DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Per patch 1.87: - Tomte Plot - Hunters may now choose the spear reward. You must complete Tomte Problems quest first. Return to Thorgil for his next fiasco with the Tomtes. Thorgil says, "So, I walked over to Hulda the shield merchant and spoke with her. She didn't know much either, but she told me about her cousins. Ever since their sister was attacked as a child by the tomtes, they have watched them and learned everything about them. Hulda told me that they would help me learn more about why the tomtes had turned on me. But I [ran into a problem]." Thorgil says, "Hulda's cousins don't live here in Audliten. They are out in the wilds of East Svealand, studying the tomtes. I can't just up and leave here to work with them especially since I just started working with Inga the arrow merchant. I needed a way to support my family, so I spoke with Inga and she agreed to teach me how to make arrows. That's why I'm glad [you've come back] to visit me." Thorgil says, "I thought perhaps you could go and speak to the brothers and learn about the tomtes. Hulda told me she would let them what has happened to me and what I wanted to know. I was hoping I could [count on you] to give me help with this problem like you did with my lost chest of jewels. If you help me, I'm sure I can find something nice for you in the chest. Well, what do you say?" Dialog box: Can Thorgil count on you to learn more about the tomtes and their plans? You have been given the Tomte Plot quest. [Step #1] Speak with Hulda the shield merchant in Audliten. Hulda says, "Hail and well met! You look like a (your class here) with a purpose for coming here. I don't think you seek a shield, but perhaps [information]?" Hulda says, "I thought so! I figured Thorgil would have to send someone in his place, since I've heard others say that Inga has begun teaching him the art of making and selling arrows. I was very sorry to hear that Thorgil has lost his farm to the tomtes. I was so busy selling shields that I hadn't had a chance to get over and speak with him about what happened. I was glad when he came in here the other day [to ask me] about the tomtes." Hulda says, "I don't know much, but as Thorgil probably told you, my cousins do. When Thorgil came to me, I couldn't say no to his plea for help. I went and visited each of my brothers and told them of Thorgil's situation. They were both very intrigued by the whole thing, for they have been watching the tomtes around here for many years. Both said they recently observed some changes in [the tomtes' behaviour]." Hulda says, "They both spent a few days watching the tomtes and then trying to make sense of what they saw. I recently received word from both of them, telling me who Thorgil should speak to. But since you are helping Thorgil, I shall tell you [which of my cousins] to speak to." Hulda says, "Both sent me word that they think Edvard would be the best one to help Thorgil. He has noticed some happenings around the tomte camps he watches that his brother Emmerick hasn't noticed. Most people don't know where Edvard likes to hide so I shall tell you. Go across the stone bridge northeast of here to the guard tower. You will find him on the top most level. Take care in climbong the ladders, they can be tricky! Remember to tell him Thorgil sent you!" [Step #2] Speak with Edvard Avarrson at the top of the guard tower. Go across the bridge northeast of Audliten to get to the guard tower." Edvard Averrson says, "Yes? Is there something I can do for you? I am rather busy, and I am also waiting for someone." [Step #3] Speak with Edvard Averrson. Tell him [Thorgil] sent you. You say, "Thorgil sent me." Edvard Averrson says, "Oh he did? Well then, you are the one I am waiting for. My cousin Hulda said that Thorgil was having problems with the tomtes. I wasn't surprised to hear it, because I have been watching them and I have noticed a change in their behavior lately. Most of the time they just pester people traveling along the road or thos that stray too close to the camps. But as I watched, I noticed that the tomtes were organizing [specific attacks]." Edvard Averrson says, "I believe that the tomtes are trying to find a way to push the people of Audliten and its surrounding area off the lands that once belonged to the tomtes. As more people have moved into the area, the tomtes have been pushed to smaller and smaller areas. There are only a few camps left around here, and because of that ,the residents around here have grown to think the tomtes have moved on or disappeard from this world. But that is [far from the truth]!" Edvard Averrson says, "The tomtes needed a place that wouldn't be taken over by the residents of the area. They searched and found a cave not far from where my brother watches them. They are crafty little men, and began to carve out a home for themselves under the earth. They worked quickly, and soon their new home was ready. Led by the strongest of the tomtes, Nisse, most of them left their lands and headed deep underground. Now, some people believe that the tomtes in the camps around here don't like dank surroundings of the cave, but that isn ot true. There is [another reason] they live above ground." Edvard Averrson says, "All this time the tomtes have been planning ways to remove the inhabitants of Audliten and the surrounding areas and reclaim them for their own. The tomtes that live in the camps above ground are the eyes and ears for Nisse and report back everything they see. Recently I've noticed more messengers heading down from the north, yet my brother has not noticed and unusual activity around the entrance to the tomte caves. That has led us both to believe [someone else] is behind this plot to drive Thorgil and the others from this area off their land." Edvard Averrson says, "I've noticed many messengers heading in and out of the camp of Edigo. It's my guess that something is going on and he knows about it. I've watched Edigo for some time now and I know he is plotting something. Most likely he's kept the messages that have been sent to him. You must get those messages so we can figure out what is going on and who is sending them. Edigo's camp is not far off from here. Head back through Audliten and take the road east out of town. Go over the