I am currently having a problem with my Laptop a IBM Thinkpad and I know alot of people on here are computer literate. I go home on leave at the end of the week and I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this problem to work. I went to IBM.COM even to Intel.com the people who made the drivers for my damn display and I did everything they say and I still cannot fix this damn thing on my laptop (I am doing this so I dont have to lug my Desktop over 700+ miles) I have a IntelĀ® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller Family in my laptop and the damn thing still aint workin.
but here is what Playonline said about this:

Your graphics card may not support Hardware TnL. Please ensure that your PC uses one of graphics cards listed below. Please contact your PC's manufacturer if you are unsure of your system's specifications.

*For notebook PCs with the GeForce FX 5600 GO, only the models that are mentioned on the Square-Enix website are confirmed to be compatible with FINAL FANTASY XI.

ATI Technologies graphics chips

If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it, so far SE, IBM and Intel have not been able to help me. Thanx!

What you are referring to is a feature on modern graphics cards called Transform and Lighting. FFXI requires it in order to run, so I hate to say it, but since you are running integrated video on that laptop you are probably out of luck. Sorry to be the one that had to break the news to you.

Yes but getting a good vidcard on a laptop is expensive. But Im sure a corrupt government official of Lakshmi can afford it ;)

if you can afford it.. the Alienware laptops come with mobility radeon 9600 video processors in certain models...

www.alienware.com

if you *REALLY* want to dump some jink, go to falcon northwest.. highest priced gaming laptops on the market... but it will re-define your perception of computing speed.. the higher end models even have upgradeable video modules.. O_O however, for this kind of speed and versitility... you WILL pay for it.

edit: also.. on the more price sane end of the spectrum, Dell has a few "gaming" laptops.. an alienware or Falcon will utterly trounce anything dell has to offer.. but you won't pay 3grand or more for a Dell gamer able to run FFXI.

Well, the funny thing is I wish they would simply say,
"Guess what? Since you have this kind of laptop, you are S*it out of luck! Better luck next time! ::snicker snicker::"

They do...but they make you call into Tech Support to ask about the problem so they can do it directly.

But instead of it being directly, you talk to five or six people before being told you're SoL. XD
