I'm at the point where I want to get my 50 cap out of the way, can I level all the way to 50.9999 before it's capped or is the cap in place once you ding 50?

Level caps do not allows to pass the given cap. Yes, you may fill your exp bar while @ lvl 50. But you wont reach lvl 51 until you finish the quest.

Cheers big ears, so I've still got a couple of EXP parties in me until i can say {I'm Sorry}{Limit Break}{Can I Have It?}.
yeah... but why wait? Knock that quest out asap and you wont waste time in an exp gaining 0 exp b/c you're already @ 1tnl lvl 51 while the rest of the PT actually dings.
