Ok, so I've started to level Whm because I know I want to be one of these jobs. My problem is, which job should I be, and is there any way I can use these jobs well together?

Replies are appreciated!

Well, why not be them both!

Get all of the ADV jobs as u can and just lvl one up then the other one, If u go to the BST forum and the BRD forum i am pretty sure that someone in there says why these two jobs are not compatable, I know the reason why BST/BRD isnt good is because u cannot use any intruments.. hence it would suck.

Right now I am experencing BST and I will tell ya its fun stuff after lvl 10, since my partner in crime, (Nuku) is lvling up w/ me it is a blast going dual BST's, makes things a hellovalot easier.

BRD I only got to 3, but they have alot of work to do and they have to know what specific etludes to give to everyone, A.K.A PLD'S would use Vivicious Etulde while others would require just two Ballads or etc. Im not very knowledgeable with BRDS just that I watched my buddy Gitaru run around so much when we were fighting in our Mid 50's I almost got dizzy, plus everyone had to be a specifc way and blah blah blah, it was good, and BRD+RDM Combo was really really good, but yeah check out the BST & BRD forum for more pro's and con's towards these two jobs.

I think what he was asking was, should he go BST/WHM or BRD/WHM. If you enjoy soloing, go BST. If you enjoy being party support, go BRD. That's my 2ยข.

This isn't necessarily true. The /BRD gives a nice boost to CHR and requires less +CHR gear.
Also /BRD is good in a PT setting after level 23 because you can support the pt better with various songs (even though it's just one). It is also very good for a BST pt to have one BST/BRD. The regens lessen downtime a LOT.
As for soloing, it's a gamble. I haven't seen a BST/BRD in action when soloing.

As to the post above...

/BRD is not the best of choices, even with the CHR boost, it does nothing for a BST.

Plus, BST usually don't ever party. ><

But, whatever floats your boat. :\

Isn't the title "BST or BRD"? LOL people read too fast.

Anywho...I haven't tried BST yet, but I absolutely love being a BRD. There's so many perks to the BRD job and I still don't understand why there aren't many NA BRDs. Here's a couple of good points and bad for being a BRD.

Good points
1. Easy invites. Flag up for 10 minutes and you're in.
2. Who hates a bard? Seriously. PCs love you. Hell even the mobs love you! I've yet to see a BRD who can draw up hate in an EXP.
3. Not very expensive. Aside from the CHR gear, 100 gil for a spell? W00t! But don't let that keep you from earning money.
4. Go gimp? No one cares! Yeah somehow I managed LVLing in true cheap style.
5. BCNM40; no orb required. ^_- I know this all too well.

Bad points
1. Farming sucks. Yeah, BRDs really can't farm as efficiently as other jobs. Wanna die from an EP? Go for it!
2. Soloing sucks. LOL I always end up Lullabying the monster and running away.
3. WTH is up with the CHR gear? Feel like paying 300K for the great Monster Signa?
4. Repeat, rinse. You'll know this once you get Mage's Ballad.

OMG! Nekky, don't you remember the times when I was in a BST PT in altepa, and I was all ecstatic in the LS talking about the xp rolling in (250xp per kill and maintaining constant xp chains)? It was a 3 BST setup: 2 BST/WHM and 1 BST/BRD. Overall the BST/BRD had significantly more CHR without +CHR gear than us at the same level and even with 1 song, he was able to keep downtime very low. We were healing faster than our pets were. If we had 2 BST/WHM, 1 BST/BRD, and a SMN, we'd rule!
You CAN solo a BST all the way, but there is definitely room to PT because a good BST with the right sub can easily be one of the better DDs (sometimes even outdamaging a DRK).
I stopped levelling at 40, but once my RNG and THF get to 40 (both currently at 37), I am definitely getting back to BST.
