Basic Set ($299.99): Wii U console, Gamepad, AC adapter, HDMI cable, and sensor bar, 8 GB, white

Deluxe Set ($349.99): 32 GB, black, everything with the basic set plus: GamePad Charging Cradle, Stands, "Nintendo Land", and Deluxe Digital Promotion (earning points from purchasing digital games / content to be used in the estore).

Wii U is backwards compatible with almost all Wii games and hardware.

In addition, there's also Nintendo TVii (yes, they're actually calling it that), which seems to be a combination DVR / streaming service (I say service, but it's actually free!) that also integrates with Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon.

The exact launch titles have not been determined yet, but here is a list of titles that will be released by March of 2013.

Personally, I think that the library is very disappointing. I was not impressed with the games I saw in their presentation this morning. However, the other features plus the backwards compatability I think will keep me busy until the library expands more, so I'll probably purchase it (plus the wife wants it). And of course, I don't see why anyone would go with the Basic Set when the Deluxe set is only $50 more for so much more value.

Meh. I didn't own a Wii and I have no plans on buying the Wii U.

Call me when they get a new Zelda game.

With Skyward Sword still being so recent, I'm not expecting one for probably a year at least.

For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want a Wii U. I really don't see the controller being anything more than a gimmick.

I see no reason to fork over $350 for a cutent-gen console now when Sony and Microsoft will be unveiling their next gen consoles in a year or two...

I don't really know what to make of the thing. I can say that I've personally got no interest in it, but I couldn't begin to guess how it'll do in sales.

I wonder what the price will be for their "re-release" games (Arkham City et al). By the time they come out on Wii U, they'll probably be going on Steam for $2.50...

Don't really care. Looks like a lot of the games could just as easily be on the Wii graphics wise and even the others are no better than Ps3/Xbox. Car as the controller goes I guess I am just old fashion wanting a plain ole controller. The only release game that looks remotely interesting is Pikmin 3 and from the screens, again, it prob could have been made for the Wii.

Might look at it a year or so from now after a price drop. Wonder if these will be impossible to find like the Wii was at launch?

Next time I buy a console will be when Purple Ray or whatever the next gen format is. Then again there might not even be a physical format by then with streaming taking over.

My Ps3 is already a dust collector for the most part. Except for when I occasional buy a blue ray movie to own it rather than just stream it.

I don't even have an amazing PC and my PS3 is mostly being used as a mediabox.

My PS3 is barely even a mediabox. It's a Netflix browser. And by that, I mean I don't watch anything on Netflix, I just spend 20-30 minutes looking for something I feel like watching before bed, and by the time I do find something, I've decided to just go to sleep.

I suspect that they'll aim for a deliberate shortage on release, in order to drive up media attention and artificially inflate the apparent demand.

Wii U games will reportedly cost $59.99.

I think that's going to be problematic.

I just wish Bayonetta 2 wasn't an exclusive title Smiley: frown

...not that I'd be willing to pay $60 for it in the first place on any system, but I probably could have found it for $10 eventually.

I'm not interested.

I don't get enough use out of the PS3 either (it's a Blueray player that just also happens to play some video games), and with my sweet sweet dual 1080P monitor setup on my monster beast PC, I really don't feel the urge to play console games at all very much.

And at that price point, I can think of a lot more important things I could do with the money.

Penny Arcade's suggestion of having a full on D&D setup with three players and a dungeon master was pretty cool, though.

If they don't require stupid motion controls then I'll consider it then.

Considering the list of launch titles contains mostly ports, I can't think of a compelling reason to rush out and buy a Wii U. Also, the tablet controller is still a terrible idea.

Pretty much my feelings on the subject. The controller I hold off opinion until I actually get to use it. The wii has gotten enough use from me to justify my purchase of it so I'll give this consule a chance.. Just as soon as something new and worth playing comes out on it.(And isn't on the 360. Since the main reason I haven't gotten a ps3 yet was becuase most of the games I am interested in are for both and why buy another system when I have one perfectly capable of playing it right there.)

Nintendo does have some terrible American pitchmen. Reginald comes off as trying to sell the console to stockholders, and the other guy is trying just to hard to pretend any of those preview games will appeal to non-casual gamers.

In addition to that, I read somewhere (Ars Technica, I believe) that you'll be able to transfer save data, files, etc. from your Wii to the Wii U.

I'll try to dig up the exact website and link it.

Indeed. It also makes no sense. I mean, when I think of Nintendo's consumer base, I can't really imagine Bayonetta being a great fit for them.

Since the 2nd Gen Wii doesn't, I doubt the Wii U will.

Skyward Sword is the first Zelda game I haven't played. Always was a fan of them ever since I was a child with the original NES. Had no desire to play a game forcing me to use motion controls the whole time. Why can't they make a Zelda game with normal controls anymore? I disliked the DS games over the touch screen controls. I could have done without the use of the Wii controls on Twilight Princess and am not going to even attempt them with Skyward Sword.

My parents have a Wii, and my dad is a Zelda fan so they bought Skyward Sword. I tried to enjoy it, I really did, but I failed miserably. I really, really hate the Wiimote. I hated having to hit the button to center it every three seconds, I hated how it never properly mapped my movements, etc. Finished the first temple or two and just stopped playing.

Because the motion controls are actually simple and straightforward in SS and your prejudice against it is silly.

Just kidding, I have no problems with the motion controls but I do understand the people that do. I feel like overall I'm better off for not caring about them.

Since I'm from Norway I can't even access movie services on my PS3 (not entirely sure but it wasn't available last time I checked it), so it's even more useless for me. XD
