Contents [hide]

General Information

  • Will periodically change from standing on four legs to standing upright on two.

    • While on four legs, Proto-Omega is strongly resistant to physical damage, and while on two legs, Proto-Omega is resistant to magical based damage. Once its hp has dropped below 20%, Proto-Omega will stand up on its hind legs again. Once this happens, it will receive a large attack increase and a resistance to both physical and magic damage.

  • Proto-Omega's melee attacks have an additional Stun effect that cannot be dispelled.

  • In order to spawn the Armoury Crate, Proto-Omega must be defeated within the allotted time.

Proto-Omega Special Attacks

Four-legged Form

  • Guided Missile: AoE magic damage with an additional Bind effect. (Circle of effect originates from move target).

  • Target Analysis: AoE Stat absorption effect.

  • Ion Efflux: Frontal cone Paralysis effect.

  • Rear Lasers: Rear cone AoE magic damage with additional Petrification effect. (Occurs when hate has been drawn on Proto-Omega from behind).

  • Pile Pitch: Strong AoE magic damage with additional Bind and enmity decrease effects.

Two-legged Form

  • Hyper Pulse: AoE magic damage with additional Bind and Gravity effects.

  • Floodlight: AoE magic damage with additional Silence and Blind effects.

  • Stun Cannon: Frontal cone AoE magic damage with an additional Paralysis effect.

  • Guided Missile II: AoE magic damage with an additional Bind effect. (Circle of effect originates from move target.)

Final Form

  • Laser Shower: Frontal cone AoE magic damage. (Damage is most potent for targets standing directly in front of Proto-Omega).

  • Colossal Blow: Strong single target physical damage with an additional knockback and enmity reset effect.

    • Colossal Blow is a "throat stab" attack. It is normally unable to deal more damage than the target's current HP, but can deal enough damage to defeat the target if the target is equipped with gear that increases the amount of physical damage it receives (such as Rancor Collar).

Non-Form Specific

  • Pod Ejection: Spawns a single Gunpod.

    • Proto-Omega will spawn one any time that it switches from standing on four legs to standing on two. It will also add this to its regular attack repetoire once its hp drops to below 20%.

Soooo... Anyone got any particular strategies for this guy? My Limbus group has repeatedly got our asses kicked. The main issue is tanking. We tried 3 PLD/WAR alternating main tank the first time but were just overpowered by the amount of damage we took.

Last time, we tried PLD/WAR kiting 4 legs and NIN tanking 2 legs. NIN tanking 2 legs worked really well because he attacks really slowly. Kiting 4 legs not so much. He has Stun on his attacks and frequently casts bind so I couldn't really kite about half the time. Also he's really fast so I'm not sure how much damage I saved by doing it. AOE also did so much damage to the melees we had that we ran out of healing power very fast. I'd say we would need 3-4 WHM or SMN healing to keep up with the damage he dishes out.

So any ideas? We are thinking next time about trying 3 PLD/NIN sharing hate and straight tanking 4 legs... but meh.

So, here's a bit of info about Proto-Omega. P-Omega is about the same as the PM6-4 version, but on a whole other level. He has a little bit more than 25000 HP, and he's immune to Sleep, Gravity, Bind, Dispel and Blind. He's highly resistant to dark magic and CCB Polymers, of course, don't work on him.

Proto-Omega has 3 forms. He will starts on 4 legs, then get up on 2 legs around 2 minutes after he was aggroed. He'll keep switching back and forth untill he has 25% HP left, then he'll stay on 2 legs and go berserk.

Four Legs Form

In that form, he is insanely resistant to physical attacks and somewhat "weak" to magic. Melees have told me he takes like 10% of their normal damage, and our nukes hit him for about 70% of what they usually do. Proto-Omega's attacks on this form will hit a PLD for about 200 each, with an additional effect of stun.

4 Legs special attacks :
Guided Missile: Medium AoE ~400-750 physical damage on a target, absorbed by Utsusemi (4 sec to use)
Ion Efflux: A heavy paralyze, cone AoE (4 sec to use)
Target Analysis: Medium AoE Absorb-ALL, absorbed by Utsusemi (4 sec to use)
Pile Pitch: Everyone's favorite move in PM6-4. 90% of current HP, reduced by -physical damage gear. It binds the targer and reset his hate. (4 sec to use)
Rear Lasers: Cone Petrify with some damage, it only happens if someone behind Proto-Omega steals hate.

Two Legs Form

Now he's getting into it. When he's on 2 legs, he will take crap damage from nukes (10%) and is "weak" to physical attacks (70%). Proto-Omega's attacks are now doing around 500 damage on PLDs, altho the stun is gone. Since Proto-Omega is suscetible to stuns, I very much recommend stunning Floodlight and Stun cannon. These 2 moves can litteraly paralyze your group for a few seconds, and that's dangerous for your tanks.

2 Legs special attacks:
Guided Missile II: Large AoE ~475 magic damage, IGNORES Utsusemi (5 sec to use)
Hyper Pulse: Very Large AoE ( any mages in casting range will eat it ) ~300 magic damage with a long Gravity and a brief bind. It wipes all shadows from Utsusemi. (4 sec to use)
Stun Cannon: Very Large AoE ~300 magic damage and Paralysis, ignores Utsusemi (6 sec to use)
Floodlight: Large AoE ~300 magic damage with an long Flash, an even longer Blind and a silence just to **** up the tanks, ignores Utsusemi (6 sec to use)

Final 2 legs form

At 25% HP, he will go on 2 legs and go nuts. Proto-Omega's attacks are now doing 600 damage, and he takes around 50% damage from both magical and physical attacks. He also spams special attacks at this point, so unless you got someone with Aegis, you better kite his ***. It becomes quite hectic because his Colossal Blow is much like Pile Pitch, except the fact that it can kill you. As it resets hate to whoever eats it, hate might bounce around a lot.

2 Legs special attacks:
Pod Ejection: Spawn a Gunpod (3 sec to use). The Gunpods have about 2000 HP, so two Tier IV nukes or Spirits Withins should knock them out. Kill them ASAP, they hit hard.
Colossal Blow: Massive damage, knockback and hate reset, ignores Utsusemi (4 seconds to use)
Laser Shower: Cone Attack ~150-900 damage (6 seconds to use). Damage is greatly reduced by kiting.

Rewards
Every Gunpods drop 6 Ancient Beastcoins, an AF+1 material, one of the chips used to enter the battle OR a synth material. If you can survive the last form for a while, farm the Pods untill the timer is almost up and finish him then. Once Proto-Omega is defeated, an Armoury Crate appears and it contains 5 Ancient Beastcoins and 2-3 parts of his body. These parts can be traded to Wilhelm in Mhaura for Homam gear. They're all lvl 75, and can be used only by THF, PLD, DRK, DRG and BLU.

Thats just a picture of Proto-Omega on its hind legs...apparently he can do that Q_Q.

This BC drops his body parts, used for Homam gear. The Proto-Ultima BC in Temenos drops Ultima parts that are used for Nashira gear.

Holy crap, it looks like a fusion of Ultima and Omega. o.O I hear parts of this guy are needed to get the Homam Corazza... and when I asked a JP guy where he got his Corazza, he told me Apollyon, so I guess this guy is in there.
