Jailer of Love's ??? Location

    • After three sets of Qn'xzomits and Qn'hpemdes are defeated, they will no longer be spawned, causing just Ru'phuabos to spawn.

  • Has a potent auto-regeneration effect that cannot be dispelled.

    • After three sets of Qn'xzomits and Qn'hpemdes are defeated, Jailer of Love's auto-regeneration effect will be greatly weakened.

  • Melee attacks have an additional Paralysis effect.

  • Will periodically change its base element, and will only cast spells based on the element it is based on at the time (i.e. it will only cast Fire based spells when based on the Fire element).

    • Nukes and skillchain effects based on the element Jailer of Love is at the time will heal it.

  • After Jailer of Love is defeated, the notorious monster Absolute Virtue will spawn.

Jailer of Love Special Attacks

  • Magic Spells: Capable of casting Tier 3 -ga, Tier IV single nuke, and -ga versions of enfeeble spells based on what element it currently has affinity to.

  • Fluorescence: Self target Attack boost effect that wears off on the following melee attack or physical tp move. (Effect can be dispelled)

  • Torrential Torment: AoE magic damage with an additional effect of unequipping all gear.

  • Vitriolic Barrage: AoE magic damage with an additional Poison effect. Damage is calculated by dividing 1,000 by however many players and/or pets are hit by it. This means that a Vitriolic Barrage that hits ten targets will do a maximum of 100 damage to them.

  • Concussive Oscillation: AoE damage with additional Gravity and Knockback effects.

  • Primal Drill: AoE physical damage with an additional Bind effect.

  • Ion Shower: AoE magical damage with an additional Stun effect.

  • Asthenic Fog: AoE Water based DoT with an additional Strength down effect.

  • Luminous Drape: AoE Charm effect.

  • Astral Flow: Causes the current pets spawned to perform the same tp move simultaneously. Denoted by the characteristic mob two hour animation. (Can occur multiple times)

Okay, this page is very lacking in useful information about the Jailer of Love so I'm going to post about my LS's experience with it tonight. I'm assuming if you are coming here you already know how to pop it, so I wont get into that.

When you spawn JoL, it will have a certain element associated with it. This element is easy to figure out- it is the element the jailer is casting. If it casts stone, it is currently stone-based, aero=wind-based, etc. Casting spells that are the same as its current elemental base heals its HP. Its exactly like ZM8 and the en-spells. Have someone in the alliance call out what element it is and whether summoners can use diabolos. (It can be light or dark element as well as the other 6). Throughout the fight, the element that heals its HP will change. When this happens, a "2-hour" animation will occur and you will have to either wait for the jailer to cast again or use tier I spells to figure out what element not to use. For all blm, i would strongly recommend sticking to blizzard spells unless he is ice-based because they provide the most damage potential. Load up on elemental magic skill also, as he resists quite frequently.

Tanking JoL requires a lot of HP. While it is possible to stay out of his melee range for most of the fight, he casts aga III spells and tier IV magics almost constantly.

Also, throughout the fight, he will summon either phuabos, hpemdes, or xzomits three at a time. I believe he summons every 2.5 minutes, so have an add party or alliance ready to claim them quickly before they can do much damage to the main alliance.

As mentioned below, JoL drops:

1) Aura of Adulation = Novio Earring ~Rare~
Magic Attack Bonus +7 level 75 Earring
2) Aura of Voracity = Novia Earring ~Rare~
Evasion +7 Enmity -7 Level 75 Earring
3) Love Halberd = Level 73 Polearm ~Rare/Ex~
DRG/SAM - DMG:60 Delay:396 DEX+7
Occasionally attacks twice with virtue stone equipped
4) Love Torque = Level 73 Torque ~Rare/Ex~
DEX+5 Dagger skill+7 Polearm skill+7

Note that he DOES NOT directly drop Novio or Novia earrings. The rare/ex auras are turned in to a NPC in Tavnazian Safehold to obtain the prizes.

Killing Jailer of Love has a random chance to spawn Absolute Virtue, a NM Aern and arguably the most difficult monster currently in the game.

Edit- Fixed and added stats on the drop items

Novio and Novia

This does NOT drop Novio and Novia earrings. It drops Aura of Adulation and Aura of Voracity, which are used in a quest to get the earrings.

