DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

At level 7, your guild trainer will give you the traveler's way quest. There are two trainers for each class in Jordheim, the one who you spend your points with and the one that will give you your quest. The description and reward varies by class, but is pretty easy to follow. This results in a decent class-specific magic item.

Note: If you have Shrouded Isles expansion, you may start your epic quests in Aegirhamn and not do this one. See your class page for complete quest listings.

Trainer says, "(your name here), it is time to send you out into the lands beyond ours. Explore these other lands and tell them of our house's good will and [aid those we can]."

Dialog box: Do you wish to explore these lands and aid those in other lands as a sign of our house's good faith?

You have been given the Traveler's Way quest.

Trainer says, "Well then, if you wish to journey these lands, I shall send you to Val. He can be found in the guard tower on the road to East Svealand. Do explore!"

Val is located inside the guard tower in East Svealand at loc 15375, 53282.

Val says, "Aye there. You've come a ways, haven't you now? Spare me [some time], could you?"

Val says, "Just bring me a few of those ant parts; these little ant workers have been everywhere lately. You could rid us of a few, couldn't you now."

He wants you to only kill three army ant workers and return the legs to him. After you have done this he will reward you with coin and send you to Lalida in Fort Atla in Gotar. She is the Skald trainer in Fort Atla.

Lalida says, "You look a traveler from far off. What brings you to [Fort Atla]?"

Lalida says, "Oh. Val must have sent you. I had requested his aid, but it is no longer necessary...but since you've come this way, speak with Ruk. She owes me one, tell her Lalida says hello."

Ruk is a merchant in the building just to the left as you enter Fort Atla. You will have to /say Lalida says hello for her to respond.

Ruk says, "Hello traveler. Can I help you?"

You say, "Lalida says hello."

Ruk says, "Well! I am glad. Here, now don't be telling all your friends I've give you this now."

Traveler's Way - delivery
# Jul 08 2005 at 3:47 PM Rating: Decent
as of patch 1.76, the epic quest seems to have changed somewhat. my /level huntress was given the "Traveler's Way - delivery" quest at 20 by her trainer. after first being sent to Val, he directs her to go to Sveck who is said to have needed aid. once arriving in the guardtower outside Audliten, Sveck said something about Val sending his slowest messenger (me) because the problem was already taken care of. then i was sent on to Pireda, who rewarded me with the Traveler's Cloak as usual.

looks to be an odd mix of the two epics hehe.

Ok, So At Level 7 With My Shaman Kobold My Trainer Tells me To Find "VAL" In East Svealand. We'll East Svealand Is A Big Frigg'n Place. So After I Search Are For What Seems To Be A Year Or So I Find His Tower. Next To Dvalin. Now I Find That I Have To Kill 3 Army
Ant Workers. At Level 7 Most Con Yellow To Me. But If You Do A 180 Coming Out Of The Tower, Skip The First Set Of Ants You See And Stay Near The Water On Your Left You'll Find A Few Blue Ants To Kill (Watch It, They Call For Help ALL THE TIME).

Ok So Now You Have The Ants Legs And You've Given Them To Val, NOW You Must Go To Fort Atla. Keep Going Down The Road You Took To Dvalin. Once There You'll Talk To Lalida, Then You Have To Talk To Ruk. Who At Last Ends Your Dang Quest And Gives You A Health Ring +2 Piety +2 Const. Along The Way You'll Pick Up Some Silver And Some EXP. But In My Opinion This Quest Covers MUCH TO MUCH Territory For Only A Little Reward.

I agree that its way too far to run and the areas you run through are really dangerous for a level 7, but I think the ring is great. Guess its easier if you have money and can afford a horse throughout the quest.

im am doing the travelers way quest! and am suppose to find Val in E. Svealand! have died twice trying to find this person! can someone tell me PLEASE where this person is!!!!!!!
RE: location, location, location
# Dec 17 2001 at 4:13 AM Rating: Default
Val is at the Fort next to the outpost Dvalin. Dvalin is an outpost next to the city Hugginfell. Hugginfell is a city a bit off the road between Fort Atla and Jordheim.

Hope this helps to give you a better idea of where he is. If you fight in E. Svealand you should have an easy time finding the wooden bridge, and I am pretty sure the Fort that Val is in is visible from the bridge. Try it out, hope this helps.

There is usually a big group of ants surrounding the fort too, as after you talk to him he'll ask you to kill a couple of ant soldiers around the area. Then from there it's off to Fort Atla to talk to a few people back and forth within the city and then receive your class specific item. Good luck.

Can anyone help me with finding the Green Vipers or the Ribbon Frogs? No idea where those are and it's not in the beastiary sites.. thanks.

I don't know if it is a bug, but it's quite wierd :
-at level 7 I got this quest from my dwarf trainer in Jordheim (I'm a troll skald), and had the quest about sveawolf mothers from Adriane. I finished it and got the ruby tunic.
-at level 8, I got ANOTHER Traveller's Way quest; from the kobold trainer in Jordheim (for each class, there are 2 trainers in Jordheim) : this time I must go see Val... Dunno the reward yet, I just hope it won't be the same :)

I didn't actually go to a trainer in Jordheim until 12th level, so didn't get this quest until then. You can complete it if you're higher. I begain and completed it while a 12th level. :-)
RE: Max Lvl Incorrect
# Nov 23 2001 at 10:27 PM Rating: Default
...of course, once I did, I was unlucky enough to get a Ruby Studded Jerkin (AF14, Abs 19%), which is pretty useless at my level. :-(

Was hoping to get a bracelet or amulet or something I might have sn open slot for.

Advice: Do this quest early! <snort>

Started the quest in Jordheim. First asked to see Adriane. She is found in the guardtower west of Mularn. She then instructed me to kill 3 mother Sveawolves and return the hides to Sveck, who is found in the guardtower north of Audliten. The mother sveawolves are found near the guardtower north of Audliten. For the last step, he told me to find Pireda in Audliten for my reward, the Ruby Studded Jerkin.

I completed the quest in about 20 mins, return the skins to Sveck and merchant in town gives you a Travelers Cloak (+4 to dex). I'm guessing the reward is class-specific
