I discovered something wonderful in my closet.

Japanese parties are so addictive.

What's your view on JP PTs? Is there a reason, do you think, why some JP players use the "JP only" comment?

It's because Japanese parties tend to be more efficent. Not all the time, but most of the time.

Alot of Japanese players put JP ONLY because alot of english speaking parties tend to break up quickly. Its not because they feel we are inferior, they dont want to join a party for 1000 xp only.

Some Japanese use JP only because they can't communicate with us even with the help of the Auto-translator.

I have been invite to a JP party and they all try to communicate with me in Japanese and rarely use the translator function. Good thing I can read Kanji and some basic Japanese.

I've been into a couple of them. One was just as a THF before I got to 18 and got a sub-job (surprised they wanted me). It was pretty efficient, but then, my standards have changed a lot since then. Perhaps they were all noobs too...

The language thing is a problem. I never really knew what was going on for most of it...

Disclaimer: This post deals with matters of opinion! I am not stating facts, and I don't believe that I am! I recognize that this is just my own opinion, so please recognize that, too.

I hate the belief that JP pts are "more efficient," "more patient," "get better exp," etc etc. It's just not true. I've been in some JP pts, and I've been in some NA pts. I've also been in pts with people from France, Germany, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and all manner of countries all around the world. There's nothing about a country that makes people there any better or worse at ffxi, that's just ridiculous. Whenever I play, there are good and bad pts. So, putting the bad pts aside, I can easily say that I've had many good NA pts that are just as good as the best JP pts I've ever been in.
So, my view on JP pts? Well, I think that JPs have a different playing style than NAs. They do like to take a long time to form pts, but the result is that they often get a good pt setup. It seems like they will wait for exactly the classes they want, so I often end up with a brd in my JP pts, which is great! The downside, of course, is the experience that you could be getting in the meantime with a less perfect pt is lost. NA players tend to do their best with whatever is available at the time, even if it's not quite perfect. The result of this is that maybe you get a tiny bit less exp per battle, or they last a little longer, but you get started much sooner.
In my experience, JP pts are different, but no better or worse than NA ones.

Believe it or not, I don't believe it's the culture difference that makes a party great to be in. In fact, while the JP parties I've been invited to have done excellently for exp, the best parties I have ever been involved in have all been English parties. (I refuse to call them North American parties because not all of us are from Morth America. *coughcoughnewzealandcough!*)

But I have enjoyed my time in Japanese parties, mainly because of the lack of communication. Not lack of direction, lack of talking. I don't have to focus on what somone is saying to me, or their opinions, or whatever else talking inspires you to think of. Many Japanese parties have been great for me because I can concentrate fully on the task at hand, and because I can't understand what everyone else is sayign unless it's translated, I don't feel so judged if I make a mistake.

I don't believe Japanese parties are any better or worse than English parties. I've been in decidedly awful parties on both accounts. I think, for me, I enjoy parties that can keep the unneccessary chit-chat down to a light bit of humour or something once in a while, or just to compliment someone on a well-done skillchain, or to discuss viable game-plans. I have more than enough outlets for social interaction outside the battlefield, keeping my focus in a fight is, for me, paramount to pulling my weight in a party.

My experience with japanese parties isn't any more stellar than other parties I've been in. One incident kept me away from japanese parties for a while... The whm kept spamming {refresh}{can I have it?}. Sure, its my job to do that, but its also her job to recognize it was cast already... blah. The puller kept copping aggro, and the tank lost hate frequently. I'm sure it was a fluke, but I was scarred none the less ^^;

I turn down all JP invites I get on RNG just for payback from what they did to me as MNK.

You're missing one simple fact...

The game was available to the Japanese (via the Japanese version, it's not even a geographical issue, it's a language one) a full year before the English version was released. This alone gives them a POTENTIAL advantage over the rest of us who haven't been playing as long. They have the POTENTIAL to be better than us simply because they could have more experience than us. Of course race/language ability has nothing to do with how well you play the game, but it's safe to assume that a good majority (not all) of the JPN-speaking players have more hours logged than you or I. Of course experience alone doesn't a good player make (ever seen that Rank 10 who didn't know what they were doing? I know I have), but the potential to be a better player exists with experience.

Of course I'm not saying ALL JNP-speaking parties are great (I've been in a few bad ones)... ...that would be generalizing of course. In my experience (and please just take it as that), a large majority of the full JPN parties that I've been in have been wicked. I find myself having to work much harder, the downtime is slim to none, and the rewards (xp) have been much better than the parties I'm usually in. I most often leave those parties more the wiser about the game too.

This, of course, is entirely MY experience and restricted at that. I guess I've just been lucky in my experience with Japanese parties. Either that or my opinion is skewed by too
many bad English speaking parties. Either way, none of this is fact... ...just my experience.

Who cares they're racists.

On another note, some of you are really ***** for rating down on posts that are related to the topic. Just because you don't like what is said doesn't mean you have to be so ***** :\