This isn't a dumb name.

The names of the Jailers are based on positive virtues, Temperance, Hope, Faith, Fortitude, Prudence, Justice, Love...
They sealed Absolute Virtue in Al'Taieu, hence why he (randomly) spawns as the last of his captors is slain. Also why their weapons are used to weaken him.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 22 2006 at 4:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah so this is the JoL thread. But since no one has posted it yet, AV was taken down this past weekend by a group on the Remora server. Part of the trick was to use the Jailer weapons. Apparently, AV does not use the 2hr of the jobs whose weapons are being used on him.
CFH on AV??
# Mar 21 2006 at 6:15 AM Rating: Default
Did most of you guys actually see AV yourself?

You dont need to CFH on him so he can be beaten by anyone. He gets unclaimed just the Sec you hit him with something. Everyone can target and attack him no matter if you're in Alliance, PT or just around solo.

JoL was killed on Hades 2 times now, both by the same LS. One time AV poped, one he didnt.

AV ran around for 2-3h just killing randomly, whoever dared to attack him. BLM Thundaga3 with Max Ele Magic Merits hit him for 70 DMG.

He was killed now on Remora, but he didnt Drop anything.

PS: JoL got killed by Ex 2 times with around 40~ ppl at both kills.
So yeah..

how do you know? Do you have any link or source for this information or is this just speculation like everyone else? I read in an interview he was killable by 18 members of the development team. That hardly sounds like 50 GMs who were barely able to kill him. And if it took 50 GMs to barely kill him how could they expect any number of users to? I think your post is complete speculation.

That is Totaly a dumb-*** statement, ur like 70% of all titan thinking "nothing is possible" lol u can have 64 members in a linkshell and u can swap out alliances. therefore 50 is TOTALY possible. and no one knows how many players were used to defeat him, no one knows the jobs, how long it took or anything so stop jumping to ur stupid conclusions and open ur eyes..

Possible Strategy
# Feb 20 2006 at 4:46 AM Rating: Default
I've been out of the loop for a while, but I do remember when the sea gods first came out there there was always seemed to be a subtle trick to make beating them easier. They always come off as very hard at first, I remember my first go at one of the Ix'aern turning into a nightmare, and we had 9 people for that one. Anyways, here's a possible strategy for the Love+AV fight, that I've been pondering over for some time. Now, obviously Love itself posses a major threat, with high HP regen, armor stripping TP moves, and from what i understand, 18 pets? I've seen a screen shot of many many pet mobs swarming around, so I assume that's true. Even if the number isn't quite that high, this next bit will hold true. I think the whole fight should be taken more from a Dynamis aspect then from an HNM one. As in, allocate the majority of the black mages, preferable 10+, into a single alliance, with one tank, preferable a pld, in each one, or let him go during the AV fight, as each party will need it for this. BRDs too over rdms, again for PLD reasons. Now, this alliance keeps the pets dead, at all times. Then there needs to be two main alliances for Love, one to hold it, using standard tactics, with a few blm or smn in for the bursting SCs on it. Basically, it should be blitzed, when one alliance has shot its 2hrs and SCs, they all /disengage as a pld from the other flashes it, Invincables to pull hate off, and the 2nd alliance goes for it. That's the trick part right there, it might be more plausable to just stick to one alliance, so as not to accidently face causalities with the hate transfer, or accidently calling for help, but either way, it needs to be taken down relatively fast. Now, for the key to surviving AV. Another alliance, or party, needs to be waiting outside of the Love fight, not participating. This group needs any PLDs with Crimson grieves, thfs, nins, a nd a whm or two. This is the kiter group. Yes, they'll die relatively fast, but, the objective is like this. Thf pulls hate first, by any means necessary and 2hrs, another thf satas near the end of the 2hr and does the same. At this time, the BLM alliance is holding 1-2 of the wynavs, the plds invinble to initally get hate, and the BLMs nuke, but do not kill, the wynavs. As the Perfect dodges in the kiters wear, PLDs step up and invincible. During this time, the HNM will be spirit linking the wynavs, as recorded on a previous forum. I believe there are 3 wynavs in all, and the other 1-2 wynavs can be held by the alliance that killed Love. Everyone deals dmg carefully, and several RDM/DRK should at this time be allocated to each alliance, to stun the wynavs shoudl they spam -ga III spells. Now, the 2nd alliance that was left from Love, either the one that switched hate with the main one, or the one that sat back, either is fine, stores TP to 300%, staying back a bit from the action for now. When AV gets low, below 2-3%, where the HP regen is negating the spirt link effect, they switch in with the kiter alliance and blitz kreig it. From the information gathered off of other forums, it appears that 2-3 spirit links did 2% dmg to AV, so up to 100 spirit links may need to be done, but probably far fewer if the alliances are handling things well, maybe as few as 30-50. Now, this means the kiter alliance must live that long, that is the hard part. For now, since I'm not playing at the moment, I can only suggest Invincable and Perfect dodge two hours, then kiting with evasion adn HP gear, with brd song Mazurka if it works, if not then crimson grieves, using Blink tanks only when others are dead. It may even take smn's tanking, 2hring a pet to get hate and letting it take for a moment or two as actual tanks getting revived. So, there's the test of this strategy, can the kiting alliance live?

