There are supposed to be a couple of different guides published. I'll add links as they are available.
Glad we got rid of carbonized matter. I like the EXP bonus on FATES and random monsters spawns mod-fight.

Yeah that's pretty cool. I was really glad to see carbonized matter go away. I was THRILLED to see the bonus attribute system go away. That system has been worthless for years.

The FATE changes were really interesting. I want to see what they do with that. It sounds cool.

I'm not a fan of the method they used to expand specifically player inventories. The "full" setting for inventory display should show me my entire inventory. Having the rest of it behind tabs is annoying when I've gone out of my way to display the entire thing at once.

Really like the interface changes otherwise. The world map and duty finder changes are really nice. The class level pane on the character UI looks really good. The party finder finally looks like someone gave a damn about it. And there's now a reminder about where the next main scenario quest is. Thank you. That's an annoying thing to have to deal with after a break. Give me another one of those for class quests. I like the cast bars on the target list. I like the icon change above dispellable debuffs. Overall very nice UI changes.

Is Lodestone finally back up? Tried earlier and it just said 'website not found'... Felt it kinda funny that they'd link to a site that was to be taken down the same day they posted the links lol.

Hmmm...... but it is loading incredibly slow though. Blah.

EDIT:

THANK YOU, SE! THANK YOU for that Aethyrite in in Sapphire Avenue Exchange. I HATED having to Aethyrite AND Zone to get to a Market Board/Retainer Bell every time I Return'd back to Ul'dah.

YAY, no more "Level this other class to Lv15 to unlock this job."

YAY, some FATEs (the big large-scale ones) no longer require level sync... so now I can solo those old 2.0 FATEs that rewarded pets n such, since I can never seem to find one that's actually got people at it.

Cool, increased land mount speed with MSQ completion.

WOAH... you ALWAYS get one piece of gear from 51-59 or 61-69 dungeons and you cannot get duplicates, so do a dungeon 15 times, and you'll get all the gear for your current job from that dungeon. Awesome.

All Lv50 and Lv60 gear now takes Poetics, cool. Gearing jobs up will be easy now, while leveling them up (and I can finish my 270 sets as I'm capped on Poetics).

No more penalties to cooldowns when changing classes outside sanctuaries is awesome.

And yes, those Materia changes.... one of the reasons I never used Materia is how much of a hassle it was. I usually said "***** it, I'll get a new piece of gear soon and this'll be a waste of time..." I might actually use Materia now!

Awesome! I like the casting progress bars on the enmity list. That will make tanking a lot easier.

Increased inventory/armory chest!!! *drool*

So yeah... awesome awesome things.

A lot of those changes look really good. I'm a little confused and annoyed with the Role Action system though. We'll find out for real tomorrow I suppose, but the skills seems to be the same mix of "meh" and "absolutely vital" as it was before. Will any melee ever set Diversion? Will any caster ever NOT set Swiftcast? I can see a few situations where people might change skills around (in pre-made group only one healer needs protect, probably no need for Goad in a normal dungeon, etc) but for the most part people will still set the same things all the time, just like now. I don't see how this is an improvement over just making the important skills baseline and making the Role Actions more of a flavor thing.

As I have to level my Aether character, I'm excited about the universal Finder settings, so that way you don't get people sneaking in for a carry and continually wiping you. Since its what made the raid finder so successful but also upset people because once people got a clear they only queued "complete."

You can have a diverse set, but it'll be similar to how even prior to 4.0 certain dps will always have Raging Strikes, B4B and Internal Release equipped, with of course Second Wind and maybe even Mantra unless you threw in an extra GCD to stagger OCDs by tossing in Faint or something. So that technically won't change much.

Overall though, the role system is a lot better than cross classes as they changed up some current skills to be more inline with the 'must have' of 2.x-3.x.

That's the thing though. If everyone is going to be setting the same things all the time anyway, why not just ditch the system altogether, or replace it with something that's actually different?

Looking at the job guide looks like healers just got another stance to dance. I'm a little sad Shroud of Saints is gone and replaced with Lucid Dreaming. Didn't shroud reduce emnity to zero. No to test the changes.

Servers back up and I'm 4757 in login queue. 😢 Probably should have slept in

It reduced enmity, but not to zero.
