First of all, Vidalf is a Host of the Wind, not an Imp. This is only significant becauses Hosts cast a searing wind (which contributed to my untimely demise on one occasion) and Imps do not. Keep it in mind when you attack. Vidalf was Orange as well to me(a Thane)at Level 10.
Having read the list of possible spawn locations noted in the entry for Vidalf, I figured the best way to discover where he starts and where he ends up was to tag along. So I planned to auto follow Vidalf. However, after waiting for quite a bit, Vefyn showed up and I decided to follow him. Afterwards, I auto-followed Vidalf and found that, on this occasion, both traveled an identical route.(You see, I have no life, so I have time to do stuff like this :)
Both Vidalf and Vefyn make a large circuit of the area around the lake -- and at one point, through the lake. So, if you hang around any one of the locs mentioned above, you'll probably see them pass by. I didn't time the loop, but I would imagine it was about 12 minutes for one circuit.
Here's the circuit, beginning at the point where both of them exited the lake:
- Exit lake approx 9430, 46200 heading North
- Continue north until they were just west of the Svart Camp (not the farm, but the camp)loc approx 7400, 32000;
- Then they turned south-southeast for a looonnnnggg leg. Passing pine imps, hosts of the earth, and the Svart Farm (on left) and lake (to the right). If you find a spot mid-way between the Farmhouse and the lake, you should spot them traveling by. End of this leg is on the side of the mtn at about 23300, 58800;
- Then, they turned due west along the mountain and traveled to loc 7400, 56700 (more or less), at which point they turned due north...
This heading took them down to the lake, then through it to the starting point...
A final point - neither Vefyn or Vidalf stopped at all during my tag-alongs. They just kept motoring along. Therefore, any mob that's parked probably isn't Vidalf.
Happy Hunting...
