Afternoon Everyone,

I witnessed a very amusing moment this weekend playing Everquest. Actually it lasted but a few seconds which made it even better.

I was sitting far enough away from the book in The Overthere killing Greenies for the money and loot. All of a sudden I saw a Character pop in front of the book and he was looking for a group.

Here comes the good part. Some Numbnut was hightailing it back to the book with a tremendous train of guards and Golems. The Idiot hits the book mere seconds after the new guy zoned in. The monsters stopped a sec and proceeded to beat the new guy down. From start to finish the whole fight lasted about 3 seconds. I think the guy was level 29 or something and a chanter.

Ahh. the dangers of zoning 101. It gave me a good laugh and sent a tell to the dead guy when the Mobs left. He wasn't very happy for some reason.

Please post any moments that actually made you LOL in Everquest. This is a refreshing change from the normal rants about KSing, Camp Stealing, Main Looter going LD, etc....

This is only funny because it has happened to all of us, and I got to see it happening to someone else.

Some time ago I was in Halas buying new spells and I saw this new toon talking to the merchants, this was a brand new character, completely naked. Well, he moves over to the Shaman trainer to talk and WHACK one hit, he's dead.

When he came back I told him how to reprogram the "A" key and give my sympathies.

Way back in the day before Lesser Fay was infested with roaming brownies, my friend (a cleric) and I (an enchanter) were camped at the undead area killing the mummies and skellies and levelling happily (we were mid- to high-teens I think).

A VERY young high elf newbie (he was maybe level 5, probably lower) comes bopping up, totally lost in the zone and wondering if we could help out. None of the undead guys were up so we were chatting with him trying to help him out. I guess we were a little closer to a spawn point than we thought because in the blink of an eye a mummy spawned, made the "HOOOAAAA" sound that mummies make, and struck down said newbie in one fell stroke. The newb never saw it coming, and it happened faster than either of us could react to. My friend and I dispatched the mummy quickly and felt bad about the newbie for about 3 seconds before bursting into laughter over the matter. I don't recall if the guy came back or not, but my friend and I laugh about it to this day. I can still hear that mummy's battle cry...

Watching (and hearing) iksar monks feign death makes me laugh too for some reason.

My funniest moment was when Tyekanik (48 Ranger) and myself (Zearan 40 Wiz) were camping the AC (Ancient Cyclops) in the OOT (Ocean of Tears) for my jBoots (Journeyman's Boots) quest. We were just chatting and I was bored so I started to work on my AT(Alcohal Tolerance) skill. Needless to say, 6 beers in and my Wizard is loaded (AT 10). I can't walk straight, my Int is down to around 40, so my mana pool is almost non-existant. Tye is in wolf form and, yep, the AC pops. He is asking me for help, I can't walk straight, and the AC is beating him into a pulp. I am trying to get root off when I finally locate them to evac us, but by then his hp's are down to 20 percent and he is running away with the AC chasing him. So there I am wobbly and drunk chasing him around the island trying to get root off. We ran in circles around the island about 20 times. I didn't know what to do. By this time I am pretty much laughing hysterically. Lucky for us a high level necro was on the island killing merchants, probably watching the whole thing and laughing. So the necro finally helps us and kills the AC. Moral of the story, do not work on your AT while camping a high level mob.

A couple of weeks ago my brother was in S Ro with his Gnome Necromancer. I joined him with my Froglok Cleric. We were killing blues and whites at the edge of the desert. Zombies, Mummies, Orcs, Giant Scarabs, Giant Dune Tarantulas, whatever we thought we could take. After several monsters, we were both medding when we heard the sound of a Mummy. I looked up an saw a blue Mummy fighting a blue Orc. I went back to medding and my brother who saw the same fight says, "Let's kill the winner". It was so funny, I really was rolling on the floor laughing.

Not so much funny as a usefull tactic at times, but is still amusing to watch.

As all Druids and Rangers know, when you are in wolf form in Jagged Pines the griffs dont aggro. There are also several spots where they will congregate together for a while, Ive seen as many as six having a mothers meeting or something.

If you ever get more poachers/pirates than you need, just kite them around to one of these griffon meetings and watch the all out battle between poachers and griffs. Haven't seen the poachers win once yet.

I guess it looks funny to me because of the number of times I have been terrorized by the griffs in NK and EK, not to mention EC, lol.

My loudest laugh I had in the Bazaar from the following shout(as i recall it) from a Froglok

Freegle shouts in elvish: "Come to Freegles shop of worthless junk where he will rob you blind and selection is smaller than a gnome" *Freegle wonders if that will make customers show up*"

I still have to laugh about that :D

This was a long, long time ago, but I still laugh.

Back when Unrest was still heavily populated, I'm sitting by the fountains when this ogre comes blasting outta the house with one of those infamous "House trains" of Unrest. He shouts "Train to zone" but his macro as he ran by me:

Throgdor runs by you screaming like a little girlie.

This also cracks me up. Old iksar models, of course.

One of the more recent funny things I can remember is a few weeks ago. I was in Lguk with my hubby, who plays a rogue. I always make fun of him when he tries his intimidate skill, because it never works. Well, we're fighting one of the frogs, might have actually had 2 or 3 in camp, he decided to hit his intimidate button and it actually worked! We both looked at each other, said "Uh oh..." and then we had to laugh as the frog ran off, only to bring back almost the entire dungeon.

We died, of course. :)

A couple of my biggest everquest laughs came from a raid in Chardok. Our strategy seemed to be pull half the zone, kill everything, then move to the other half of the zone.

Well, our first pull was (by accident) on a bridge. We pulled (seemingly) half the zone, killed a lot, lost only a couple people, and by the time all the mobs were dead I ( a dwarf) couldn't see over the dead bodies. Then our lone rogue starts yelling for help...he fell off the bridge, and miraculously landed in a spot where he didn't aggro anything. Some smart aleck yells down asking if the rogue needs diapers....he yells back "too late"....

Later, after recovering the rogue, we had another huge pull, and this time it's not going so well. We lose a cleric or two, and the leader starts yelling for someone to camp out a cleric. (Trusting of course, that the tanks would keep the clerics alive long enough to camp out) Well...one of the TANKS camped out...so we got to make fun of him the rest of the day.
