Does Anyone think Heavensward story will..Follow

End the Ascian and Garlean side of things finally? I hope those two arent gonna be overarching plots that continues until the games death ad then finally released at the end. 2.0 ending didnt seem like an ending at all.. I dont recall ANYTHING significant getting resolved.. just more stuff added to the list of things that need to be resolved. (i liked the fight cutsceneas though). Speaking of signfigant the whole Garlean thing seems to have been a throw away.... 2.0 was all about them.. in 2.1 theyre mentioned in one cutscene where you see their new leader who looks like he should be in a Castlevania game lol.... after that nothing else about Garlean Empire except their name popping up now and again.

In that OTHER game the vanilla story and each expansion were practically stand alone, aside from character making appearances in all stories, the main plot themselves were all different (Zilart and CoP did share a small link but nothing huge enough that youd consider Zilarts story unfinished until CoPs is done) who got actual ending with those expansion while the expansion following was a new beginning. Im hoping FFXIV follows that path after Heavensward.

Nah I don't think so. The Garlean Empire are the neverending enemy, just like the Empire(s) in Star Wars. No matter how many times they're smacked down.. they always come back.

I personally think the Ascian plotline could have been wrapped up ages ago. Most of the patches didn't really deal with it in a good way. Most of the post-release patches dealt with the story in the way something happens -> you get sidetracked -> you get on the course again and the sidetracking gets explained later, which made the story (at least for me) going nowhere.
But I may be biased, since I feel the writing, especially in the last patch, has taken a deep nosedive (not to mention the localization team meddling with Midgarsormr's speech, omitting a lot of important details).

Well I know we're not done with them the question is will we be soon lol. As for the Turks.. sure they were irrelvent but even they eventually got dealt with.

I mean with the Ascians all that talk about Zodiark and even hearing it roar.. I was hoping the final patch before HW, would culminate in us busting their doors down and taking on (or at least SEEING) that massive beast... but nooooooo

the first 2.0 final fight was the only thing in teh whloe game that felt like a final fight.... epic music, epic 8 man dungeon crawl with all kinda stuff attacking you, taking our bosses floor by floor, mouts that fired weapons as you used them.. THAT felt like an FF game ending... then what did we get after that until this point? "go talk to a buncha NPCs and watch a cutscene, do some dungeons 95% of which arent even story related, and throw in a trial here and there" Couldve at least send 2.5 of with a battle, dungeon crawl that rivaled or exceeded 2.0's last stand

I think I speculated on this before...

Ascians are kind of the thread that binds the storylines of FFXIV together, and Garleans, I don't think that plot will ever be solidly resolved, because we have a permanent fixture of Garlean encampments on our land. They're always going to be a problem in one form of another, will they always be a major thread? Donno.

At this point I don't even think we personalty resolve the Dragonsong War, rather than create a truce with a faction of the Dragons which will enable us to have hostile dragons throughout the course of FFXIV without breaking lore bounds.

I can imagine that we can put the Emperor to bed and the Garlean Empire back into turmoil, or even have a story twist and this 'wicked emperor' wind up not being that bad of a guy, comparatively. We don't know. But I don't think Heavensward is going to resolve that story in particular. We may get a dedicated expansion for that particular plot.

Ascians? I don't see them being defeated until later in FFXIV's life Cycle, towards the end.

You know you don't HAVE to buy them right? Learning and progression parties are a thing. Even the DF isn't totally out of the question on some of the Coil fights.

Midgardsormr, the Garleans, Ascians; these have all been around since the beginning. They aren't going anywhere. Midgardsormr was the only thing that saved Eorzea from the Garleans in 1.0, if only just barely. The dragon had to sacrifice himself to destroy the Garlean flagship. After the final defeat of the White Raven, Black Wolf and ultimately death of their King, the Garlean nation has been installing a new leader and consolidating their power. They will be back. In the end, the technology of the Garleans might be the only thing which can hold the Dravnian forces at bay. Ironically, Midgardsormr seems to have a weapon that can steal the power granted by the crystals ('Echo'/Ascians). The three are linked and the plotlines for these three will likely continue at least until the next expansion beyond Heavensward.

We are severely out-gunned and tragically naïve about the enemies we face. The story in the end is always how the bug underfoot, against all odds, defeats the giant(s).

yup youre right.. theyre a thing.... a thing that might pop up once for 5 minutes a WEEK (if youre lucky) in party finder, as for duty finder umm i remember when ppl couldnt DF titan hard... it was only until I was way overeared that Ive finally seen it done with success in DF... so Im not even gonna TRY FCoB in DF

Lorewise, us losing the Echo is why we don't get that after wiping in Steps of Faith, I thought. That's why they straight up nerfed the fight instead of adding in the Echo.
