As a 74 BST, I can assure you that your elemental resistance has nothing to do with Charm.

I recently bought this to replace my chr+3 necklace in my charm macro. I've read, heard, and tested many things that have prooven true that chr really is one of the lesser factors in charm. Anyone who's used light or Appalo's staff will say the same, so i figured 30k wasnt too bad, and i would give this a shot. This throws my light up to about 29 or so, I'm aware thats my resistance to light, but i'm prety sure your elemental defense also effects magic/abilities of that element too. Nothing that could be prooven as of yet, but its something i've heard enugh to merit a test.

Is it possible that maybe Light/Apollo's staves' ability to up light magic spells can influence charm as well?
I mean that seriously. In theory, an Ice/Aquilo's could influence Provoke. Lightning for Shield Bash. Earth for the various Sentinal/Defender. Just a curiosity. I'm not into switching weapons myself but it sounds like a fun thing to test out on Pally.

Shield bash requires a shield in the off-hand so that theory is out.
Yeah, I was going to get one of these for Ballista. Goddamn BRD DRK and BLMs and their sleep. So annoying to deal with. I'd rather just resist so I don't have to poison myself. =/

If you're going into a situation where you want the best possible chance of resisting sleep or any other dark-based (or light-based) spell, then this would be a great piece of equipment to swap in as needed!
Why do they Put P.O.S items like this in the game.
This is nice when farming in Feyin and Xcarbard, and the Glacier. I use it often to max out resistance to Dark. Throw in a jack-o-lantern (25 dark resistance) and im sitting at 82 dark resistance) You might want to consider this for the Shadow Lord fight (rank 6).
It has it's uses. -_-

Well, I got the drop, but uh... so what? :) I guess my dark resist of 60 is nice... hehe
