DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Per 1.64 Patch Notes: - Casters that finish the quest Ancestral Secrets will now receive a focus staff instead of the previous staff which will no longer be given in the game. If you've already completed the quest and would prefer the new reward, you should return and speak with Ota Yrling in Aegirhamn. Speak with Ota Yrling in Aegirhamn. Got Quest, had to go speak to Jakyr in Bjarken. Jarkyn tells me a rather long, interesting story of Shamans and the Troll fathers. Jarkyr then sent me to Delling (The Caldera specifically) with a gem/pendant. He wanted me to kill the Ancestral Keeper. I was actually going to Delling Crater to do a different quest. As soon as I entered the bottom of the caldera, I got a message that said :The Crystal Breaks and The Ancestral Keeper comes alive!" He was an orange con mob to 48. I was worried about soloing him, but when I started attacking, I realized he was hitting for zero damage, so it was just a matter of muscling through him. If you go near 19764,47923 he will pop... there are some big crystals there's a high/slim one and a short fat one... He only spawns if you are visable and bring a friend (or three), you will need it. After beating him, I received a stone pendant. I returned to Jakyr in Bjarkan. Jackr wanted to see the Pendant. He took it. At that point I got some gold and 300 mill experience. (about 1/3 of a bubble). He tells you a some more of the backstory at this point. He also gave me 3 notes to take to 3 people back in Aegir's landing: Ota, Longbeard and Gazsi...they are all very close to each other. Upon giving the final note to Gazsi, Gazsi offered me my choice of an axe, either 1 or 2-handed. I was a little disappointed, because I use sword. I got over it when I got another 1.4 billion xp. (Note:If you get ported to any town other than Aegir, you can take a horse to Dyrfjell and talk to Jago there which will give you the pendant 100% of the time.. Again this is only if you get ported somewhere other than Aegir.) Rewards: |

i cant get the necklace. Only axes hammer or staff can give me Gazsi. :(

Done this 16 times on wl, eventually I got it.
Done this with my lvl 50 Thane and my lvl 23 buffbot. Keeper was con orange.
Took the stone medallion back to Jaklyr and received
26 mill bonus xp (for realm outpost ownership)
451 champion pts
876 mill xp
Received 3 notes, to give to Longbeard, Ota and Gazsi. Got transported back to Aegirhamn.
After giving the last note to Gazsi, received
81 mill bonus xp
1401 champion pts
2 bill xp
10 gold
Chose the sword
Gazsi's Blade
16.2 DPS, 2.3 speed, 100 qual
Took the stone medallion back to Jaklyr and received
26 mill bonus xp (for realm outpost ownership)
451 champion pts
876 mill xp
Received 3 notes, to give to Longbeard, Ota and Gazsi. Got transported back to Aegirhamn.
After giving the last note to Gazsi, received

If you plan on running this a bunch, the following macro helps
/macro ancestral /s object troll secrets jaklyr midgard farewell
You can use it on all the folks you have to talk to on this quest.

To get the Beaded Resisting Stones:
If you port ANYWHERE but Aegir, take a horse to Dyrfjell and talk to Jago. This works! Don't talk to the NPC it puts you in front of.
I ported to Hagall, hoped on a horse to Dyrfjell and talked to Jago and got the necklace, not some lame ring.

Ive done this quest 10 times and gove back to aegirhamn every time. its starting to get annyoneing, any suggestions?

Was totally wrong..The quest begins in Aegirhamn at Ota..
My group ran all over the place because this guy posted it inccorectly, and the fact that Im dumb enough not to have kept reading hehe

OOC: Sometimes you will only get experience and coins. I verified this with csr, thought it would be good to know, if you don't get an item (2nd time doing it, I didn't) then no worries, just attempt it again another time.

The quest really begins with Ota Yrling (next to the vault keeper in Aegirham). It is the second quest in the list, that is started with the key word spectactular.
Then you are sent to talk with longbeard, near the smith, next to the firepit.
Then you are sent to Bjarken.

Got it, and it didnt take away the friendship staff like I thought it would.

Yes, I believe it was patch 1.61 that made this repeatable.

The mob was red to me and not orange when i first tried to kill it, the next trial i took a friend with me and he was orange

The Ancestral Keeper was ffsgrape to me at 48. Solo he put me over his knee & spanked me into the dirt. Hoping for an oj or red respawn I went back, but bad luck - grape again.

when you get down to the last platform above the caldera floor, climb down the ladder. once you get to the bottom(assuming you are still facing the ladder)turn ~90 degrees to your left. run forward.it should take you past a long slit in the ground. run towards the closest crystal clump.when you get about 12 feet away, you get the message and a troll runs around from the back and attacks. he was red the first time, purp the second. me and a 50 thane could duo him both times.

Skald and I warrior ran around the Caldera and well lets not talk of the deaths but we could not get the keeper to spawn. We both have the quest and the stone in the inventory...how many more deaths of our characters are needed to spawn him. Please help anyone.
