This is one of the multiple path quests... Karle Alfevson says, "You are looking well. Have you been out [exploring]?" Karle Alfevson says, "Have you seen the giant sea beast that has been [ravaging the town] when it can't feed off anything else?" Karle Alfevson says, "Well, not the whole town. Just the people in it. The beast belongs out to sea, but somehow, it got stuck here, in the inlet of water and the harbor. Occasionally, when it runs out of fresh fish and can't find any animals roaming the shores, it comes to town. We need to kill this beast." Dialog box: Will you kill this sea beast? You have been given the Ibicus quest. Karle Alfevson says, "It's known as Ibicus. When you kill it, bring me it's carcass, and you will be well rewarded." [Step #2] Kill Ibicus. Nibalk says, "Hey! Hey! Come here!" Nibalk says, "Are you hunting [Ibicus]?" Nibalk says, "Yes, that large sea beast that's been devouring people everywhere. I understand that Ota, Karle, and Longbeard are all offering rewards for the carcass, to hang as trophies. I don't think that's what should be done! What a waste! No no no no listen to me. Take the carcass to the [Mussalkan]." Nibalk says, "A creature like Ibicus is a gift to them! Althought they know him as Molvor. They can do so much with it! They will give you tokens, talismans, and trinkets of all sorts if you give them the carcass of a beast such as Ibicus! These trinkets and tokens, and the talismans, if you bring them to me, I will pay you not only for killing Ibicus, bu also for the trinkets they give you in exchange for the carcass! Think of it. It's worth more to ya!" Gazsi says, "Come speak to me!" Gazsi says, "Are you part of the [nonsense]?" Gazsi says, "The sea beast, Ibicus. There are a few who have expressed interest in having the beast killed and returned to the town, to be displayed as a trophy! Rewards were promised, but still the Ibicus it is more valuable to the Musslaklan than it is to the leaders. It would also please me, more, to see the beast everyone around here is calling Ibicus give to the Musslaklan. They will use the remains to feed themselves, create items from the bones, and will find some uses for the [carcass], I imagine. They generally do." Gazsi says, "Yes. Kill Ibicus, I agree. But don't take the carcass to those expeditionaries who want to display it on their walls or huts as trophies. They will pay you some money, but the musslaklan will pay you in tokens and trinkets. Turn the carcass of Ibicus in to a Musslaklan Trader and bring me the trinkets and tokens. The musslaklan know Ibicus as Movlor. Remember that. I will pay you a reward for the carcass, and I will pay you for the trinkets. It's your choice." Go kill Ibicus who can be found near the stone bridge, in the water, on the hill, or on the bridge. (location 43488, 31460. North of Aegir behind some boobrie hatchlings) [Step #3] Return the carcass of Ibicus. I selected Ota Yrling to return the carcass to. Ota Yrling says, "Ah. Do you have a carcass? The carcass of Ibicus? Did you defeat him? Tell me you did! I will pay you a handsome price for that carcass!" Hand Ota Yrling the Ibicus carcass. Ota Yrling says, "Yes! Ha! Longbeard can eat it! I've got Ibicus! I've got Ibicus! Longbeard is going to have to eat his words now! Telling me I haven't the sense of a huldu! Huh! Well! You give him to me, I will give you gifts! Gazsi likes our gifts. I'll give you gifts for Movlor, you take to trade with Gazsi." I gave the Musslaklan Trader the Ibicus carcass. Musslaklan Trader says, "Movlor is large. Has eaten many the musslaklan youth. But we could not hunt him!" You receive musslakan gifts from Musslaklan Trader! You are awarded 81,920 experience! I wanted to correct the helm to Smyga's and it was Hobgoblins not the cat Spat which I tried to do right afterwards...Smyga's is better than the Ibicus (it's still yellow).

I got the quest the day I went 13lvl after talking to Karle Alfevson. Longbeard didn't want to talk, neither did Ota Yrling; Nibalk I talked to after Gazsi and then I tried everyone once again with the same results. Each time I went by Gazsi I was spelled with increased speed just as I heard him call out to me. I took the carcass to Musslaklan Trader in the camp with Krum sw of Dyerfjell( the 2nd camp furtherest from Dyerfjell). I received 31,856 exp. as a aug. shaman there. I went straight to Gazsi where I received 10 silver; some copper; 63,712 exp. and the Ibicus soft-lined cap (piety 6 pts;power 2 pts and AF effective 13) much less AF than the Smelty(?)Helm (the one from the cat quest). Also 1 less piety from it also. The Ibicus remains seem to stay with you as I haven't found anyone to except them. Oh, and I was neutral to the Musslaklan as I had been killing Morvalts the whole day before.