stone bridge and keep going until you see the wooden tower. It's not far from Thorgil's old house. You will find Edigo there, but do not go alone! The other tomtes will anwer Edigo's call for help. Return to me when you have any messages. [Step #4] Slay Edigo and obtain any tomte messages. Go through Audliten and head east out of town. Cross the stone bridge and continue to the wooden tower near Thorgil's farm house. (Note: Another possible path for step 4: "Slay Ocug to obtain the tomte messages. To find him, swim across the river beside the guard tower, then head east up the coast to the tomte camp. Do not face Ocug alone!" and another option: [Step #4] Slay Brut to obtain any messages. Brut should be in the Tomte camp just north of the tower that's in front of Thorgil's house. He's usually standing in front of the hut in the camp closest to the little fork in the road in East Svealand loc # 36028, 26062) Edigo is at the tomte tower, loc approx 30k, 32k. He will have at least 3 other tomtes with him. When I went there was a Tomte Thug and Plunderer. Edigo says, "You so mean! You hurt Edigo and tomtes! We get you!" Edigo says, "Tomtes get you! You steal messages but you not stral our land!" You receive a stack of messages from Edigo! [Step #5] Return to Edvard Averrson at the top of the guard tower. Edvard Averrson says, "I am impressed. I watched over your battle with the tomtes from here and I liked what I saw. Thorgil did well in selecting you to help him. Now, let's see the messages you obtained." [Step #6] Give Edvard the tomte messages. Edvard takes the messages and reads them carefully. Edvard Averrson says, "It's good you brought these to me. They happen to be written in the ancient language of the tomtes, and my brother and I are experts at reading and writing it. It seems that Edigo has been following orders to drive the inhabitants of Audliten and the surrounding areas away and reclaim the land. I'm not surprised to see that the orders were issued by Smack. He has always been [eager to succeed]." Edvard Averrson says, "A long time ago, Smack displeased Nisse and was forced to leave the tomte caves and live among the races of Midgard. Since then, he has been working to get back into Nisse's good graces. It seems that he thinks if he can clear the land of invaders, as he sees them, then Nisse will be pleased and restore him to the position he once held. It appears that SMack has recruited Edigo to help in his plot. But now that Edigo is dead, Smack will try to recruit another of the tomtes. You must [stop Smack]!" Edvard Averrson says, "Gather your forces and lead t hem to Smack's stronghold. You must stop him from contacting any of the other camp leaders. Smack's stronghold isn't hard to find. Take the road east out of Audliten again, and cross the stone bridge. Continue down the road until you see a small stone fort to the southeast. That is where you will find Smack. While you are off dealing with Smack, I shall send word to Thorgil of what you are doing. Return to him when you are finished with Smack." [Step #7] Seek out the tomte known as Smack and put an end to his evil plans against Thorgil. His fort lies southeast of the road that runs between Audliten and the rope bridge. If you follow these directions you should not have a problem. The stronghold is near the drakelings. It is quite a trek, but if you end up at the rope bridge you went to far. Smack loc: 43k, 46k. Smack is surrounded by a lot of tomtes, including Tomte Skirmishers who will come to his aid, so BAF.(Smack is located inside the Tomte Fort just NE of Nisse's Lair at loc# 42398, 44827) Smack says, "So you figure out Smack's plot! Smack will stop you from sharing with Audliten! Die (your race here)!" Smack says, "You may stop Smack, but tomtes will have land back one day!" You receive a Smack's leg bone from Smack! [Step #8] Return to Thorgil in the town of Audliten. Thorgil says, "So, Smack is behind all this mess, is he? I hope you were able to take care of him. If he's gone, perhaps I can move back to my farm and go back to the life I enjoyed. Please, give me proof that you were able to rid this world of Smack." [Step #9] Give Thorgil the leg bone of Smack. You give Thorgil the leg bone of Smack. Thorgil takes the leg bone and smiles happily. Thorgil says, "I will gather a few friends and we will go out and see if we can reclaim my farm now and hopefully soon my family can move back into our home. Speaking of friends, I have a few who would be able to turn this rather nice bone into a nice weapon for you. I just need to know who to send you to. Since there's only one bone, you can only pick one. Would you like a [sword], an [axe], a [hammer], a [bow], a [spear], or a [staff] for those that use magic?" [Step #10] Choose which kind of weapon you wish to make. Ok, I did this with a highlevel SM and Thorgil would ONLY let me choose the staff. So I will include his comments here, so you can see, heh. Thorgil says, "You cannot use a bow, Spiritmaster. Perhaps a Spiritmaster like you would prefer a nice [staff]?" Thorgil says, "A staff, eh? Then take this leg bone Eirik here in Audliten and he shall make it into a staff for you. Thank you, and keep an ear out for my call, I may have need of you again!" You are awarded 20, XXX experience! You are awarded 3 silver and some copper! You receive a Smack's leg bone from Thorgil! (ok another Mythic quest screw-up) [Step #10] (actually 11) Give the bone to Eirik of Audliten to be made into a staff. You give Eirik leg bone of Smack. Sword: Sword of Smack Axe: Smack-bone Axe Hammer: Hammer of Smack Bow: Smack-bone Bow Spear: Smack-bone Spear Staff: Eirik takes the leg bone and begins to shape it into a staff. Eirik says, "Here is your staff, and a fine one it is for a Spiritmaster like you! Use it well, and smash any tomtes you may come across! Thank you!" You receive a Smack-bone Staff from Eirik! You have finished the Tomte Plot quest. Thorgil says, "I noticed you are a Savage! I have a special choice for you if you desire it. Would you prefer a [hand to hand pierce] or a [hand to hand slash]?" I picked the Hand To Hand Slash and Thorgil told me to go see Peter down the road where you give the Smack Bone to Peter and Peter makes you the "Hand Claws of Smack" lvl 12 received 78,848 experience, 5 silver.
