At one point the FC had discussed trying to make sure we had all the specializations covered between the crafters, but once we learned there were no recipes yet, we haven't talked about it again since.

It'll be a long while since it's currently my lowest craft (at 28), but Verdha is planning on specializing in Alchemy first. My main motivation for that is the same reason I'm planning on making it my top desynth craft: I'm pretty sure no-one else in Eorzea will be thinking the same thing. Smiley: grin

I never make big money anyway, so the profit motive is totally wasted on me. I figure I just as well fill in what looks like it'll be an obvious gap.

Yeah, I haven't even bothered with quests yet, I'm waiting to see what (if anything) is worthwhile. Well, that and the fact that I've only gotten Leather and Goldsmith up to 60 so far. So no hurry there. I'm really not holding my breath though. The devs clearly have no interest in crafting and are only updating to keep those of us that like it interested in the game. It isn't working.

"Specialization" in crafting was added at level 56. Sort of. You get three specialist crafting Soul Gems and that's it - so far you can't change them. Specialists get additional crafting abilities and should eventually have access to unique recipes.

I don't know if the game actually lets you use them (I haven't touched specialization at all, and from what I've been told I'm not really missing out on much) but I have seen that you can buy new blank DoH souls for 480 red scrips
