Druids and Weapons

I am not interested in training in a weapon but occationally find myself in combat. Being a Firbolg with a large amount of strength, which is the better weapon type to use Slash/Crush/Pierce.

Should I be using a blade, staff, or some other blunt weapon.
Blunt or Blade?
# Nov 12 2002 at 6:04 AM Rating: Decent
Hi, could get some pointers on which skill to choose for wardens? I prefer blades cuz they look more cool 8) but blunt has bonus dmg against alot of armour types like plate, chain. But its harder to find good blunt weapons compared to blades. If I go into blunt I will only put 20 points to get Force of might, but if I go into blades, I will put 39 points, so I can get Fire blade and spectrum blade. So which is better? If blunt weapons are str based then wat stat is blades based on?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, if you are a Druid you will never be able to train for any type of weapon. You do have however right away at level 1 the ability to use Blunt weapons. That means that you can use it, but never develop any better skills with it. The Blunt is completely strength based so an extra 10 points to str when you create your character would make you cause more damage, but is that what you really wanted a Druid for? The only other way to make more damage is to get a better weapon to swing.

I am a level 42 firblog Warden i have been thinking about what race is best for Warden or Celt. with Firblog you hittle a little harder have higher con. and BLock and parry a little less and stick out in Rvr. with Celt you block and parry more witch will often save your but so with all the New Wardens I suggest you Go Short Celt and if you Dare to Go Firblog like I did be a Short one not a Large one.

You dont get to train BLunt as druid. It saying "weapon: Blunt" merely means you can _use_ blunt weapons.

OK.. Now 42 level... I like my Stalagmite. :::grins:: OK.. no real bonus against armor for blunts untilll.... you pay attention to dmg to creatures with hard shells(not rock critters that much) and PEOPLE wearing plate armor. I can actually win against an orange plate wearer. Red to me plate wearers are iffy.. depends on how many times I block and parry. My weapon doesn't even proc yet. I am a 42 warden and do my share of healing and tanking. Like a said before... Wardens are not meant to be a primary tanks and now with my decision to slightly change my spec direction I do nice dmg, heal well and use the bubble.

Blunts are great weapons although there should be a stun in there somewhere and the message for 'cannot seem to move' is just bogus::grins::

Any opinions on a blunt/shield champion (Celt)?

A blunt/shield champ isn't a bad idea at all. In PvE, groups will appreciate the guard you can put on the main tank, and in the absence of a hero, will help you take less damage as the main tank. In group RvR, you'd deal less damage, yes, but solo, your shield would allow you to delay a 1 on 1 fight, giving your dd more time to recycle its 15second timer. And of course as you know, champ debuffs and dds eat up endurance fast, and blunt styles compared to Large weapon styles use considerably less end, allowing you to style more frequently.

I've always wondered, whenever I use styles like Side Bash, how long does the attack speed reduction last? I can't tell if it lasts several rounds or just one round or even the whole fight. Also, when you use Back Crush, Blunt Trauma or Slam does the bonus/penalty to defense apply to you or to the monster you're hitting?

I have played text based RPG's on and off for about 8 years. This is my first graphics based online game. I am not into recording stats and probabilities or power leveling. I play for fun and something to do mainly away from home(which I am quite a bit sometimes).
I have a firbolg warden and I know he is not a tank but he can stand his own ground when he gets aggro from healing the puller(which is something i prefer to do when in groups) and he can help out when his magic runs out. I have mainly focused on regrowth until it was 12 level and now I will bring nurture up to the level for the group bladeturn that renews. I have been keeping my blunt skill at 1/3 my level and I think I will continue to do so.
I have always liked blunts in text based games because if you had the strength required to wield one effectively you could get better hits against people in all armor except plate, because flexable armor crushes even if you cannot slash or pierce it. What I don't understand is why that is not reflected in this game. The damage absorbtion should not be a universal stat for armor because armor would absorb more damage from slashing weapons then crushing weapons.
Is this an unreal request to see if the damage can be enhanced for crushing weapons versus equal level slashing/piercing weapons? Maybe instead of retooling armor logic to reflect the damage effect Mythic can increase damage of crushing weapons by a little bit?
One last thing.. why doesn't stun work yet? I get the message "<critter> cannot seem to move" but it still attacks just the same as before. Can we get it fixed Mythic? Even if I cannot have the increased damage effect I would like the appropriate stun effect.

Will druids get blade as a skill thought? Im reading though all this(cuss i blew my 2 meg video card trying to run this game, don't worry 64 meg video card is on the way)anyways i was just wondering. Im trying to find a good fighter but that also has some magic to back him up. Im thinking druid but if they don't get blade as a skill, then i don't see any point.

Im a Champion w/ a big friggin hammer! but i guess its not a blunt weap 0_o?! so the styles and training are useless to me when using it..i mean thats gotta be 80% of becoming a champ..to use Lg Weaps. and the base skills blunt and peirce dont appy to Lg weaps..not cool, so will i keep getting blunt styles that i cant use w/ my hammer or not..this should be fixed..thx happy Hunting

Druids (and other classes) get abilities = thing you can use but cannot get better in, and skills = things you can train in. If you have no skill option you cannot train.
In this specific case : druids have Blunt as ability.

Druids can't train weapons. You can use blunts but not train in them. Therefore, no styles.

Think about what a druid is. They prefer balance in all things, nature especially. Therefore, shouldn't be evil or good just neutral. Also, they are a healing class. Traditionally healing classes do not like piercing / shashing weapons because of the blood it produces. I admit blunts would cause blood but this has been the traditional viewpoint.
