The town I've been stuck in for the last three months has a couple of those teppanyaki places. Hibachi grills or steakhouses, what ever you call them. Had never been to one before, and was treated by a sales rep. It wasn't very Japanese, since the chef was a white guy with a southern accent. But the food was good, and the tool flipping stuff was interesting.
Been there three times so far. Best part about being on an expense account is not having to worry about the cost of stuff like that.

Usually its a little Asian dude that does that stuff around here. If I had the kind of capital, I'd open up a place in Japan. It would be like six lawn chairs around an oil drum grill per table, and the chef would be a Midwesterner/Southerners flipping hot dogs and burgers and beans and stuff.
I know someone made that joke, I just can't remember who. Might have been Ron White or Bill Engvall.

And you would make a killing off the American ex-pats who can't get a decent burger in Japan to save their lives.
A friend came home from Japan for Christmas and we met him at the airport while he was on layover before going to visit his mom. He had chicken tenders at the restaurant and he just about cried because he'd missed them so much.
