction (using /where) if you are suffering from lag.

Darrius has left the fort. Doing the /where command on the guards in Ft Alta all has them pointing southish out of the Fort including the guards outside the fort.

I just completed the first part of the quest with my zerker, and when I gave the note to Garon, I got the following messages.
Your Strength has decreased.
Your Intelligence has increased.
Your Charisma has increased.
Your Spirit resistance has decreased.
You recieve a spider silk from Garon.
You are awarded experience!

I am a Hunter and just finished this quest. It now gives a belt of Power + 2 (useless to me). The xp is a full bubble however (I'm lvl 8) and the coins are 25 silver overall, but subtracting for horse tickets you are left with only 5-10 silver. This item is hardly worth the time and cost to get it.

My healer got the "feed the wolf spiderlings" branch. My thane got the "slay the plague rats" branch.

When you´re walking from Vasudheim to Audliten, there is water on the left side of the road. There´s a little island there, and the rats are on this island.

I am a lvl 8 Hunter and I received the same command to kill the plague rats, but when I returned from doing this Yver wouldn't talk to me. What happened

If you look in the quest box, it will have brackets around [completed the task]. This means you have to say something like "I completed the task" and it should initiate the next part of the quest.
