Instead of those systems I think they should make FFXIV easier to play.

For example, the DRG rotation is very long and losing their buff hurts their damage significantly. It could be made shorter. BLM is similar with Enochian. Could make it so you can cast Blizz IV even without Enochian. All DPS now have too many buttons, many does the same thing as another, for example, Painflare and Enkindle, Spur and Rouse, Impulse Drive and True Thrust, etc. I've been playing since 2.0 and even I get confused sometimes, there's so many CDs and buff/debuff timers to keep track of.

Once it's easier to play they could slightly increase the difficulty curve, I think that nerfing leveling/level 50 content was a mistake. They were good to teach you the basic skills of playing a MMO like paying attention to what the boss is doing or your debuffs.

The game expects you to play perfectly at 60 during certain content, while doing very little to train you before you get there. I imagine this is very frustrating to new comers.

I agree with this. I suggested removing the GCD completely similar to FFXI. Have the TP and MP be the only limit to what and how much you can cast. The global cooldown makes things more jump ropish and tedious for me. To me it makes combat more rewarding simply by virtue of the fact that I can go all out at first and be out of resources or manage my personal rotation for longer durations. I feel with GCD I am just staring at my UI way too much and makes my eyes get tired quicker.

I am in the immersive UI camp, less is more to an extent.

I do agree that XIV has a massive ability bloat problem.

Wouldn't be a problem if a lot of abilities weren't just there for "balance" lol.

ok so reading what was said recent about 3.2 and the trailer.... it seems all novice hall is is teaching you certain battle mechanics... as opposed to going into a solo version of the actual fight your trying to practice for and getting hand on experience that way? If thats true thats a serious letdown.. as we already have ways to learn certain battle mechanics...

i.e they now have normal dungeon that you haVE TO DEAL WITH HEAVENSFALL AND DIVE BOMBS IN SOOOOO YOURE PRETTY MUCH LEARNING THOSE MECHANICS NOW THROUGH EASIER THAN RAID DUNGEONS (opps had caps on and didnt know it lol)

This honestly looks no different than WoW's 'proving grounds' and I'm not an all surprised so I guess I shouldn't be disappointed either. Anyone else want to check the numbers I posted up and wager whether it'll do better in XIV than it did in WoW?

The mechanics you face raiding are just more frequent, more damaging and more critical to execute properly for a clear. You're good at executing or you're not, but most people will still 'practice' against the real thing.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.
