She was a big pain to spawn. My logs show I killed 30 (THIRTY!) 'a sylph trickster' before she spawned. Thankfully she dropped the bow right away. I stayed in the area for a while and annoyingly she spawned on the next cycle too, and again dropped the bow! Good news for my bard wife :). Morromid's map location (in game loc of 316, -1304) is correct.
after zoning in, just head east, you'll see the mobs. IF you're lost, put this in maps\elddar_3.txt:
P 1304.2909, -316.5171, -98.9712, 0, 0, 0, 3, Trickster_Velana
You are NOT KOS to these mobs (OK, I was not) There are no faction hits. They will love you no less for killing them for days on end.
This is not an easy camp to solo until you clear a few mobs and can single pull. you hace dual pulls on several mobs so it hepls to pacify, or root or mez (Haven't tried) them. I rooted and it worked ok but they break root fast.
1. The mobs are highly social 2, When you agro one, the social agro distance is fairly large. You can easily get one and perhaps more to assist his buddy 3, When agro'd they may come directly to you or not. Many times they will fly across left or right agroing their buddies on the way. It's easy to get 4 or 5 at a time until you clear a few out of the way. 4. Be wary of agro from wandering wolves. You may think just one or two sylphs are on you but the added wolf can be a killer.
My necro rooted one and then tried to kill the followers. 3 on me was worth an Evac until I got used to it. 1. Root works but wears off fairly fast. 2, Necro snare/darkness works great. 3. All my Dots worked fine, but there are some resists and an occasional one with lots of resists.
The sylph windrunners in the area were hitting my 85 necro with an average 400-500 hp and the max was 1010.
Running in and just killing Velana is not a great idea.
for necros, my FD failed because of the casters. FD works ok, but when you have a large group on you, evac is a better choice since you'll die pretty fast when FD fails from the spells coming at you.
My first time looking for her here, and there she was, which was after a patch. A day with hours of killing and she never popped again, quite disappointing. I did not get the bow for my Paladin I was after.
edit: That spell they cast is an AE spell, so stay away from your pet/tank and his mobs and you can fd easier
edit: Woo hoo! 2nd day of camping and she popped with the bow. My 62 Paladin will be pleased and hot to level to 64 to use it.
Ph isnt listed atm, levelrange is 69-71, other mobs around. The loc is p320 n1304 its near the sea. found only this trickster. became no factionhit after kill ph/named. you can single pull the ph with aggro/snare/zone but named isnt snareable. the mobs around add when aggro. (dont aggro a tree the root you ( ).
The PH you refer to, where abouts would they be located? I seem to recall some down around the orcs area, probably off to the right abit? Is it off say every Trickster or just a particular one?
Thanks for any heads up on this.
** Edit - Is there any faction issues here? Do other creatures, eg animals etc Agro on this?
Ok this guy is a pita. Firstly I play a 70 Beastlord with Anguish level gear, and about 650 AA's, I also botted a 70 Druid, Cleric & Mage for this. The location mentioned by Vmas is correct tho it's a lake, not a sea :) All mobs there are social and the Sylphs have a fairly wide agro range. The Elddar population don't seem to worry about the beating up of a Sylph but not sure what would happen if they were in range of the AE it casts.
The mob casts a spell called "shimmering silence dust" which basically is a 18sec AE Silence spell, very nasty when your healers get hit by it. I imagine there is a range to land so it would be a matter of experimenting how far healers should stay out of range. This guy was hard to slow (least for me) though it can be slowed. It can not be snared as mentioned above and this mob will keep fighting right up to 0%. He summons ever 10secs or so (never timed it but it was often). With AC of 2120 the mob's maximum hit was 1319, with most hits being in the high 100's.
Method of attack was to snare pull the outside Sylphs and evac or Call of Hero back. If snare failed then it was like a mini bee swarm after you, picking up stray animals along the way. Whittling away the perimeter to get to the PH or named was the best way and pulling them up to the ridge to kill off. Anyhow it dropped the bracer today so was fun.
Hope this helps some people.
edit ** No Faction hits were taken. Mobs con indifferent so can walk right up and say hello if you wish.
