Quest Contest
This was posted by Sanya on the Camelot Herald on Friday afternoon, as she apologizes for the the announcement of the winner has been extended a week. ~Hands Sanya some visine and an ice pack~
My eyes, my eyes, my poor bleeding eyes...
It's my own fault. I didn't want to stifle the creativity of the authors in our community, so I didn't set an absolute limit on the word count. And so, it seems like everyone went over a thousand words. Some of you sent absolute epics - but so well written that I just HAVE to find out what happened next.
I can't delete entries that seem to start out as boring, treacly cliches - so many of you love surprise endings that I can't take anything for granted.
I even thought that given the usual style of communication in my email, that I'd be able to throw out some entries for poor written skills. Nope. Wrong. SO wrong, I was.
And the absolute worst is narrowing down the field. I have over thirty must-reads for the quest team (which I need to narrow down even further) - and eighty submissions have yet to be read. Considering what gems I've already seen, I'm not about to delete eighty tales of love, valor, and glory.
Here's a PARTIAL list of ones I've loved so far. Many people didn't include titles, so I tried to pick an appropriate one for this list. If you don't see your work of art on the list, it may well be that I haven't read yours yet. In no particular order:
Bodilica the Toad
Rashara's Quest
Keris and the Poker Game
The Kidnapping of Jarl Hragnulf Borgersson
Tale of the Twins (no, it is definitely not the Dragonlance story)
Tormis and Selena
The Cursed Harper and the Moonstone
Crystal of Dreams
Heart of Albion
Gauven's Ale
Starcrossed
Brywin and The Ember
Troll Horse Gruff
The Silvertongue Bracelet
The Conachan Deer
Yarley's Swine
Elletir's Stolen Shield
Ring of Betrayal
Prevent the Truce
The Blind Bard's Tale
Cassandra's Hand
Ecgald and the Moon Crown
Killer of Giants
The Story of Tianil Perlander
Bane of the Sheerie Lord
Arawn, Lord of Anwn
Niamh's Illness
Dying to Meet Meanoiche
Emain Macha Pass
In the Name of Love
Obviously, the announcing of the finalists has to be delayed until next week. My apologies, and my heartiest thanks to everyone who entered.
