Need to update their loot. They drop those gaudy runes, air arachnid silk, various other silks, elegant augs and more.

spawns during the ring event later on, they just keep coming and coming. aoe stuns and nukes for em.
Indeed, they respawn quickly if you kill them. If you're trying to do the Ring Event for access to the Xegony raid area, you need to lock them down and go find the avatar that spawned in one of the temples when you killed the main spiders. But if all you're trying to do is finish off the Don't Bug Me slayer achievement, burn away! I was soloing my monk so no AEs (I used a wizard merc but even at level 100 these guys finished him off after a while), and got over 900 spider kills before the timer ran out.
