First : where do i buy venom to envenom my swords..
Second : Should i go with the sword and shield
double swords or crossbow ??
Third : Where should i distribute my xp points ...

This might be a silly question, but since I don't have access to a crossbow yet I can't find out.
If a target is far enough away, would it be possible to fire off a crossbow shot and then use stealth before it gets too close? Or, once it targets you, is using stealth out of the question?

Once you're engaged you can't go into stealth mode... and for the other guy... definately go with duel wield not sword and shield... your not a tank so a shield will be worthless... you need to do alot of dmg and duel wielding will do that... also... if your a Sarecen go with thrusting weps if a Brit go with slashing... thrusting relies on dex more and slashing on str. hope this helps a little.

umm... im new to the game and i was wondering if the xbow was any fun too use or is for experianced players only, should the Xbow affect the way i choose my char?...damn i wish they had these things on EQ

But melee just doenst happen your dead before you get there at least a Crossbowman would have some fun :)

I've a newfound love for my crossbow. It's terrific for the chaos of RvR. As an armsman, casters and such keep their distance from me in the battle fray, the healers/mages always flanking the actual battle, they never see it coming. And, oddly enough, it deals out MORE damage than my slash skill which matches my level.

Ok guys, I'm a 23 hibernian enchanter, and even I know the upsides to a crossbow, I've died to them many a time. I especially liked "--Arturrum Aybarra/Archrogue Aegis, 37 cleric/infil, Lancelot server"'s answer. Yea, PA is much better damage but um....what if the guy you're attacking is running away from you? Are you going to super speed your stealth so that you can outrun him, have enough time to turn around, and PA him? No, you shoot him with your crossbow. Twice in my limited time in the battlegrounds I got hurt by mages that I soon after killed, then died from infils with crossbows.

Does anyone know what the effect is of adding skill points to crossbow? Does it increase accuracy as well as damage? How much damage does it add per skill point? Are there ever any special abilities for crossbow spec points?

or better yet be a minstrel. mostly people are too stupid to realize that they are the best pullers.speed up DD DD Stun quickly mez any adds run back

if you use your stun on the first mob, chances are you wont be able to get any mezzes off on the adds. i suppose that might work if you had a pally in the group doing heal chant. The pulse would agro the add onto him, and you could mezz from there, but minstrels really arent the best pullers. Not enough range, unless you mezz pull, which is unreliable at best.

I found a crossbow in Ludlow village. A boltseller near the Bowseller in the first house from the left when you come from the south had several on the second side of his tradepannel.

I use my crossbow to pull and to soften up the enemy. Using Flight Broadheads, I can hit most targets twice then change to sword and shield before they are in melee range. About 40 points per hit. Use Bodkins if they look to have armor. Less damage but it gets through.There is another reason to use it for pulling though. The bow users have to constantly buy replacement arrows. It's only fair to shell out some cash occasionally to even things up.

There's a mob you want to kill. Without a crossbow, you run up to him and attack him. He calls some of his friends over. You put up a valiant fight, but eventually die. Your grave is now in the middle of the mobs camp. Not much time for praying there!
If you used a crossbow, you could have drawn the mob out, and seen if he brought some friends. If he did, you can run away, sustaining no damage. Otherwise, just kill him.
2)
If you're fighting a difficult mob, it makes it much easier (better chance of winning, less down time between fights) if he's already sustained a fair bit of damage before he's even reached you.

Yes I agree that it is faster to just go in and whack that mob and take it out. But, what if, there is a group of them milling around and the one you want is in the middle. Or, higher level mobs in between.
This is the tool for Armsmen to draw the mob to them and not have to wade through 2 or 3 melees before being killed by the quest mob you're after.
Give it some time and work with it. In the long run I beleive you will find it a useful tool for soloing.

Welp if you're dumb enough to use a X-bow on an infiltrator, you're absolutely stupid. WHY would you use a crossbow and do 40 damage per hit when you can stealth up and backstab or pref artery for a TON more damage than that? That makes no sense. I can see where you would use it on an armsman, but some of the people that use it on infils are stupid unless they're pulling for a group {which rarely happens, usually a caster/scout/minstrel in group that can pull} but if you're dumb enough to shoot it 2 times with a X-bow for 40 damage instead of a 300 damage pref artery, you're dumb ;)

I have a lvl 20 scout maxed in long bow and can do 250+ damage against some blues. And can get 3-4 shots off. So, I think it's great that armsmen get the xbow, but no, it won't replace a scout with a longbow. (Don't get me wrong, even though a play a scout as my primary I don't think they have much value in a group, alot of people can pull).

also to increase a crossbows range significantly you need to be shooting off a hill or other raised terrain. It can sometimes double the distance your bolts go... Very helpful for RvR and pulling

Compared to the longbow the crossbow is fast, with 5 delay with oaken compared to 5.4 delay on oaken longbow. Longbow does more damage tho, 5.7 compared to xbows 5.. but its not that slow, if you have high quickness its even faster. In real life reloading crossbow is definitly alot slower then bow tho. Another good thing about crossbows is you can have it ready for ever and you never get tired because your not holding the string. With a bow after about 15 seconds you cant aim it anymore. This is helpful in RvR as you can wait and ambush without having to stop and aim.

Nope, ive tried... actually i put lethal on my crossbow successfully, but it does nothing, as the bolts are the things that hit the enemy, not the x-bow and you can't envenom them.

You can buy crossbows at West Downs too .. but in Camelot, the arrow merchant opposite the Guild of Shadows sells X-bows on the second scroll page

you can equip at 15. you get an embossed x-bow at 12 though.(if you complete a quest from your trainer)
