I Like to Gamble. It help out a couple of times when i needed some money ,but there is that little 1-499 chance that you might blow it all.

These are the latest thing I've been complaining to my linkshell (or, heck, anyone who'll listen) about. I've only /blist'ed one, I think, because it seemed every city I was in, he was there /shouting about his "casino".

So obviously, these guys annoy me. I like keeping /shout open so I can hear tele requests (aka, "tele spam") and be there to offer a tele if I need a few gil, so... well... I get the bad with what is, for me, debatably good.

Ultimately, people should do the math - the people runnning these "casinos" sure do, and they always make payouts such that the odds are in their favor (assuming the distribution of /random rolls is uniform, which is a seemingly reasonable assumption).

I suppose it all comes down to the fact that it irks me that they basically get money for annoying the heck out of people. Like... well... spammers.

I tried gambling once. I won two out of two times and felt really bad for the casino head :(.

I usually have Shouts off, unless I'm looknig for a port or something of the like. It usually saves a lot of useless spam. It's unfortunete that Casinos and idiots ruin what would otherwise be a useful public channel.

Yea it's annoying as hell, but SE really can do anything about it =/. I don't see why people would do this anyways unless they were betting around 10k+ to have a "chance" at making some profit. I rather farm or fish, where you don't have a chance to go broke ;-;. What I suggest is before you run into town turn on your shout filter.

This is hardly true. The casinos do provide a "Service" - they are enterainment to those who find it fun. I've never bothered, but some people must enjoy it. Given that this is a game after all, your teleport "Service" is essentially entertainment as well. As forthe 100k needed to buy the teleport scrolls - how much money do you think you need to set up one of these casinos? If someone runs a casino with the possibility of paying out triple on their patron's bets, and have a maximum bet of 10k, then these casino operators must have at least 30k (and probably a lot more to) to get started, otherwise they run the risk of ruining their reputations via non-payment of winnings. I would like to see anyone (without heavy outside help) get 30k while having the question mark beside their name.

I think the most any teleporter needs is 3 lines, like the one I use.

hey dumbass, i have never not been able to pay out a bet..

i think you got your story confused.. i was playing at a casino, and they other guy could not pay up, so i slapped him, and get everybody i know to make a trip to sandy to do the same until he decided to pay up.

So get your story straight.. I am the Original Casino Experience on the Bismarck Server, and i take bets up to 1 million gil.. I have never once not paid out a bet. i have even paid out a bet for 1.6 million gil before..

So **** off, and stop tryin to give me a bad name..

Ok Machtaru, i will be nice about it, since you were nice about it too.. First of all, if none of you have ever actually seen me not be able to pay out a bet, then why would you believe anything that you havent seen for yourself..
I have made over 5 million gil from the casino that i started.
Why on earth would i not pay somebodies bet if they win..

I mean, nobody is stupid enough to bet 1 million gil on one roll, the largest bet i ever took was 800k, and i lost that bet and payed out a 1.6 million prize to Ekrisst. After losing that much gil, i was very upset, but i payed it out, and i actually went back to his casino and won 800k back from him in about 10 rolls.. He then proceeded to get upset and come back to my casino and bet 800k again.. he lost, then he bet 500k.. he lost.. long story short, he lost about 1.5 million gil that day. i felt bad, but hey, he started it.


I would really like to know who is spreading the rumor about me saying i dont pay out my bets.. Dont you think i would be banned from the game if i was just taking peoples money and running away? Also, dont you think that somebody would post it on the allakhazam boards if there was actually a little Taru claiming to run a casino, and when you make your bet, he takes the money and runs? I would not be able to use this name "Hiptaru" without getting flamed on every post i make if i was taking peoples money and running.. So once again, i would LOVE to know who is telling lies about me, please give me names..

now for your questions.. why do i run a casino?
I have made 5 million in 2 weeks from my casino.. i think that speaks for itself.. BTW, i have spent about 3 million in goldsmithing also, so add that to the edition of still having 5 million after selling back the items from goldsmithing.. so the reason i run a Casino is for the Gil..