Well, some much for the walk-thru, Longbeard just gave my Hunter the sword....not sure what I'm gonna do with that. Really wanted the sleeves and this walk-thru says that's what happens. Wrong. Beware, be warned.

I did this quest, and Ibicus dropped Ibicus Remains. They don't do anything, nobody wants them, and they can't be sold.
I had this same thing happen with Stinky in Hibernia.

I did this quest today as a 13 hunter. I spoke with Karle and then proceeded to kill Icibus.
*note* I then went to the primitave traders and they were still agressive so I decided just to go back and hand the item to Longbeard for sleeves.
When I arrived back Karle told me that Longbeard had lost his friend to the beast. I went to speak with Longbeard and he would not respond. I tried to hand him the carcass and he would not take it. So I basically gave up and handed the carcass to Karle and got the sword which I am not spec'd in.
Basically, if you do this quest speak with all the npcs noted above before setting off to kill the sea beast. I am assuming that is where I went wrong. Atleast speak with the npc that you wish to get your class specific item from if you choose not to go the faction route and hand carcass to a Musslaklan Trader.
I do have a question about the update if anyone should know. It is noted the sleeves are metal now. Any chance someone can post an update on these sleeves for future folks interested?
I now have icibus remains which I cannot sell and a sword which I cannot use or sell. Live and learn ; ) ...

I'm having real issues with this quest.... I patienyl wait for him to spwan then decide to run around looking for him....
I find him on top of a very high hill near Aegirhamm but the issue is.... I can't get to him becasue the zone wlal ends before I can reach him. Yet I can see him sittin up there. Will he come down? Or spawn on the shore somewhere?

I got this quest at level 11 with my Spiritmaster. I checked with the Barkeep at every level and could not get the quest until level 11. I killed Ibicus and got the carcass but the Musslaklans were aggressive. I worked on my faction and got it to neutral but the Trader would not take the carcass. I killed only Morvalts until level 14 and still was only neutral. The Trader still would not take the carcass. As a side note, I have noticed that several spellings changed throughout the text.
Friends of mine wanted me to level with them, so I held onto the carcass and didn't come back to Aegir until level 20. I did a couple of bubs in 20 at another Morvalt camp and went back to check faction. Still neutral BUT this time the Musslaklan Trader spoke:

I killed Ibicus with my 14 Warrior just off the southern side of the Stone bridge by town at 5:52am. I have seen him spawn on the norther side of the bridge with my 47 shammy also. Exact location is 37883, 36117. I turned in the carcass to Karle Alfevson and recieved Icibus Studded Sleves.....when all I wanted was the Blade of Icibus...

Has anyone tried the option of delivering it to the Mussalklan. I found the the Mussalklan Trader and Krum but neither wanted my carcass so I had to put them down.

I tried this as well. Most of the Mussalklan's were neutral to me, but both the Trader and Krum were aggressive. We (my shaman friend and I) left and killed a bunch of Morvalt to increase our Mussalklan faction standing.
I went back and the Trader was Neutral to me, but he still didn't want the carcass. I wonder if he has to be Friendly?

Is there any trick to finding Ibicus? At the moment, I'm just kinda wandering around the water areas hoping to bump into it, and I'm wondering if there's any tricks. Thanks.

I'm not able to obtain this quest with my new level 5 bonedancer. I do beleive the level of this quest to be much higher, because right now a kill brings about 120-150 exp. If i were to complete this quest at level 5, and get 81,930 exp, I would be sure to level at least once, if not twice. Does anyone know the real start level of this quest?

We can start narrowing it down. I did get the quest at level 13. If you got it at a lower level, post your level when you attained it. we can pin it in no more than a few posts.
Addendum: Completed quest at level 13 with a Bonedancer. Gave Carcass to Longbeard. Reward 6 silver, Ibicus Cap, and only 31,856 EXP.
