To the people who somehow tanked the price of rusty caps to 1k while simultaneously raising the price of the rings I wanted 50-80k each...

<Cartman> I hate you guys. </Cartman>

Seriously, is it my imagination or have the undercutters really been in overdrive lately? I know Tset has some stories to tell on that end, but I'd love to hear what everyone else has been noticing in that regard.

/em heads off to finally level her smithing enough to make padded caps...

It is simply a matter of supply side economics.

Recently, Ram Horns (which one week ago went for 1.5k...and fast) dropped to 1k because there were 83 of them on AH.

Yesterday I checked and there were 23 and they were back up to 1.4k. Supply and demand. The economy fluctuates. If you are in no emergency to get 1k for whatever, then save these items and check back periodically for when the supply decreases.

I seem to find a lot of the stuff I put up on the AH staring back at me in my delivery box lately. Some items I'll hold onto until the price goes back up and others I just give up and go sell to an NPC. >.<

What's really suprised me is the dropping of the level 14 HQ rings.

They've seemingly overnight dropped 5K in price at the most.

Balance rings were around 18K for a while, now they're at a measly 14 or such.

Oh, I know, trizzoro, but to me, rusties are like moat carp: one of those items in high demands whose price stays constant. Apparently, though, I'm the only one that thinks so. ^^; That reminds me that I didn't check to see how moats are doing... I don't think I want to know....

yea i have relisted my teleport mea scroll 5 times now, price has dropped from 80k to 60k and is still dropping. I even bought a bunch of them below 70k and relisted them @70k to try to stabalize the price. Now they just got undercut further so it looks like i am going to lose almost 20k per scroll.

Oh yea i sent a tell to each person i saw undercutting my scrolls too, i figure if they can waste my time/gil having to relist items and what not then i can waste theirs by listening to me *****.

Even ores have been hit hard. Adaman down to 100k?! And measely things, like the stuff I get out of lesser mines (which is usually my bread and butter - I hate Ifrit's) have gone down to rediculous amounts.

*points at Honeyboy*

Yes, my favorite person, also likes to undercut. A lot.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to add an extra shift at the mines.

Just wait for a month or so, and the prices will be back through the roof in no time.

I'm personally not looking forward to Chocobo prices from 10 AM cST -> 3 PM CST going way, way up.

This is just an informal observation, but no-one ever seems to mention the effect of the weekend - I find that that many items that I'm selling (such as low-level crafting items like beehive chips and even silk thread) go up in price as the weekend comes because demand has jumped along with it. By the middle of the week, it's lower again because demand has dropped.

Again, informal, but intriguing.

Cheers!
