When FF XI was first released on the PS2, I couldn't get it until the day after the release date. The explanation I was given by the clerk at EB? The release date is when the publisher (or perhaps, this particular publisher) ships the product out to stores. Unless the store is really, really close to the warehouse where it's shipped out (or maybe if the store has a lot of clout), the store won't be able to receive the shipment and stock it's shelves until the following day.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. Whether or not a product gets shipped on the release date or gets pre-shipped so that it's ready on release date probably differs from one publisher to another.

Depends how lazy the Purolator people get... (I think they use Fed-Ex anyways)

They ship all the games on the 21st and Fed-Ex splits them up.

Lets say it takes 1 hour from the EB warehouse to the Fed-Ex centre.

Start shipping at 8am
Fed-Ex talks a wee bit to employees, makes jokes, talks about the hockey strike. Game ships out at 9am
Game arrives at Fed-Ex centre at 10am
Distribution process done at 1pm (some games ship out at noon)
Delivery guy wont go with just a few boxes of games and has to wait for a few more packages (ill call that the 3pm delivery/pickup) Games leave at 3pm
Game arrives in store at 4-5-6pm in the closest EBgames.
Store closes at 6pm

Wait until tomorrow. You will get your fix... Im not missing out on much... Ok I wont be the first NA to set foot in Promyvion but a lot of people have stopped camping and mining to explore a bit and make money out of novelty common items.

WHen will people learn EB know nothing >_<

I cancelled my pre-order there because it took them a month to send me my last order. I'm not talking a month shipping (when it was shipped it took about 7 days), this was a month to bill me and then send it. I'm not waiting that long for CoP.

Plus most of the eB clerks that I've talked to have next to no knowledge on anything game related, they just read what they have on the screen and think they know everything.

I poo on this shipping problem, I...urgh. lol I called EB Games two days in a row and now they said that the P.C verson is going to be delayed. /cry. What is a video gamer to do? Sit and watch as his lovely woman plays FFXI (Nuku) While I sit on the side lines in awe? I also checked the EB Website and it shows that they got the P.C Version in, but they havent shipped it yet. Man this sucks. All of my PS2 friends are going to pass me by and explore it w/out me i guess.

What ticks me off more than anything is that the Japanese players had this over a week ago now, and are getting rich off of selling the new CoP items that NAs don't have access to, which will consequently drop in value as soon as we do.

We paid more for the coming of CoP than the Japanese players did and we're getting it significantly earlier. How so?

Every maintainence for CoP was done from 10 PDT-on. Some ran as much as 8 hours. And there have been so many of them.

What time is 10 PDT JP time? Well. 10 CST is 12 (midnight) JST. Therefore 8 PDT is 12 JST. So... 10 PDT is 2:00 a.m. JST. They picked a time to start the maintainence specifically that would not interfere with most Japanese gamers. And if they stretch on 8 hours, who cares. 2-10 a.m. is no big deal. But for us NAs that's 12-8 CST, a big chunk personally of my playing time.

And they did all of the maintainences in this time window.

Currently all we have to show for CoP, is a lot of downtime, overpriced items the Japanese players are ******** us on, and a some new pretty areas we don't have access to.

And the worst part of all? Things will continue down this road. And I will buy the expansion pack when it comes out, putting money in their pocket for being biased bastards to their own country.