WALL O' TEXT.

And no, just no.

JoL is a wuss now, Prudence is the 'hard' god of sea because of his random glitchiness. All you need for JoL is perfect add control and very strong BLMs to nuke away his pets as soon as he summons them. Once he starts only summoning 3 phabuo types he's easy prey to a zerg.

As for your AV 'strategy'

Pro tip: Unsilencable, Unstunnable, Instacast Meteor owns kiters. Even if it didn't, its faster than Flee run speed will kill Your perfect dodge/invincible 'strategy' is a complete waste of time and exp.

I get the feeling you've never even been to sea. Anyone with that access knows that bard mazurka wears the instant you're hit with anything, and that spells pierce right through perfect dodge and invincible. Your kiters won't just die relatively fast, they'll die the instant they get AV's attention.

RE: AV Beatable?
# Mar 20 2006 at 9:56 AM Rating: Default
50 GMs? Unless you mean test-team by that, I highly doubt that. GMs are meant to be able to do anything. Did you ever here about Vrtra glitching to the upper layer of King Ransperre's? A GM took that ***** down solo. Also, what ebmacn said is true, to an extent. While I've heard of no such interview, the game is designed so every monster can be taken with 18 monsters, not counting special areas and instances, like Dynamis. Most HNM shells are pussies who care more about reward than challenge, which is, in my opinion, why BLMs and Manaburns are getting gimped with ToAU.

Named Absolute Virtue, he ~supposidly~ drops 6 sins.

Now, he has horrific HP regen and chainspells many Extremely powerful spells, AoE charms, uses all known 2hr, has up to 3 ~pets~ out at the same time (that all cast ----ga III) blah lah blah.

Anyway AV being ~Virtuess~ I think its very likley that we need the Sins to defeat him/her. So theres a quest somewhere to get the sins to use on AV, possibly involving killing the other jailers and recieving a rare/ex item that only drops once someone activates the quest.

Yes i would imagine SE's team with a full alliance had no problem but you have to remember they prolly had best endgame equip along with any tips or tricks on beating him easier since they programmed it. I just wish there were some screenies of AV :"(. Who knows though i just wouldn't mind taking a quick look at em :)

This thing used to be nearly unkillable, having auto-regen rumored to be 1000+, but I've been hearing that it was nerfed to only a few hundred or so, and it's been killed much more often recently. Absolute Virtue HAS been spawned after it dies, however it is certainly not a guarenteed event.

As far as I know, no one is sure yet what the correct circumstances to pop AV are, it might be something specific it might just be lottery.

Regarding AV himself, he so far seems unkillable. I've heard about people calling for help on it and then pounding it with over a hundred people all at once, never to get it below 95% or so, and it regens back to full right away. They've tried using the virtue weapons on it, as well as anything else you can think of, to no effect. My guess is that either they'll nerf him in the future, one (or more) of the new jobs in the upcoming expansion will be able to make a difference, or something else in the expansion will change the fight in some way, maybe an item like the ones you use in COP missions that disable the mobs somehow, or a combination. Either way, at this point AV is untouchable.