How do i handle all the money?
With my little taru hands. I am the most reputable Casino in the Server, and i am the Original Casino Experience on the Bismarck Server, Now Accepting bets up to 1,000,000 Gil. I would consider myself one of the most hated people on the Bismarck Server because of what i have done with the Casino industry.. I cannot help that 590340 different people have decided to copy the idea and start thier own casinos, and whats really funny is, thier casinos have max bets.. thats lame..

My casino really has no limit.. i limit it to 1 million, just because i could not pay out more than 5 million on one bet, but i seriously doubt that anybody would be as stupid to bet 1 million on one bet. i wish i could find another casino with no limits like me, i would love to play at a Casino, but nobody can handle my bets of 100k, and 300k and stuff.. oh well..

and then you ended your post with something about you hating all the shouts in sandoria.. I go work Sandy for about 1 hour a night around 1am. if you dont like to hear the shouts, then use your filters.. there are like 5 threads on this site about all the spam that casinos cause, and guess what.. all you have to do i use your filters and then they are gone, or you know what black list me.. i really dont care if i get blisted. i am a BLM/WHM, i have no problem getting party invites, in fact i keep my character on /anon all the time because if i dont, i get 20 invites a hour, so go ahead /blist add Hiptaru if you want to, doesnt bother me..


So.. Machtaru, i hope that i have not offended you as well, i know people seem to think i am a *little* confrontational with my posts, but i dont mean it that way, i blame the zodiac for that, i am a Leo, and i just come off that way.. I need to make one statement in all of this about something that annoys the ^#$$ out of me.

"Just filter the shouts"

Why do we have to do that in order to have an enjoyable gaming experience?

There are MANY worthwhile shouts that we would like to hear, but because someone is abusing the system, we have to miss everything? I don't think so. I don't pay to play with all my filters on because people can't respect everyone else around them.

You want to shout? Fine. Shout once every 2 minutes or so, there is no way that someone is going to spend less than 2 minutes in an area. They will see the shout just fine, and if they decide they want to do it, they will head on over.

As far as you not caring about being /blisted. I think you should seriously reconsider that sentiment.

It may not seem like a big deal now but think about it. Let's say that 5 people /blist you every ten minutes (it's probably more). You said you spend 1 hour in San d'Oria. That's 30 people an hour /blisting you. That's 30 less people per hour that are willing to party with you or help you out when you need it. Add that up over how many hours you are doing this? Holy
crap huh? that's a lot of /blists o_0

Let's say you do this 3 hours a night for a week. That's 630 /blists. That's also 16% of the online server population (approx. 4000 players online at any given time). That's a huge chunk of players no longer recognizing that you exist.

That's something to think about hm?

Now, I'm sorry if I seemed harsh or if I seem unfair but , you hit a button with me when you said just turn the filters on. That is the stupidest and lamest suggestion anyone can make.

Sorry you feel that way, but lots of other people suggest the same thing on this board. That means that you are saying that half of the people on here have the stupidest and lamest suggestion for your whining about Casino Spam.

First of all, i dont even do the /sh more than every 2 minutes. Most of my buisness is from people /tell me and ask me if i am taking bets at the moment, and then i will go visit them for them to make a few rolls, if its worth my while. So i dont were you get off on telling me that i use the spam too much, you just want to jump on the bandwagon and point your finger at me and tell me to stop because i am annoying. The only thing you people do is give me more free advertisment by bringing up the whole casino thing, it makes people curious as to what is goin on. So Thanks in advance for making me about 500k today with peoples curiosity about my casino from your whining about it..

Regarding the whole /blist thing, i have been running the Casino for over a month now, it has had many ups and downs and other things to, i think that all the people who are gonna blist me have already done it, and you know what???
last night i forgot to go /anon before i went about on my buisness, and i got like 4 invites in the 5 minutes i was not on /anon, i dont have to think about it, people need BLM/WHM in a party, especially a taru one with the best equipment because he has millions to blow.. I will NEVER have a problem getting a party, and actually, i am leveling Goldsmithing right now, i have reached level 52 in GSing, and i dont need any party invites to do it..

So i totally respect the fact that you have a opinion, but none of your arguments make any sense to me, so i wish you a good day, and if you ever are around the casino. /sh Come play a few games while you wait for a Party or your Friends.
